Deuteronomy 32

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Listen, heavens, while I speak; hear, earth, the words that I shal say!	1 "Ascolta, o cielo: io parlerò; senta la terra le parole della mia bocca!
2 May my teaching fal like the rain, may my word drop down like the dew, like showers on the grass,like light rain on the turf!	2 Scende come la pioggia il mio insegnamento, stilla come la rugiada la mia parola, come un acquazzone sull'erbetta, come un rovescio sull'erba.
3 For I shal proclaim the name of Yahweh. Oh, tell the greatness of our God!	3 Perché proclamo il nome del Signore: magnificate il nostro Dio!
4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect, for al his ways are equitable. A trustworthy God who does nowrong, he is the Honest, the Upright One!	4 La Roccia: perfetta è la sua opera, tutte le sue vie sono giustizia. Dio di fedeltà, senza ingiustizia, Egli è giusto e retto.
5 They have acted perversely, those he fathered without blemish, a deceitful and underhand brood.	5 Contro di lui prevaricarono -- non sono suoi figli le loro tare -- generazione perversa e tortuosa.
6 Is this the return you make to Yahweh? O people brainless and unwise! Is this not your father, whogave you being, who made you, by whom you subsist?	6 Questo rendete al Signore, popolo stolto e insipiente? Non è lui tuo padre, che ti ha creato? lui che ti ha fatto e sostenuto?
7 Think back on the days of old, think over the years, down the ages. Question your father, let himexplain to you, your elders, and let them tel you!	7 Ricorda i giorni lontani, considerate gli anni di età in età; interroga tuo padre e te l'annuncerà, i tuoi anziani e te lo diranno.
8 When the Most High gave the nations each their heritage, when he partitioned out the human race, heassigned the boundaries of nations according to the number of the children of God,	8 Quando l'Altissimo distribuiva alle nazioni la loro eredità, quando divideva i figli dell'uomo, fissò i confini dei popoli secondo il numero dei figli d'Israele.
9 but Yahweh's portion was his people, Jacob was to be the measure of his inheritance.	9 Perché parte del Signore è il suo popolo, Giacobbe è porzione della sua eredità.
10 In the desert he finds him, in the howling expanses of the wastelands. He protects him, rears him,guards him as the pupil of his eye.	10 Lo trova nella terra del deserto, nel disordine urlante delle solitudini; lo circonda, lo alleva, lo custodisce come la pupilla dei suoi occhi.
11 Like an eagle watching its nest, hovering over its young, he spreads out his wings to hold him, hesupports him on his pinions.	11 Come un'aquila incita la sua nidiata e aleggia sopra i suoi piccoli, egli spiega le ali, lo prende e lo porta sulle sue penne.
12 Yahweh alone is his guide; no alien god for him!	12 Il Signore è solo a condurlo, non c'è con lui dio straniero.
13 He gives him the heights of the land to ride, he feeds him on the yield of the mountains, he gives himhoney from the rock to taste, and oil from the flinty crag;	13 Lo fa cavalcare sulle alture della terra, gli fa mangiare i prodotti dei campi, gli fa succhiare il miele della roccia e l'olio dalla pietra di silice,
14 curds from the cattle, milk from the flock, and the richness of the pasture, rams of Bashan's breed,and goats, the richness of the wheat kernel; the fermented blood of the grape for drink.	14 latte cagliato di vacca e latte di pecora, col grasso degli agnelli, gli arieti di Basan e capri, con la polpa del frumento, e il sangue del grappolo, che bevi spumeggiante.
15 Jacob has eaten to his heart's content, Jeshurun, grown fat, has now lashed out. (You have grownfat, gross, bloated.) He has disowned the God who made him, and dishonoured the Rock, his salvation,	15 Mangiò Giacobbe e si saziò, si ingrassò Jesurun, e recalcitrò. Ti sei fatto grasso, pingue, grosso! Abbandonò Dio che lo aveva fatto, disprezzò la Roccia della sua salvezza.
16 whose jealousy they aroused with foreigners -- with things detestable they angered him.	16 Lo provocano a gelosia con dèi stranieri, con abominazioni lo irritano.
17 They sacrificed to demons who are not God, to gods hitherto unknown to them, to newcomers ofyesterday whom their ancestors had never respected.	17 Sacrificano ai demoni, che non son dio, a dèi che non conoscono, nuovi, venuti da poco, che non hanno temuto i vostri padri.
