NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 Disaster to the city of blood, packed throughout with lies, stuffed with booty, where plundering has noend!	1 Ai da cidade sanguinária, cheia de fraude e de violência, e que não põe termo à sua rapinagem!
2 The crack of the whip! The rumble of wheels! Gal oping horse, jolting chariot,	2 Ruído de chicote! Estrondo de rodas! cavalos a relinchar, carros a dançar,
3 charging cavalry, flashing swords, gleaming spears, a mass of wounded, hosts of dead, countlesscorpses; they stumble over corpses-	3 cavaleiros à brida, espadas que reluzem, lanças que cintilam, multidão de feridos, mortos em massa, cadáveres sem número, nos quais se tropeça...
4 because of the countless whorings of the harlot, the graceful beauty, the cunning witch, who enslavednations by her harlotries and tribes by her spells.	4 Eis aí o fruto das numerosas fornicações da meretriz tão cheia de encanto, hábil feiticeira, que enganava as nações com seus atrativos, e os povos com seus sortilégios.
5 Look, I am against you!- declares Yahweh Sabaoth- I shal lift your skirts as high as your face and showyour nakedness to the nations, your shame to the kingdoms.	5 Eis que venho contra ti - oráculo do Senhor dos exércitos. Vou arregaçar teu vestido até teu rosto, e mostrar tua nudez às nações, aos reinos a tua vergonha.
6 I shal pelt you with filth, I shal shame you and put you in the pil ory.	6 Vou cobrir-te de imundícies para te aviltar, e te exporei como espetáculo.
7 Then al who look at you wil shrink from you and say, 'Nineveh has been ruined!' Who wil mourn forher? Where would I find people to comfort you?	7 Todos os que te virem fugirão para longe de ti, dizendo: Nínive está arruinada! Quem se apiedará de ti? Aonde te irei buscar consoladores?
8 Are you better off than No-Amon situated among rivers, her defences the seas, her rampart the waters?	8 Vales porventura mais do que No-Amon, que está situada entre os braços do Nilo, cercada de água, tendo o mar por defesa, as águas por muralha?
9 In Ethiopia and Egypt lay her strength, and it was boundless; Put and the Libyans served in her army.	9 A Etiópia era a sua força, como também o Egito, de enorme população; Fut e os líbios eram seus aliados.
10 But she too went into exile, into captivity; her little ones too were dashed to pieces at every crossroad;lots were drawn for her nobles, al her great men were put in chains.	10 Não obstante isso, ela foi levada cativa para o exílio; seus filhos foram esmagados nos cantos das ruas, lançaram-se sortes sobre seus nobres, e todos os seus chefes foram carregados de cadeias.
11 You too wil become drunk, you wil go into hiding; you too will have to search for a refuge from theenemy.	11 Também tu, em tua embriaguez, desfalecerás. Também tu procurarás um refúgio contra o inimigo.
12 Your fortifications are all fig trees, with early ripening figs: as soon as they are shaken, they fall intothe mouth of the eater.	12 Todas as tuas fortalezas são como figueiras, carregadas de figos maduros: se são sacudidas, os figos caem na boca de quem os quiser comer.
13 Look at your people: you are a nation of women! The gates of your country gape open to yourenemies; fire has devoured their bars!	13 Teus guerreiros estão no meio de ti como mulheres. As portas de tua terra abrem-se por si sós ao inimigo. O fogo devorou teus ferrolhos.
14 Draw yourselves water for the siege, strengthen your fortifications! Into the mud with you, puddle theclay, repair the brick-kiln!	14 Abastece-te de água para o cerco; repara tuas fortificações, amassa a argila, pisa o barro, pega na forma de tijolos.
15 There the fire wil burn you up, the sword wil cut you down. Make yourselves as numerous as locusts,make yourselves as numerous as the hoppers,	15 Aí o fogo te devorará, a espada te exterminará; ela te devorará como o gafanhoto, ainda que fosses numeroso como o gafanhoto, e te multiplicasses como o grilo.
16 let your commercial agents outnumber the stars of heaven,	16 Teus corretores são mais numerosos que as estrelas do céu; o gafanhoto abre suas asas e voa.
17 your garrisons, like locusts, and your marshals, like swarms of hoppers! They settle on the wal s whenthe day is cold. The sun appears, the locusts spread their wings, they fly away,away they fly, no one knowswhere. Alas,	17 Teus guardas são numerosos como os gafanhotos, e teus chefes como uma nuvem de insetos que pousam sobre as sebes num dia de frio; logo que o sol nasce, fogem, sem que se saiba para onde foram.
18 your shepherds are asleep, king of Assyria, your bravest men slumber; your people are scattered onthe mountains with no one to gather them.	18 Teus pastores dormem, ó rei de Assur, teus heróis estão inertes. Teu povo está disperso pelas montanhas sem que ninguém o ajunte.
19 There is no remedy for your wound, your injury is past healing. All who hear the news of you clap theirhands at your downfal . For who has not felt your unrelenting cruelty?	19 Não há remédio para a tua ferida, tua chaga é incurável. Todos os que forem informados de tua sorte aplaudirão pelo que te acontece. Sobre quem, com efeito, não tem passado continuamente a tua malícia?
