Deuteronomy 30

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA MARTINI
1 'And when all these words have come true for you -- the blessing and the curse, which I have offeredyou -- if you meditate on them in your heart wherever among the nations Yahweh your God has driven you,	1 Quando adunque tutte queste cose ti saranno accadute, e avrai provato la benedizione, e la maledizione, che io ti ho messo davanti agli occhi; e pentito in cuor tuo trovandoti in mezzo alle genti, tra le quali il Signore Dio tuo ti avrà disperso,
2 if you return to Yahweh your God, if with al your heart and with all your soul you obey his voice, youand your children, in everything that I am laying down for you today,	2 A lui ritornerai, e obbedirai a' suoi comandamenti, tu, e i tuoi figliuoli, con tutto il tuo cuore, e con tutta l’anima tua, come io oggi ti prescrivo:
3 then Yahweh your God wil bring back your captives, he will have pity on you and gather you backfrom al the peoples among whom Yahweh your God has scattered you.	3 Il Signore Dio tuo sciorrà la tua schiavitù, e avrà misericordia di te, e ti raunerà di bel nuovo da tutti i paesi, pe' quali ti avea già disperso.
4 Should you have been banished to the very sky's end, Yahweh your God will gather you again evenfrom there, wil come there to reclaim you	4 Quando tu fossi stato sbalzato fino ai cardini del cielo, di colà ti ritrarrà il Signore Dio tuo,
5 and bring you back to the country which belonged to your ancestors, so that you may possess it inyour turn, and be made prosperous there and more numerous than your ancestors.	5 E ti prenderà, e ti introdurrà nella terra posseduta da' padri tuoi, e tu pur la possederai: e benedicendoti ti farà crescer di numero più di quello che fossero i padri tuoi.
6 'Yahweh your God wil circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants, so that you wil loveYahweh your God with all your heart and soul, and so wil live.	6 Il Signore Dio tuo circonciderà il cuor tuo, e il cuore de’ tuoi figliuoli, affinché tu ami il Signore Dio tuo con tutto il tuo cuore, e con tutta l'anima tua, affinché tu possi vivere.
7 Yahweh your God wil make al these curses recoil on your foes and on your enemies who havepersecuted you.	7 E tutte quelle maledizioni le rovescerà sopra i tuoi nemici, e sopra quelli che ti odiano, e ti perseguitano.
8 And once again you will obey the voice of Yahweh your God and you wil put all his commandmentsinto practice, which I am laying down for you today.	8 Ma tu tornerai, e ascolterai la voce del Signore Dio tuo: e adempirai tutti quanti i comandamenti, che io oggi t'intimo:
9 Yahweh your God wil make you prosper in al your labours, in the offspring of your body, in the yieldof your cattle and in the yield of your soil. For once again Yahweh will delight in your prosperity as he used totake delight in the prosperity of your ancestors,	9 E ti benedirà il Signore Dio tuo in tutte le opere delle tue mani, nella prole del tuo seno, e nei parti de' tuoi bestiami, nella fecondità de' tuoi terreni e nell'abbondanza di tutte le cose. Perocché tornerà il Signore a compiacersi in dare a te tutti i beni, come si compiacque inverso de' padri tuoi:
10 if you obey the voice of Yahweh your God, by keeping his commandments and decrees written in thebook of this Law, and if you return to Yahweh your God with all your heart and soul.	10 Purché tu la voce ascolti del Signore Dio tuo, e osservi i suoi precetti, e le cerimonie prescritte in questa legge: e al Signore Dio tuo ritorni con tutto il cuor tuo e con tutta l'anima tua.
11 'For this Law which I am laying down for you today is neither obscure for you nor beyond your reach.	11 Questo comandamento che io oggi ti annunzio, non è sopra di te, né lungi da te,
12 It is not in heaven, so that you need to wonder, "Who wil go up to heaven for us and bring it down tous, so that we can hear and practise it?"	12 Né è riposto nel cielo, onde tu possa dire: Chi di noi può salire al cielo per indi recarlo a noi, affinché lo ascoltiamo, e lo ponghiamo in esecuzione?
13 Nor is it beyond the seas, so that you need to wonder, "Who will cross the seas for us and bring itback to us, so that we can hear and practise it?"	13 Né è posto di là dai mari, onde tu trovi pretesto e dica: Chi di noi potrà valicare il mare per portarlo a noi fin di là, onde possiamo udirlo, e fare quello che è comandato?
14 No, the word is very near to you, it is in your mouth and in your heart for you to put into practice.	14 Ma molto vicina a te ell’è la parola, ell’è nella tua bocca, e nel cuor tuo, affinché tu la eseguisca.
15 'Look, today I am offering you life and prosperity, death and disaster.	15 Ripensa come io oggi ho proposto dinanzi a te la vita, e il bene, e d’altra parte la morte, e il male:
16 If you obey the commandments of Yahweh your God, which I am laying down for you today, if youlove Yahweh your God and fol ow his ways, if you keep his commandments, his laws and his customs, you willlive and grow numerous, and Yahweh your God wil bless you in the country which you are about to enter andmake your own.	16 Affinché tu ami il Signore Dio tuo, e cammini nelle sue vie, e osservi i suoi comandamenti, e le cerimonie, e le leggi: e abbi la vita, ed ei ti moltiplichi, e ti benedica nella terra, di cui tu entrerai al possesso.
17 But if your heart turns away, if you refuse to listen, if you let yourself be drawn into worshipping othergods and serving them,	17 Ma se il cuor tuo si volgesse indietro, e tu non volessi obbedire, e sedotto da errore adorassi gli dei stranieri, e a questi rendessi culto:
18 I tel you today, you will most certainly perish; you will not live for long in the country which you arecrossing the Jordan to enter and possess.	18 Io ti profetizzo oggi che tu andrai in ruina, e in poco tempo non sarai più nella terra, di cui, passato il Giordano, entrerai in possesso.
19 Today, I call heaven and earth to witness against you: I am offering you life or death, blessing orcurse. Choose life, then, so that you and your descendants may live,	19 Io chiamo in testimoni il cielo, e la terra, come io ti ho oggi proposta la vita e la morte, la benedizione e la maledizione. Eleggi adunque la vita, affinché la vita abbi tu, e i tuoi figliuoli;
20 in the love of Yahweh your God, obeying his voice, holding fast to him; for in this your life consists,and on this depends the length of time that you stay in the country which Yahweh swore to your ancestorsAbraham, Isaac and Jacob that he would give them.'	20 E ami il Signore Dio tuo, e alla voce di lui obbedisca, e con lui resti unito (perocché egli è la tua vita, e la lunghezza dei giorni tuoi) affinché tu abiti nella terra, la quale il Signore giurò di dare ai padri tuoi Abramo, Isacco, e Giacobbe.
