1 He got back in the boat, crossed the water and came to his home town.	1 E montato in una piccola barca ripassò il lago, e andò nella sua città.
2 And suddenly some people brought him a paralytic stretched out on a bed. Seeing their faith, Jesussaid to the paralytic, 'Take comfort, my child, your sins are forgiven.'	2 Quand' ecco gli presentarono un paralitico giacente nel letto. E veduta Gesù la loro fede, disse al paralitico: Figliuolo, confida, ti son perdonati i tuoi peccati.
3 And now some scribes said to themselves, 'This man is being blasphemous.'	3 E subito alcuni degli Scribi dissero dentro di se: Costui bestemmia.
4 Knowing what was in their minds Jesus said, 'Why do you have such wicked thoughts in your hearts?	4 E avendo Gesù veduti i loro pensieri, disse: Perché peniate voi male in cuor vostro?
5 Now, which of these is easier: to say, "Your sins are forgiven," or to say, "Get up and walk"?	5 Che è più facile di dire: Ti sono perdonati i tuoi peccati, o di dire: sorgi e cammina?
6 But to prove to you that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins,' -- then he said to theparalytic-'get up, pick up your bed and go off home.'	6 Or affinché voi sappiate, che il figliuol dell'uomo ha la potestà sopra la terra di rimettere i peccati: Sorgi, disse egli allora al paralitico, piglia il tuo letto, e vattene a casa tua.
7 And the man got up and went home.	7 Ed egli si rizzò, e andossene a casa sua.
8 A feeling of awe came over the crowd when they saw this, and they praised God for having given suchauthority to human beings.	8 Ciò vedendo le turbe si intimorirono, e glorificarono Dio, che tanta potestà diede ad uomini.
9 As Jesus was walking on from there he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office, and he saidto him, 'Fol ow me.' And he got up and followed him.	9 E partitosi Gesù di là, vide un uomo, che sedeva al banco, di nome Matteo. E gli disse: Sieguimi. Ed egli alzatosi, lo seguitò.
10 Now while he was at table in the house it happened that a number of tax col ectors and sinners cameto sit at the table with Jesus and his disciples.	10 Ed essendo egli a tavola nella casa, ecco, che venutivi molti pubblicani, e peccatori, si misero a tavola con Gesù, e co' suoi discepoli.
11 When the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, 'Why does your master eat with tax col ectorsand sinners?'	11 Il che avendo veduto i Farisei, dicevano a' suoi discepoli: Perché mai il vostro maestro mangia coi pubblicani, e coi peccatori?
12 When he heard this he replied, 'It is not the healthy who need the doctor, but the sick.	12 Ma Gesù avendo ciò udito, disse loro: Non hanno bisogno del medico i sani, ma gli ammalati.
13 Go and learn the meaning of the words: Mercy is what pleases me, not sacrifice. And indeed I came tocal not the upright, but sinners.'	13 Ma andate, e imparate quel che sia: Io amo meglio la misericordia, che il sagrifizio; imperocché non son venuto a chiamare i giusti, ma i peccatori.
14 Then John's disciples came to him and said, 'Why is it that we and the Pharisees fast, but yourdisciples do not?'	14 Allora si accostarono a lui i discepoli di Giovanni, e gli dissero: Per qual motivo noi, e i Farisei digiuniamo frequentemente, e i tuoi discepoli non digiunano?
15 Jesus replied, 'Surely the bridegroom's attendants cannot mourn as long as the bridegroom is stil withthem? But the time will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they wil fast.	15 E Gesù disse loro: Possono forse i compagni dello sposo essere in lutto, fintantoché lo sposo è con essi? Ma verrà il tempo, che sarà loro tolto lo sposo, e allora digiuneranno.
16 No one puts a piece of unshrunken cloth onto an old cloak, because the patch pul s away from thecloak and the tear gets worse.	16 Nissuno attacca un pezzo di panno nuovo a un vestito usato: imperocché quella sua giunta porta via qualche cosa al vestito, e la rottura si fa peggiore.
17 Nor do people put new wine into old wineskins; otherwise, the skins burst, the wine runs out, and theskins are lost. No; they put new wine in fresh skins and both are preserved.'	17 Né mettono il vino nuovo in otri vecchi: altrimenti si rompono gli otri, e si versa il vino, e gli otri vanno in malora; ma si mette il vino nuovo in otri nuovi, e l'uno, e gli altri conservansi.
