1 These were the descendants of Aaron and Moses, at the time when Yahweh spoke to Moses onMount Sinai.	1 Questi sono i discendenti di Aronne e di Mosè, quando il Signore parlò con Mosè sul monte Sinai.
2 These were the names of Aaron's sons: Nadab the eldest, then Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.	2 Questi sono i nomi dei figli di Aronne: il primogenito Nadab, poi Abiu, Eleàzaro e Itamàr.
3 Such were the names of Aaron's sons, priests anointed and invested with the powers of thepriesthood.	3 Tali i nomi dei figli di Aronne, i sacerdoti consacrati con l'unzione, che avevano ricevuto l'investitura per esercitare il sacerdozio.
4 Nadab and Abihu died in Yahweh's presence, in the desert of Sinai, when they offered unauthorisedfire before Yahweh. They left no children and so it fel to Eleazar and Ithamar to exercise the priesthood undertheir father Aaron.	4 Nadab e Abiu morirono davanti al Signore, quando offrirono fuoco illegittimo davanti al Signore, nel deserto del Sinai. Essi non avevano figli. Eleàzaro e Itamàr esercitarono il sacerdozio alla presenza di Aronne, loro padre.
5 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:	5 Il Signore parlò a Mosè e disse:
6 'Muster the tribe of Levi and put it at the disposal of the priest Aaron: they must be at his service.	6 «Fa’ avvicinare la tribù dei leviti e presentala al sacerdote Aronne, perché sia al suo servizio.
7 They wil undertake the duties incumbent on him and the whole community before the Tent of Meeting,in serving the Dwel ing,	7 Essi assumeranno l’incarico suo e quello di tutta la comunità nei confronti della tenda del convegno, prestando servizio alla Dimora.
8 and they will be in charge of al the furnishings of the Tent of Meeting and undertake the dutiesincumbent on the Israelites in serving the Dwel ing.	8 E custodiranno tutti gli arredi della tenda del convegno e assumeranno l'incarico degli Israeliti, prestando servizio alla Dimora.
9 You wil present the Levites to Aaron and his sons as men dedicated; they wil be given to him by theIsraelites.	9 Assegnerai i leviti ad Aronne e ai suoi figli: saranno affidati completamente a lui da parte degli Israeliti.
10 'You will register Aaron and his sons, who wil carry out their priestly duty. But any unauthorisedperson who comes near must be put to death.'	10 Tu incaricherai Aronne e i suoi figli di esercitare il sacerdozio; il profano che vi si accosterà sarà messo a morte».
11 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:	11 Il Signore parlò a Mosè e disse:
12 'Look, I myself have chosen the Levites from the Israelites instead of all the first-born, those whoemerge first from the womb in Israel; the Levites therefore belong to me.	12 «Ecco, io ho scelto i leviti tra gli Israeliti al posto di ogni primogenito che nasce per primo dal seno materno tra gli Israeliti; i leviti saranno miei,
13 For every first-born belongs to me. On the day when I struck down al the first-born in Egypt, Iconsecrated al the first-born in Israel, human and animal, to be my own. They are mine, Yahweh's.'	13 perché ogni primogenito è mio. Quando io colpii tutti i primogeniti in terra d’Egitto, io consacrai a me in Israele ogni primogenito, sia dell’uomo sia del bestiame; essi mi apparterranno. Io sono il Signore».
14 Yahweh spoke to Moses in the desert of Sinai and said:	14 Il Signore parlò a Mosè nel deserto del Sinai e disse:
15 'You must take a census of Levi's descendants by families and clans; al the males of the age of onemonth and over wil be counted.'	15 «Censisci i figli di Levi, secondo i loro casati paterni, secondo le loro famiglie; censirai tutti i maschi da un mese in su».
16 At Yahweh's word Moses took a census of them, as Yahweh had ordered.	16 Mosè li censì secondo l’ordine del Signore, come gli era stato ordinato.
