Deuteronomy 30

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLES DES PEUPLES
1 'And when all these words have come true for you -- the blessing and the curse, which I have offeredyou -- if you meditate on them in your heart wherever among the nations Yahweh your God has driven you,	1 Tout ce que je viens de te dire se réalisera pour toi: les promesses de bénédiction, mais aussi les malédictions. Quand tu te retrouveras chez ces nations où Yahvé ton Dieu t’aura chassé, tu te les rappelleras sérieusement.
2 if you return to Yahweh your God, if with al your heart and with all your soul you obey his voice, youand your children, in everything that I am laying down for you today,	2 Si alors, toi et tes fils, vous revenez à Yahvé ton Dieu, si vous écoutez sa voix de tout votre cœur et de toute votre âme, comme je vous le demande aujourd’hui,
3 then Yahweh your God wil bring back your captives, he will have pity on you and gather you backfrom al the peoples among whom Yahweh your God has scattered you.	3 Yahvé ton Dieu ramènera tes captifs, il aura pitié de toi et te rassemblera du milieu de tous les peuples où il t’aura dispersé.
4 Should you have been banished to the very sky's end, Yahweh your God will gather you again evenfrom there, wil come there to reclaim you	4 Même si ton peuple était chassé jusqu’aux extrémités du ciel, de là-bas Yahvé te rassemblerait; ton Dieu irait là-bas te reprendre.
5 and bring you back to the country which belonged to your ancestors, so that you may possess it inyour turn, and be made prosperous there and more numerous than your ancestors.	5 Yahvé ton Dieu te ramènera dans le pays que possédaient tes pères, et de nouveau tu le posséderas, il te bénira et te rendra plus nombreux que tes pères.
6 'Yahweh your God wil circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants, so that you wil loveYahweh your God with all your heart and soul, and so wil live.	6 Yahvé ton Dieu circoncira ton cœur et le cœur de ta race pour que tu aimes ton Dieu de tout ton cœur et de toute ton âme et que tu vives.
7 Yahweh your God wil make al these curses recoil on your foes and on your enemies who havepersecuted you.	7 Alors Yahvé ton Dieu fera retomber toutes ces malédictions sur tes ennemis, sur ceux qui t’auront persécuté parce qu’ils te haïssent.
8 And once again you will obey the voice of Yahweh your God and you wil put all his commandmentsinto practice, which I am laying down for you today.	8 Mais toi tu reviendras et tu écouteras la voix de Yahvé, tu mettras en pratique tous ses commandements que je te donne aujourd’hui.
9 Yahweh your God wil make you prosper in al your labours, in the offspring of your body, in the yieldof your cattle and in the yield of your soil. For once again Yahweh will delight in your prosperity as he used totake delight in the prosperity of your ancestors,	9 De son côté, Yahvé ton Dieu fera que tu sois heureux dans tout ce que tu entreprendras: il bénira le fruit de tes entrailles, le fruit de ton bétail et le fruit de tes champs. Oui, de nouveau Yahvé prendra plaisir à ton bonheur comme il prenait plaisir au bonheur de tes pères,
10 if you obey the voice of Yahweh your God, by keeping his commandments and decrees written in thebook of this Law, and if you return to Yahweh your God with all your heart and soul.	10 puisque tu écouteras sa voix. Car tu observeras les commandements et les préceptes de Yahvé ton Dieu, tout ce qui est écrit dans ce livre de la Loi, et tu reviendras vers Yahvé ton Dieu de tout ton cœur et de toute ton âme.
11 'For this Law which I am laying down for you today is neither obscure for you nor beyond your reach.	11 Ce commandement que je te donne aujourd’hui n’est pas impossible pour toi, il n’est pas au-dessus de tes forces.
12 It is not in heaven, so that you need to wonder, "Who wil go up to heaven for us and bring it down tous, so that we can hear and practise it?"	12 Il n’est pas dans les cieux, car alors tu pourrais dire: “Qui montera jusqu’aux cieux pour nous le chercher? Qui nous le fera entendre, pour que nous le mettions en pratique?”
13 Nor is it beyond the seas, so that you need to wonder, "Who will cross the seas for us and bring itback to us, so that we can hear and practise it?"	13 Il n’est pas non plus au-delà des mers, car alors tu pourrais dire: “Qui traversera la mer pour nous le chercher? Qui nous le fera entendre, pour que nous le mettions en pratique?”
14 No, the word is very near to you, it is in your mouth and in your heart for you to put into practice.	14 Non, cette parole est toute proche de toi: tu l’as à la bouche, tu la sais par cœur, tu n’as qu’à la mettre en pratique.
15 'Look, today I am offering you life and prosperity, death and disaster.	15 Regarde, je place aujourd’hui devant toi la vie et le bien, la mort et le mal.
16 If you obey the commandments of Yahweh your God, which I am laying down for you today, if youlove Yahweh your God and fol ow his ways, if you keep his commandments, his laws and his customs, you willlive and grow numerous, and Yahweh your God wil bless you in the country which you are about to enter andmake your own.	16 Ce que je te commande aujourd’hui, c’est d’aimer Yahvé ton Dieu, de marcher dans ses voies, d’observer ses commandements, ses préceptes et ses ordonnances. Alors tu vivras et tu te multiplieras: Yahvé ton Dieu te bénira dans le pays où tu vas entrer pour le posséder.
17 But if your heart turns away, if you refuse to listen, if you let yourself be drawn into worshipping othergods and serving them,	17 Mais si ton cœur se détourne de Yahvé, si tu ne l’écoutes pas, si tu te laisses entraîner, si tu adores d’autres dieux et si tu les sers,
18 I tel you today, you will most certainly perish; you will not live for long in the country which you arecrossing the Jordan to enter and possess.	18 je te le dis aujourd’hui solennellement: vous êtes sûrs de mourir. Vous ne durerez pas dans le pays où tu vas entrer pour le posséder, après avoir traversé le Jourdain.
19 Today, I call heaven and earth to witness against you: I am offering you life or death, blessing orcurse. Choose life, then, so that you and your descendants may live,	19 Je prends aujourd’hui les cieux et la terre comme témoins de cette mise en garde: j’ai placé devant toi la vie et la mort, la bénédiction et la malédiction. Choisis donc la vie pour que tu vives, et ta race aussi après toi.
20 in the love of Yahweh your God, obeying his voice, holding fast to him; for in this your life consists,and on this depends the length of time that you stay in the country which Yahweh swore to your ancestorsAbraham, Isaac and Jacob that he would give them.'	20 Tu aimeras Yahvé ton Dieu, tu écouteras sa voix, tu t’attacheras à lui. C’est pour toi une question de vie, là est pour toi l’assurance de jours nombreux dans le pays que Yahvé a juré à tes pères Abraham, Isaac et Jacob, de leur donner.”
