Deuteronomy 32

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Listen, heavens, while I speak; hear, earth, the words that I shal say!	1 «Escucha, cielo, y hablaré. oiga la tierra las palabras de mi boca.
2 May my teaching fal like the rain, may my word drop down like the dew, like showers on the grass,like light rain on the turf!	2 Que mi enseñanza descienda como lluvia y mi palabra caiga como rocío, como aguacero sobre la hierba, como chaparrones sobre el pasto
3 For I shal proclaim the name of Yahweh. Oh, tell the greatness of our God!	3 Yo voy a proclamar el nombre del Señor: ¡den gloria a nuestro Dios!
4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect, for al his ways are equitable. A trustworthy God who does nowrong, he is the Honest, the Upright One!	4 El es la Roca: su obra es perfecta, todos sus caminos son justos; es un Dios fiel y sin falsedad, justiciero y recto.
5 They have acted perversely, those he fathered without blemish, a deceitful and underhand brood.	5 Pero se comportaron mal con él los que ya no son sus hijos, a causa de su depravación. esa generación tortuosa y perversa.
6 Is this the return you make to Yahweh? O people brainless and unwise! Is this not your father, whogave you being, who made you, by whom you subsist?	6 ¿Así le pagas al Señor, pueblo necio e insensato? ¿Acaso él no es tu padre y tu creador, el que te hizo y te afianzó?
7 Think back on the days of old, think over the years, down the ages. Question your father, let himexplain to you, your elders, and let them tel you!	7 Acuérdate de los días lejanos, considera las épocas pasadas; pregúntale a tu padre, y él te informará, a los ancianos, y ellos te lo dirán:
8 When the Most High gave the nations each their heritage, when he partitioned out the human race, heassigned the boundaries of nations according to the number of the children of God,	8 Cuando el Altísimo dio una herencia a cada nación, cuando distribuyó a los hombres, él fijó las fronteras de los pueblos según el número de los hijos de Dios.
9 but Yahweh's portion was his people, Jacob was to be the measure of his inheritance.	9 Pero la parte del Señor es su pueblo. la porción de su herencia es Jacob.
10 In the desert he finds him, in the howling expanses of the wastelands. He protects him, rears him,guards him as the pupil of his eye.	10 Lo encontró en una tierra desierta. en la soledad rugiente de la estepa: lo rodeó y lo cuidó. lo protegió como a la pupila de sus ojos.
11 Like an eagle watching its nest, hovering over its young, he spreads out his wings to hold him, hesupports him on his pinions.	11 Como el águila que impulsa a su nidada. revoloteando sobre sus pichones. así extendió sus alas, lo tomó y lo llevó sobre sus plumas.
12 Yahweh alone is his guide; no alien god for him!	12 El Señor solo lo condujo, no había a su lado ningún dios extranjero.
13 He gives him the heights of the land to ride, he feeds him on the yield of the mountains, he gives himhoney from the rock to taste, and oil from the flinty crag;	13 Lo puso encima de las alturas del país, para que comiera los frutos de los campos; lo alimentó con miel de los peñascos, con aceite de la roca dura;
14 curds from the cattle, milk from the flock, and the richness of the pasture, rams of Bashan's breed,and goats, the richness of the wheat kernel; the fermented blood of the grape for drink.	14 con cuajada de vaca y leche de oveja, con la gordura de corderos y cameros; con toros de Basán y con cabritos, y con la mejor harina de trigo; y le dio como bebida, la sangre espumante de la uva.
15 Jacob has eaten to his heart's content, Jeshurun, grown fat, has now lashed out. (You have grownfat, gross, bloated.) He has disowned the God who made him, and dishonoured the Rock, his salvation,	15 Así engordó lesurún y dio patadas –¡sí, engordaste, te pusiste obeso y corpulento!–. El rechazó al Dios que lo creó, despreció a su Roca salvadora.
16 whose jealousy they aroused with foreigners -- with things detestable they angered him.	16 Provocaron sus celos con dioses extraños, lo irritaron con abominaciones.
17 They sacrificed to demons who are not God, to gods hitherto unknown to them, to newcomers ofyesterday whom their ancestors had never respected.	17 Ofrecieron sacrificios a demonios que no son Dios. a dioses que no conocían, a dioses nuevos, recién llegados, que sus padres no habían venerado.