17 These were the names of Levi's sons: Gershon, Kohath and Merari.	17 Questi sono i figli di Levi secondo i loro nomi: Gherson, Keat e Merarì.
18 These were the names of Gershon's sons by their clans: Libni and Shimei;	18 Questi i nomi dei figli di Gherson, secondo le loro famiglie: Libnì e Simei.
19 Kohath's sons by their clans: Amram, Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel;	19 I figli di Keat secondo le loro famiglie: Amram, Isar, Ebron e Uzzièl.
20 Merari's sons by their clans: Mahli and Mushi. These were the clans of Levi, grouped by families.	20 I figli di Merarì secondo le loro famiglie: Maclì e Musì. Queste sono le famiglie dei leviti suddivisi secondo i loro casati paterni.
21 From Gershon were descended the Libnite and Shimeite clans; these were the Gershonite clans.	21 A Gherson appartengono la famiglia dei Libniti e la famiglia dei Simeiti. Queste sono le famiglie dei Ghersoniti.
22 Their ful number, counting the males of one month and over, came to seven thousand five hundred.	22 I loro censiti, contando tutti i maschi da un mese in su, erano settemilacinquecento.
23 The Gershonite clans pitched their camp behind the Dwelling, on the west side.	23 Le famiglie dei Ghersoniti avevano l’accampamento dietro la Dimora, a occidente.
24 The leader of the House of Gershon was Eliasaph son of Lael.	24 Il principe del casato paterno per i Ghersoniti era Eliasàf, figlio di Laèl.
25 As regards the Tent of Meeting, the Gershonites had charge of the Dwel ing, the Tent and itscovering, the screen for the entrance to the Tent of Meeting,	25 I figli di Gherson, nella tenda del convegno, avevano l’incarico della Dimora e della tenda, della sua copertura e della cortina all’ingresso della tenda del convegno,

27 From Kohath were descended the Amramite, Izharite, Hebronite and Uzzielite clans; these were theKohathite clans.	27 A Keat appartengono la famiglia degli Amramiti, la famiglia degli Isariti, la famiglia degli Ebroniti e la famiglia degli Uzzieliti. Queste sono le famiglie dei Keatiti,
28 Their ful number, counting the males of one month and over, came to eight thousand three hundred.They were in charge of the sanctuary.	28 contando tutti i maschi da un mese in su: ottomilaseicento. Essi avevano la custodia del santuario.
29 The Kohathite clans pitched their camp on the south side of the Dwel ing.	29 Le famiglie dei figli di Keat avevano l’accampamento al lato meridionale della Dimora.
30 The leader of the house of the Kohathite clans was Elizaphan son of Uzziel.	30 Il principe del casato paterno per i Keatiti era Elisafàn, figlio di Uzzièl.
31 They were in charge of the ark, the table, the lamp-stand, the altars, the sacred vessels used in theliturgy, and the curtain with al its fittings.	31 Avevano l’incarico dell’arca, della tavola, del candelabro, degli altari e degli arredi del santuario con i quali si svolge il servizio, della cortina e di tutto il suo impianto.
32 The chief of the Levite leaders was Eleazar, son of Aaron the priest. He supervised the peopleresponsible for the sanctuary.	32 Il principe dei prìncipi dei leviti era Eleàzaro, figlio del sacerdote Aronne; esercitava la sorveglianza su quelli che avevano l’incarico del santuario.
33 From Merari were descended the Mahlite and Mushite clans; these were the Merarite clans.	33 A Merarì appartengono la famiglia dei Macliti e la famiglia dei Musiti. Queste sono le famiglie di Merarì.
34 Their ful number, counting the males of one month and over, came to six thousand two hundred.	34 I loro censiti, contando tutti i maschi da un mese in su, erano seimiladuecento.
35 The leader of the House of the Merarite clans was Zuriel, son of Abihail. They pitched their camp onthe north side of the Dwel ing.	35 Il principe del casato paterno per le famiglie di Merarì era Surièl, figlio di Abicàil. Essi avevano l'accampamento al lato settentrionale della Dimora.