18 While he was speaking to them, suddenly one of the officials came up, who bowed low in front of himand said, 'My daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand on her and her life will be saved.'	18 In quello, che gli diceva loro queste cose, ecco che uno dei principali se gli accostò, e lo adorava, dicendo: Signore, or ora la mia figliuola è morta; ma vieni, imponi la tua mano sopra di essa, e viverà.
19 Jesus rose and, with his disciples, fol owed him.	19 E Gesù alzatosi gli andò dietro co' suoi discepoli.
20 Then suddenly from behind him came a woman, who had been suffering from a haemorrhage fortwelve years, and she touched the fringe of his cloak,	20 Quand' ecco una donna, la quale da dodici anni pativa una perdita di sangue, se gli accostò per di dietro, e toccò il lembo della sua veste.
21 for she was thinking, 'If only I can touch his cloak I shall be saved.'	21 Imperocché diceva dentro di se: Soltanto che io tocchi la sua veste, sarò guarita.
22 Jesus turned round and saw her; and he said to her, 'Courage, my daughter, your faith has saved you.'And from that moment the woman was saved.	22 Ma Gesù rivoltosi, e miratala le disse: Sta' di buon animo, o figlia, la tua fede ti ha salvata, e da quel punto la donna fu liberata.
23 When Jesus reached the official's house and saw the flute-players, with the crowd making acommotion, he said,	23 Ed essendo Gesù arrivato alla casa di quel principale, e avendo veduto i trombetti, e una turba di gente, che faceva molto strepito, diceva:
24 'Get out of here; the little girl is not dead; she is asleep.' And they ridiculed him.	24 Ritiratevi: perché la fanciulla non è morta, ma dorme. Ed essi si burlavano di lui.
25 But when the people had been turned out he went inside and took her by the hand; and she stood up.	25 Quando poi fu messa fuori la gente, egli entrò, e la prese per mano: e la fanciulla si alzò.
26 And the news of this spread al round the countryside.	26 E se ne divolgò la fama per tutto quel paese.
27 As Jesus went on his way two blind men fol owed him shouting, 'Take pity on us, son of David.'	27 E quindi partendo Gesù, due ciechi lo seguitarono, gridando, e dicendo: Figliuolo di David, abbi pietà di noi.
28 And when Jesus reached the house the blind men came up to him and he said to them, 'Do youbelieve I can do this?' They said, 'Lord, we do.'	28 Quando poi egli fu arrivato a casa, i ciechi se gli presentarono. E Gesù disse loro: Credete voi, che io vi posso far questo? gli dicono: Si, Signore.
29 Then he touched their eyes saying, 'According to your faith, let it be done to you.'	29 Allora toccò loro gli occhi, dicendo: Siavi fatto secondo la vostra fede.
30 And their sight returned. Then Jesus sternly warned them, 'Take care that no one learns about this.'	30 E aprironsi i loro occhi: e Gesù li minacciò dicendo; Badate, che nessuno lo sappia.
31 But when they had gone away, they talked about him al over the countryside.	31 Ma quegli essendosene andati, sparsero la fama di lui per tutto quel paese.
32 They had only just left when suddenly a man was brought to him, a dumb demoniac.	32 Partiti questi, gli presentarono un mutolo indemoniato.
33 And when the devil was driven out, the dumb man spoke and the people were amazed and said,'Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel.'	33 E cacciato il demonio, il mutolo parlò, e ne restarono maravigliate le turbe, le quali dicevano: Non mai si è veduta cosa tale in Israele.
34 But the Pharisees said, 'It is through the prince of devils that he drives out devils.'	34 Ma i Farisei dicevano: Egli caccia i demonj per mezzo del principe de demonj.
35 Jesus made a tour through al the towns and vil ages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming thegood news of the kingdom and curing al kinds of disease and al kinds of il ness.	35 E Gesù andava girando per tutte le città, e castelli, insegnando nelle loro sinagoghe, e predicando il Vangelo del regno, e sanando tutti i languori, e tutte le malattie.
36 And when he saw the crowds he felt sorry for them because they were harassed and dejected, likesheep without a shepherd.	36 E vedendo quelle turbe n' ebbe compassione: perché erano malcondotte, e giacevano come pecore senza pastore.
37 Then he said to his disciples, 'The harvest is rich but the labourers are few, so ask the Lord of theharvest to send out labourers to his harvest.'	37 Allora disse a' suoi discepoli: La messe è veramente copiosa; ma gli operai sono pochi.
	38 Pregate adunque il padron della messe, che mandi operai alla sua messe.