18 (You forget the Rock who fathered you, the God who made you, you no longer remember.)	18 Así despreciaste a la Roca que te engendró. olvidaste al Dios que te hizo nacer.
19 Yahweh saw it and, in anger, he spurned his sons and daughters.	19 Al ver esto, el Señor se indignó y desechó a sus hijos y a sus hijas.
20 'I shal hide my face from them,' he said, 'and see what wil become of them. For they are a deceitfulbrood, children with no loyalty in them.	20 Entonces dijo: Les ocultaré mi rostro, para ver en qué terminan. Porque son una generación perversa, hijos faltos de lealtad.
21 They have roused me to jealousy with a non-god, they have exasperated me with their idols. In myturn I shal rouse them to jealousy with a non-people, I shal exasperate them with a stupid nation.	21 Provocaron mis celos con algo que no es Dios. me irritaron con sus ídolos vanos; yo provocaré sus celos con algo que no es un pueblo, los irritaré con una nación insensata
22 Yes, a fire has blazed from my anger, it will burn right down to the depths of Sheol; it will devour theearth and al its produce, it wil set fire to the footings of the mountains.	22 Porque se ha encendido el fuego de mi ira y arderá hasta el fondo del abismo; consumirá la tierra y sus cosechas y abrasará los cimientos de las montañas.
23 I shal hurl disasters on them, on them I shal use up al my arrows.	23 Amontonaré desastres sobre ellos, lanzaré contra ellos todas mis flechas.
24 They wil be weakened by hunger, eaten away by plague and the bitter scourge. Against them I shalsend the fang of wild animals and the poison of snakes that glide in the dust.	24 Quedarán extenuados por el hambre, consumidos por la fiebre y la peste maligna; enviaré contra ellos los dientes de las fieras y el veneno de reptiles que se arrastran sobre el polvo.
25 Outside, the sword bereaves, while inside terror wil reign. Young man and girl alike will perish,suckling and greybeard both together.	25 Afuera los diezmará la espada. y adentro, el terror. tanto al joven como a la muchacha, al niño de pecho como al anciano.
26 I should crush them to dust, I said, I should wipe out al memory of them,	26 Yo me propuse reducirlos a polvo y borrar su recuerdo de entre los hombres,
27 did I not fear the boasting of the enemy.' But do not let their foes be mistaken! Do not let them say,'We have got the upper hand and Yahweh plays no part in this.'	27 pero temí que sus enemigos se jactaran, que cayeran en el error y dijeran: «Nuestra mano ha prevalecido, no es el Señor el que hizo todo esto».
28 What a short-sighted nation this is, how thoroughly imperceptive!	28 Porque esa gente ha perdido el juicio y carece de inteligencia.
29 Were they wise, they would succeed, they would be able to read their destiny.	29 Si fueran sensatos entenderían estas cosas. comprenderán la suerte que les espera
30 How else could one man rout a thousand, how could two put ten thousand to flight, were it not thattheir Rock has sold them, that Yahweh has delivered them up?	30 ¿Cómo podría uno solo desbandar a mil y dos, poner en fuga a diez mil, si su Roca no los hubiera vendido y el Señor no los hubiera entregado?
31 But their rock is not like our Rock; our enemies cannot pray for us!	31 Porque la roca de ellos no es como nuestra Roca: nuestros mismos enemigos lo confirman.
32 For their vine springs from the stock of Sodom and from the groves of Gomorrah: their grapes arepoisonous grapes, their clusters are bitter;	32 Su viña es un retoño de la viña de Sodoma. de las plantaciones de Gomorra. Sus uvas son uvas venenosas. sus racimos tienen un sabor amargo.
33 their wine is snakes' poison, the vipers' cruel venom.	33 Su vino es veneno de serpientes, un terrible veneno de víboras.
34 But he, is he not safe with me, sealed inside my treasury?	34 ¿Acaso no está esto registrado y sellado en mis archivos?
35 Vengeance is mine, I wil pay them back, for the time when they make a false step. For the day oftheir ruin is close, doom is rushing towards them, for he wil see to it that their power fails. that neither serf norfree man remains.	35 Mía será la venganza y la retribución en el momento que vacilen sus pies, porque está cerca el día de su ruina y ya se precipita el desenlace.
