NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Disaster to the city of blood, packed throughout with lies, stuffed with booty, where plundering has noend!	1 ¡Ay de la ciudad sanguinaria, repleta de mentira, llena de rapiña, que nunca suelta la presa!
2 The crack of the whip! The rumble of wheels! Gal oping horse, jolting chariot,	2 ¡Chasquido de látigos, estrépito de ruedas, galope de caballos, rodar de carros,
3 charging cavalry, flashing swords, gleaming spears, a mass of wounded, hosts of dead, countlesscorpses; they stumble over corpses-	3 carga de caballería, centelleo de espadas, relampagueo de lanzas! ¡Multitud de víctimas, cuerpos a montones, cadáveres por todas partes! ¡Se tropiezan con los cadáveres!
4 because of the countless whorings of the harlot, the graceful beauty, the cunning witch, who enslavednations by her harlotries and tribes by her spells.	4 Por las muchas prostituciones de la prostituta llena de encanto, maestra en sortilegios, que esclavizaba a naciones y tribus con sus prostituciones y sortilegios,
5 Look, I am against you!- declares Yahweh Sabaoth- I shal lift your skirts as high as your face and showyour nakedness to the nations, your shame to the kingdoms.	5 ¡aquí estoy contra ti! –oráculo del Señor de los ejércitos –Te descubriré las faldas hasta el rostro, mostraré a las naciones tu desnudez y a los reinos tu infamia.
6 I shal pelt you with filth, I shal shame you and put you in the pil ory.	6 Arrojaré inmundicias sobre ti, te cubriré de ignominia y te expondré como espectáculo.
7 Then al who look at you wil shrink from you and say, 'Nineveh has been ruined!' Who wil mourn forher? Where would I find people to comfort you?	7 Así, todo el que te ve huirá lejos de ti, diciendo: «¡Nínive ha sido devastada! ¿Quién se lamentará por ella? ¿Dónde iré a buscar alguien que te consuele?».
8 Are you better off than No-Amon situated among rivers, her defences the seas, her rampart the waters?	8 ¿Acaso vales más que No Amón, asentada entre las corrientes del Nilo, rodeada por las aguas, con un mar como baluarte y el agua como muralla?
9 In Ethiopia and Egypt lay her strength, and it was boundless; Put and the Libyans served in her army.	9 Cus y Egipto eran su fuerza, una fuerza ilimitada; Put y los libios eran sus auxiliares.
10 But she too went into exile, into captivity; her little ones too were dashed to pieces at every crossroad;lots were drawn for her nobles, al her great men were put in chains.	10 También ella fue deportada, tuvo que ir al cautiverio. También sus recién nacidos fueron estrellados en todas las encrucijadas. Se echó la suerte sobre sus nobles, todos sus grandes fueron cargados de cadenas.
11 You too wil become drunk, you wil go into hiding; you too will have to search for a refuge from theenemy.	11 También tú serás embriagada y quedarás embotada. También tú buscarás un refugio delante del enemigo.
12 Your fortifications are all fig trees, with early ripening figs: as soon as they are shaken, they fall intothe mouth of the eater.	12 Todas tus plazas fuertes son higueras cargadas de brevas: se las sacude, y ellas caen en la boca del que las come.
13 Look at your people: you are a nation of women! The gates of your country gape open to yourenemies; fire has devoured their bars!	13 ¡Tus tropas, dentro de ti, son una sarta de mujeres! A tu enemigo se le abren de par en par las puertas de tu país: ¡el fuego ha devorado tus cerrojos!
14 Draw yourselves water for the siege, strengthen your fortifications! Into the mud with you, puddle theclay, repair the brick-kiln!	14 ¡Abastécete de agua para el asedio, refuerza tus defensas, entre en el barro y pisa la arcilla, toma el molde para los ladrillos!
15 There the fire wil burn you up, the sword wil cut you down. Make yourselves as numerous as locusts,make yourselves as numerous as the hoppers,	15 Allí el fuego te devorará, la espada te exterminará. ¡Prolifera como el pulgón! ¡Prolifera como la langosta!
16 let your commercial agents outnumber the stars of heaven,	16 Has multiplicado tus traficantes más que las estrellas del cielo.
17 your garrisons, like locusts, and your marshals, like swarms of hoppers! They settle on the wal s whenthe day is cold. The sun appears, the locusts spread their wings, they fly away,away they fly, no one knowswhere. Alas,	17 Tus capitanes son como langostas, tus escribas, como un enjambre de insectos, que se posan sobre los cercos en un día de frío. Sale el sol y se escapan,
18 your shepherds are asleep, king of Assyria, your bravest men slumber; your people are scattered onthe mountains with no one to gather them.	18 ¡Cómo se han adormecido tus pastores, rey de Asiria! Tus tropas escogidas yacen inertes, tu pueblo está disperso por las montañas y no hay quien los reúna.
19 There is no remedy for your wound, your injury is past healing. All who hear the news of you clap theirhands at your downfal . For who has not felt your unrelenting cruelty?	19 Tu fractura no tiene remedio, tu herida es incurable. Todos los que oyen la noticia aplauden por tu ruina. Porque ¿sobre quién no ha pasado tu incesante maldad?
