NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 There then came forward the daughters of Zelophehad son of Hepher, son of Gilead, son of Machir,son of Manasseh; he belonged to the clans of Manasseh son of Joseph. His daughters' names were Mahlah,Noah, Hoglah, Milcah and Tirzah.	1 Si avvicinarono le figlie di Zelofcad, figlio di Efer, figlio di Galaad, figlio di Machir, figlio di Manasse, delle famiglie di Manasse, figlio di Giuseppe, che si chiamavano: Macla, Noa, Ogla, Milca, Tirza.
2 They appeared before Moses, the priest Eleazar, the leaders and the whole community, at theentrance to the Tent of Meeting, and said,	2 Stettero davanti a Mosè, davanti al sacerdote Eleazaro, davanti ai capi e a tutta la comunità, all'ingresso della tenda del convegno e dissero:
3 'Our father died in the desert. He was not a member of the party who banded together againstYahweh, Korah's party; it was for his own sin that he died without sons.	3 "Nostro padre è morto nel deserto: egli non appartenne alla lega che si radunò contro il Signore nella comunità di Core, perché morì nel suo peccato e non ebbe figli.
4 Why should our father's name be lost to his clan? Since he had no son, give us some property likeour father's kinsmen.'	4 Perché sarebbe sottratto il nome di nostro padre dal mezzo della sua famiglia, per non aver figli? Dateci una proprietà in mezzo ai fratelli di nostro padre".
5 Moses took their case before Yahweh,	5 Mosè presentò la loro causa davanti al Signore.
6 and Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,	6 Il Signore disse a Mosè:
7 'Zelophehad's daughters are right in what they say. You will indeed give them a property to be theirheritage among their father's kinsmen; see that their father's heritage is passed on to them.	7 "Le figlie di Zelofcad hanno parlato bene: da' loro una proprietà in eredità in mezzo ai fratelli di loro padre e farai passare l'eredità di loro padre a loro.
8 Then speak to the Israelites and say, "If a man dies without sons, his heritage wil pass to hisdaughter.	8 E dirai così ai figli d'Israele: "Se morirà un uomo e non avrà figli, farete passare la sua eredità a sua figlia.
9 If he has no daughter, the heritage will go to his brothers.	9 Se non avrà figlia, darete la sua eredità ai suoi fratelli.
10 If he has no brothers, his heritage wil go to his father's brothers.	10 Se non avrà fratelli, darete la sua eredità ai fratelli di suo padre.
11 If his father has no brothers, his heritage wil go to the member of his clan who is most nearlyrelated; it wil become his property. This will be a legal rule for the Israelites, as Yahweh has ordered Moses." '	11 Se suo padre non avrà fratelli, darete la sua eredità a chi gli resta più vicino della sua famiglia e ne entrerà in possesso". Per i figli d'Israele sarà una norma di diritto, come il Signore ha ordinato a Mosè".
12 Yahweh said to Moses, 'Climb this mountain of the Abarim range, and look at the country which Ihave given to the Israelites.	12 Il Signore disse a Mosè: "Sali su questo monte degli Abarim per vedere la terra che ho dato ai figli d'Israele.
13 After you have seen it, you will be gathered to your people, as Aaron your brother was.	13 La vedrai e poi ti riunirai al tuo popolo anche tu, come si è riunito Aronne, tuo fratello,
14 For you both rebel ed in the desert of Zin when the community disputed with me and when I orderedyou to assert my holiness before their eyes by means of the water.' (These were the Waters of Meribah ofKadesh, in the desert of Zin.)	14 perché trasgrediste l'ordine datovi nel deserto di Zin, nella ribellione della comunità, quando dovevate santificarmi con l'acqua ai loro occhi". E' l'acqua di Meriba di Kades, del deserto di Zin.
15 Moses then said to Yahweh,	15 Mosè disse al Signore:
16 'May it please Yahweh, God of the spirits that give life to al living creatures, to appoint a leader forthis community,	16 "Il Signore, Dio degli spiriti di ogni carne, ponga a capo di questa comunità un uomo
17 to be at their head in all their undertakings, a man who wil lead them out and bring them in, so thatYahweh's community wil not be like sheep without a shepherd.'	17 che esca davanti a loro ed entri davanti a loro, li faccia uscire e li faccia entrare, in modo che la comunità del Signore non sia come un gregge che non ha pastore".
18 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Take Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom the spirit dwel s, and lay yourhand on him.	18 Il Signore disse a Mosè: "Prendi Giosuè, figlio di Nun, uomo che ha lo spirito, e imponi la tua mano su di lui.
19 Bring him before the priest Eleazar and the whole community and give him your orders in theirpresence,	19 Poi lo farai stare davanti al sacerdote Eleazaro e davanti a tutta la comunità e ai loro occhi gli darai gli ordini.
20 conferring some of your own authority on him, so that the whole community of Israelites wil obeyhim.	20 Gli comunicherai la tua dignità, perché lo ascolti tutta la comunità dei figli d'Israele.
21 He wil present himself to the priest Eleazar who wil consult Yahweh on his behalf by means of therite of the urim; at his command, they wil go out and, at his command, they will come in, he and all the Israeliteswith him, the whole community.'	21 Starà davanti al sacerdote Eleazaro, che consulterà per lui il giudizio degli urim davanti al Signore. Per ordine suo usciranno e per ordine suo entreranno, con lui, tutti i figli d'Israele e tutta la comunità".
22 Moses did as Yahweh had ordered. He took Joshua, brought him before the priest Eleazar and thewhole community,	22 Mosè fece come il Signore gli aveva ordinato: prese Giosuè e lo fece stare davanti al sacerdote Eleazaro e a tutta la comunità;
23 laid his hands on him and gave him his orders, as Yahweh had directed through Moses.	23 impose le sue mani su di lui e gli diede ordini, come il Signore aveva comandato per mezzo di Mosè.