18 (You forget the Rock who fathered you, the God who made you, you no longer remember.)	18 La Roccia che ti ha generato la trascuri, dimentichi Dio che ti ha dato la vita.
19 Yahweh saw it and, in anger, he spurned his sons and daughters.	19 Il Signore vide, disprezzò nella sua ira i suoi figli e le sue figlie;
20 'I shal hide my face from them,' he said, 'and see what wil become of them. For they are a deceitfulbrood, children with no loyalty in them.	20 e disse: "Nasconderò loro la mia faccia, vedrò quale sarà la loro fine, perché sono una generazione pervertita, figli senza fedeltà.
21 They have roused me to jealousy with a non-god, they have exasperated me with their idols. In myturn I shal rouse them to jealousy with a non-people, I shal exasperate them with a stupid nation.	21 Mi hanno reso geloso con ciò che non è dio, mi hanno rattristato con le loro vanità; e io li provocherò a gelosia con un non-popolo, con una nazione vana li rattristerò.
22 Yes, a fire has blazed from my anger, it will burn right down to the depths of Sheol; it will devour theearth and al its produce, it wil set fire to the footings of the mountains.	22 Perché un fuoco è avvampato nella mia ira, e brucerà fino agli inferi, in basso; divorerà la terra e i suoi prodotti, brucerà le fondamenta delle montagne.
23 I shal hurl disasters on them, on them I shal use up al my arrows.	23 Accumulerò su di loro i mali, le mie frecce esaurirò contro di loro:
24 They wil be weakened by hunger, eaten away by plague and the bitter scourge. Against them I shalsend the fang of wild animals and the poison of snakes that glide in the dust.	24 saranno smunti dalla fame, divorati dalla febbre e da pestilenza maligna; i denti delle belve manderò contro di loro, con il veleno dei serpenti che strisciano nella polvere.
25 Outside, the sword bereaves, while inside terror wil reign. Young man and girl alike will perish,suckling and greybeard both together.	25 Di fuori li priverà di figli la spada, e di dentro il terrore: periranno insieme il giovane e la vergine, il lattante e il canuto.
26 I should crush them to dust, I said, I should wipe out al memory of them,	26 L'ho detto: li annienterò, cancellerò il loro ricordo tra gli uomini! se non temessi l'arroganza del nemico.
27 did I not fear the boasting of the enemy.' But do not let their foes be mistaken! Do not let them say,'We have got the upper hand and Yahweh plays no part in this.'	27 I loro avversari non s'ingannino e non dicano: Le nostre mani hanno prevalso, non è il Signore che ha operato tutto questo.
28 What a short-sighted nation this is, how thoroughly imperceptive!	28 Ma sono una nazione sconsiderata, in loro non c'è intelligenza.
29 Were they wise, they would succeed, they would be able to read their destiny.	29 Se fossero saggi comprenderebbero questo, conoscerebbero il loro avvenire.
30 How else could one man rout a thousand, how could two put ten thousand to flight, were it not thattheir Rock has sold them, that Yahweh has delivered them up?	30 Come mai uno ne insegue mille, due mettono in fuga diecimila, se non perché la loro Roccia li ha venduti, il Signore li ha abbandonati?
31 But their rock is not like our Rock; our enemies cannot pray for us!	31 Ma la loro roccia non è come la nostra Roccia: i nostri nemici ne sono giudici.
32 For their vine springs from the stock of Sodom and from the groves of Gomorrah: their grapes arepoisonous grapes, their clusters are bitter;	32 Dalle viti di Sodoma viene la loro vite, dalle piantagioni di Gomorra; la loro uva è uva velenosa, sono amari grappoli i loro;
33 their wine is snakes' poison, the vipers' cruel venom.	33 tossico di serpenti è il loro vino, veleno atroce di vipere.
34 But he, is he not safe with me, sealed inside my treasury?	34 Non è questo conservato presso di me, sigillato nei miei tesori?
35 Vengeance is mine, I wil pay them back, for the time when they make a false step. For the day oftheir ruin is close, doom is rushing towards them, for he wil see to it that their power fails. that neither serf norfree man remains.	35 per il giorno della vendetta e della retribuzione, per il tempo in cui vacillerà il loro piede: perché è vicino il giorno della loro rovina, si affretta il destino, per loro.
36 (For Yahweh wil see his people righted, he wil take pity on his servants.)	36 Ma il Signore fa giustizia al suo popolo, ha pietà dei suoi servi, quando vede mancare ogni forza, venir meno lo schiavo e il libero.