36 The Merarites were in charge of the framework of the Dwelling, with its crossbars, poles, sockets andal its accessories and fittings,	36 I figli di Merarì avevano l'incarico di custodire le assi della Dimora, le sue stanghe, le sue colonne e le loro basi, tutti i suoi arredi e tutto il suo impianto,

38 Final y, on the east side, in front of the Dwel ing, in front of the Tent of Meeting, towards the east, wasthe camp of Moses and Aaron and his sons, who had charge of the sanctuary on behalf of the Israelites. Anyunauthorised person coming near was to be put to death.	38 Davanti alla Dimora, a oriente, avevano l’accampamento Mosè, Aronne e i suoi figli; essi avevano la custodia del santuario a nome degli Israeliti. 39 The total number of male Levites of the age of one month and over, whom Moses counted by clansas Yahweh had ordered, came to twenty-two thousand.	39 Tutti i leviti di cui Mosè e Aronne fecero il censimento secondo le loro famiglie per ordine del Signore, tutti i maschi da un mese in su, erano ventiduemila.
40 Yahweh said to Moses: 'Take a census of al the first-born of the Israelites, al the males from the ageof one month and over; take a census of them by name.	40 Il Signore disse a Mosè: «Censisci tutti i primogeniti maschi tra gli Israeliti, da un mese in su, e conta i loro nomi.
41 You will then present the Levites to me, Yahweh, instead of Israel, and similarly the Levites' cattleinstead of the first-born cattle of the Israelites.'	41 Prenderai i leviti per me – io sono il Signore – invece di tutti i primogeniti degli Israeliti e il bestiame dei leviti invece dei primi parti del bestiame degli Israeliti».
42 As Yahweh ordered, Moses took a census of al the first-born of the Israelites.	42 Mosè censì, come il Signore gli aveva comandato, ogni primogenito tra gli Israeliti, secondo l’ordine che il Signore gli aveva dato.
43 The total count, by name, of the first-born from the age of one month and over came to twenty-twothousand two hundred and seventy-three.	43 Il totale dei primogeniti maschi che furono censiti, contando i nomi da un mese in su, fu di ventiduemiladuecentosettantatré.
44 Yahweh then spoke to Moses and said:	44 Il Signore parlò a Mosè e disse:
45 'Take the Levites instead of al the first-born of the Israelites, and the Levites' cattle instead of theircattle; the Levites will be mine, Yahweh's.	45 «Prendi i leviti al posto di tutti i primogeniti degli Israeliti e il bestiame dei leviti al posto del loro bestiame; i leviti saranno miei. Io sono il Signore.
46 For the ransom of the two hundred and seventy-three first-born of the Israelites in excess of thenumber of Levites,	46 Come riscatto dei duecentosettantatré eccedenti rispetto ai leviti tra i primogeniti degli Israeliti,
47 you wil take five shekels for each, by the sanctuary shekel, at twenty gerah to the shekel;	47 prenderai cinque sicli a testa; li prenderai conformi al siclo del santuario: venti ghera per un siclo.
48 you wil then give this money to Aaron and his sons as the ransom for the extra number.'	48 Darai il denaro ad Aronne e ai suoi figli come riscatto di quelli tra loro eccedenti».
49 Moses took the ransom money for the extra ones unransomed by the Levites;	49 Mosè prese il denaro del riscatto di quelli che oltrepassavano il numero dei primogeniti riscattati dai leviti.
50 he took the money for the first-born of the Israelites: one thousand three hundred and sixty-fiveshekels, by the sanctuary shekel;	50 Da questi primogeniti degli Israeliti prese in denaro milletrecentosessantacinque sicli, conformi al siclo del santuario.
51 and Moses then handed over their ransom money to Aaron and his sons, at Yahweh's bidding, asYahweh had ordered Moses.	51 Mosè diede il denaro del riscatto ad Aronne e ai suoi figli, secondo l’ordine del Signore, come aveva ordinato il Signore a Mosè.