36 (For Yahweh wil see his people righted, he wil take pity on his servants.)	36 Sí, el Señor hará justicia con su pueblo y tendrá compasión de sus servidores. Cuando vea que sus manos flaquean y ya no quedan esclavos ni hombres libres,
37 'Where are their gods then?' he wil ask, 'the rock where they sought refuge,	37 él dirá: ¿Dónde están sus dioses, la roca donde buscaron un refugio
38 who ate the fat of their sacrifices and drank the wine of their libations?' Let these arise and help you,let these be the shelter above you!	38 los que comían la grasa de sus sacrificios y bebían el vino de sus libaciones? Que se levanten y vengan en su ayuda, que sean para ustedes un refugio.
39 See now that I, I am he, and beside me there is no other god. It is I who deal death and life; when Ihave struck, it is I who heal (no one can rescue anyone from me).	39 Miren bien que yo, sólo yo soy, y no hay otro dios junto a mí. Yo doy la muerte y la vida. yo hiero y doy la salud. y no hay nadie que libre de mi mano
40 Yes, I raise my hand to heaven, and I say, 'As surely as I live for ever,	40 Yo levanto mi mano hacia el cielo y juro: Tan cierto como que vivo eternamente,
41 When I have whetted my flashing sword, I shal enforce justice, I shal return vengeance to my foes, Ishall take vengeance on my foes.	41 cuando afile mi espada fulgurante y mi mano empuñe la justicia, me vengaré de mis enemigos y daré su merecido a mis adversarios.
42 I shal make my arrows drunk with blood, and my sword wil feed on flesh: the blood of the woundedand the prisoners, the dishevelled heads of the enemy!'	42 Embriagaré mis flechas con sangre mi espada devorará carne: sangre de muertos y cautivos, cabezas de jefes enemigos.
43 Heavens, rejoice with him, let al the children of God pay him homage! Nations, rejoice with hispeople, let God's envoys tel of his power! For he wil avenge the blood of his servants, he wil return vengeanceto my foes, he will repay those who hate him and purify his people's country.	43 Naciones, aclamen a su pueblo, porque él vengará la sangre de sus servidores, se vengará de sus enemigos y purificará su tierra y su pueblo».
44 Moses came with Joshua son of Nun and recited all the words of this song in the people's hearing.	44 Moisés fue con Josué, hijo de Nun, y recitó delante del pueblo todas las palabras de este poema.
45 When Moses had finished reciting these words to al Israel,	45 Cuando Moisés terminó de recitar estas palabras a todo Israel,
46 he said to them, 'Take al these words to heart; I intend them today to be evidence against you. Youmust order your children to keep and observe al the words of this Law.	46 les dijo: «Presten atención a todas las palabras de esta Ley, con las que hoy atestiguo contra ustedes. Prescríbanselas a sus hijos, para que ellos practiquen cuidadosamente todas las palabras de esta Ley.
47 You must not think of this as empty words, for the Law is your life, and by its means you will live longin the country which you are crossing the Jordan to possess.'	47 Porque esta no es una palabra vana, sino que es la vida de ustedes, y por ella vivirán muchos años en la tierra que van a poseer después que crucen el Jordán».
48 Yahweh spoke to Moses that same day and said to him,	48 Aquel mismo día, el Señor dijo a Moisés:
49 'Climb this mountain of the Abarim, Mount Nebo, in the country of Moab, opposite Jericho, and viewthe Canaan which I am giving to the Israelites as their domain.	49 «Sube a esa montaña de los Abarím, al monte Nebo que está en el país de Moab, frente a Jericó, y contempla la tierra de Canaán que yo doy en propiedad a los israelitas.
50 Die on the mountain you have climbed, and be gathered to your people, as your brother Aaron diedon Mount Hor and was gathered to his people.	50 Tú morirás en la montaña a la que vas a subir e irás a reunirte con los tuyos, como tu hermano Aarón murió en el monte Hor y fue a reunirse con los suyos.
51 Because, with the other Israelites, you broke faith with me at the Waters of Meribah-Kadesh in thedesert of Zin, because you did not make my holiness clear to the Israelites;	51 Porque ustedes fueron infieles a mí junto a las aguas de Meribá de Cades, en el desierto de Sin, y no manifestaron mi santidad en medio de los israelitas.
52 you may only see the country from outside; you cannot enter it -- the country which I am giving to theIsraelites.'	52 Por eso no entrarás en la tierra que yo daré a los israelitas, sino que solamente la verás de lejos».