37 'Where are their gods then?' he wil ask, 'the rock where they sought refuge,	37 Allora dirà: "Dove sono i suoi dèi, la roccia in cui confidavano?
38 who ate the fat of their sacrifices and drank the wine of their libations?' Let these arise and help you,let these be the shelter above you!	38 Quelli che mangiavano il grasso dei suoi sacrifici, e bevevano il vino delle loro libazioni? Si levino, e vi aiutino, siano per voi un rifugio!
39 See now that I, I am he, and beside me there is no other god. It is I who deal death and life; when Ihave struck, it is I who heal (no one can rescue anyone from me).	39 Guardate ora, sono io, io! non c'è altro dio con me. Io faccio morire e faccio vivere, ho ferito e io guarisco; nessuno salva dalla mia mano.
40 Yes, I raise my hand to heaven, and I say, 'As surely as I live for ever,	40 Ecco, alzo al cielo la mano e dico: Vivo, io, per sempre!
41 When I have whetted my flashing sword, I shal enforce justice, I shal return vengeance to my foes, Ishall take vengeance on my foes.	41 Quando avrò affilato la mia spada folgorante e la mia mano si accingerà al giudizio, farò vendetta dei miei avversari, ripagherò quelli che mi odiano.
42 I shal make my arrows drunk with blood, and my sword wil feed on flesh: the blood of the woundedand the prisoners, the dishevelled heads of the enemy!'	42 Inebrierò le mie frecce di sangue, la mia spada divorerà la carne: sangue degli uccisi e dei prigionieri, teste dei prìncipi nemici".
43 Heavens, rejoice with him, let al the children of God pay him homage! Nations, rejoice with hispeople, let God's envoys tel of his power! For he wil avenge the blood of his servants, he wil return vengeanceto my foes, he will repay those who hate him and purify his people's country.	43 Esultate, o nazioni, per il suo popolo, perché rivendica il sangue dei suoi servi, fa vendetta dei suoi avversari, purifica la sua terra e il suo popolo".
44 Moses came with Joshua son of Nun and recited all the words of this song in the people's hearing.	44 Mosè venne con Giosuè, figlio di Nun, e recitò tutte le parole di questo cantico davanti al popolo.
45 When Moses had finished reciting these words to al Israel,	45 Quando Mosè ebbe finito di recitare tutte queste parole all'intero Israele,
46 he said to them, 'Take al these words to heart; I intend them today to be evidence against you. Youmust order your children to keep and observe al the words of this Law.	46 disse loro: "Prestate attenzione a tutte queste parole con cui testimonio contro di voi oggi; prescriverete ai vostri figli che osservino e mettano in pratica tutte le parole di questa legge.
47 You must not think of this as empty words, for the Law is your life, and by its means you will live longin the country which you are crossing the Jordan to possess.'	47 Perché non è una parola vana, per voi, ma è la vostra vita! Per questa parola prolungherete i vostri giorni sulla terra verso la quale andate, attraversando il Giordano per conquistarla".
48 Yahweh spoke to Moses that same day and said to him,	48 Il Signore disse a Mosè in quello stesso giorno:
49 'Climb this mountain of the Abarim, Mount Nebo, in the country of Moab, opposite Jericho, and viewthe Canaan which I am giving to the Israelites as their domain.	49 "Sali sulla montagna degli Abarim, sul monte Nebo che è nella terra di Moab di fronte a Gerico, e guarda la terra di Canaan, che dono ai figli d'Israele in proprietà.
50 Die on the mountain you have climbed, and be gathered to your people, as your brother Aaron diedon Mount Hor and was gathered to his people.	50 Muori sul monte su cui stai per salire e ricongiungiti ai tuoi antenati, come morì Aronne tuo fratello sul monte Or e si ricongiunse ai suoi antenati.
51 Because, with the other Israelites, you broke faith with me at the Waters of Meribah-Kadesh in thedesert of Zin, because you did not make my holiness clear to the Israelites;	51 Perché avete prevaricato contro di me in mezzo ai figli d'Israele, presso le acque di Meriba di Kades nel deserto di Zin, e non avete riconosciuto la mia santità fra i figli d'Israele.
52 you may only see the country from outside; you cannot enter it -- the country which I am giving to theIsraelites.'	52 Perciò ti vedrai davanti la terra, ma non entrerai in quella terra che dono ai figli d'Israele".
