Hosea 2

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 But the Israelites wil become as numerous as the sands of the sea, which cannot be measured orcounted. In the very place where they were told, 'You are not my people,' they wil be told they are 'Children ofthe living God'.	1 Le nombre des enfants d'Israël sera comme le sable de la mer, qu'on ne peut ni mesurer ni compter; aulieu même où on leur disait: "Vous n'êtes pas mon peuple", on leur dira: "Fils du Dieu vivant."
2 The Judaeans and Israelites will be reunited and wil choose themselves a single head, and will spreadfar beyond their country, for great will be the Day of Jezreel!	2 Les enfants de Juda et les enfants d'Israël se réuniront, ils se donneront un chef unique et ilsdéborderont hors du pays; car il sera grand le jour de Yizréel.
3 Then call your brothers, 'My people', and your sisters, 'You have been pitied'.	3 Dites à vos frères: "Mon Peuple", et à vos soeurs: "Celle dont on a pitié."
4 To court, take your mother to court! For she is no longer my wife nor am I her husband. She must eitherremove her whoring ways from her face and her adulteries from between her breasts,	4 Intentez procès à votre mère, intentez-lui procès! Car elle n'est pas ma femme, et moi je ne suis pas sonmari. Qu'elle écarte de sa face ses prostitutions, et d'entre ses seins ses adultères.
5 or I shal strip her and expose her naked as the day she was born; I shall make her as bare as thedesert, I shall make her as dry as arid country, and let her die of thirst.	5 Sinon je la déshabillerai toute nue et la mettrai comme au jour de sa naissance; je la rendrai pareille audésert, je la réduirai en terre aride, je la ferai mourir de soif,
6 And I shal feel no pity for her children since they are the children of her whorings.	6 et de ses enfants je n'aurai pas pitié, car ce sont des enfants de prostitution.
7 Yes, their mother has played the whore, she who conceived them has disgraced herself by saying, 'Ishall chase after my lovers; they will assure me my keep, my wool, my flax, my oil and my drinks.'	7 Oui, leur mère s'est prostituée, celle qui les conçut s'est déshonorée; car elle a dit: je veux courir aprèsmes amants, qui me donnent mon pain et mon eau, ma laine et mon lin, mon huile et ma boisson.
8 This is why I shal block her way with thorns, and wal her in to stop her in her tracks;	8 C'est pourquoi je vais obstruer son chemin avec des ronces, je l'entourerai d'une barrière pour qu'ellene trouve plus ses sentiers;
9 then if she chases her lovers she wil not catch them, if she looks for them she wil not find them, andthen she wil say, 'I shal go back to my first husband, I was better off then than I am now;'	9 elle poursuivra ses amants et ne les atteindra pas, elle les cherchera et ne les trouvera pas. Alors elledira: je veux retourner vers mon premier mari, car j'étais plus heureuse alors que maintenant.
10 she had never realised before that I was the one who was giving her the grain, new wine and oil,giving her more and more silver and gold which they have spent on Baal!	10 Elle n'a pas reconnu que c'est moi qui lui donnais le froment, le vin nouveau et l'huile fraîche, qui luiprodiguais cet argent et cet or qu'ils ont employés pour Baal!
11 This is why I shal take back my grain when it is due and my new wine, when the season for it comes. Ishall withdraw my wool and my flax which were to cover her naked body,	11 C'est pourquoi je reprendrai mon froment en son temps et mon vin nouveau en sa saison; je retireraima laine et mon lin qui devaient couvrir sa nudité.
12 and then display her infamy before her lovers' eyes- no one will take her from me then!	12 Puis je dévoilerai son infamie aux yeux de ses amants et personne ne la délivrera de ma main.
13 I shal put an end to al her merrymaking, her festivals, her New Moons and her Sabbaths and al hersolemn feasts.	13 Je ferai cesser toutes ses réjouissances, ses fêtes, ses néoménies, ses sabbats et toutes ses solennités.
14 I shal make her vines and fig trees derelict of which she used to say, 'These are the pay my loversgave me.' I shal turn them into a jungle: wild animals wil feed on them.	14 Je dévasterai sa vigne et son figuier, dont elle disait: Ils sont le salaire que m'ont donné mes amants;j'en ferai un hallier et la bête sauvage les dévorera.
15 I mean to make her pay for the feast-days on which she burnt incense to the Baals, when she trickedherself out in her earrings and necklaces to chase after her lovers, and forget me! -declares Yahweh.	15 Je la châtierai pour les jours des Baals auxquels elle brûlait de l'encens, quand elle se parait de sonanneau et de son collier et qu'elle courait après ses amants; et moi, elle m'oubliait! - Oracle de Yahvé.
16 But look, I am going to seduce her and lead her into the desert and speak to her heart.	16 C'est pourquoi je vais la séduire, je la conduirai au désert et je parlerai à son coeur.
17 There I shall give her back her vineyards, and make the Vale of Achor a gateway of hope. There shewil respond as when she was young, as on the day when she came up from Egypt.	17 Là, je lui rendrai ses vignobles, et je ferai du val d'Akor une porte d'espérance. Là, elle répondracomme aux jours de sa jeunesse, comme au jour où elle montait du pays d'Egypte.
18 When that day comes- declares Yahweh- you wil cal me, 'My husband', no more wil you cal me, 'MyBaal'.	18 Il adviendra en ce jour-là - oracle de Yahvé - que tu m'appelleras "Mon mari", et tu ne m'appellerasplus "Mon Baal."
19 I shal banish the names of the Baals from her lips and their name wil be mentioned no more.	19 J'écarterai de sa bouche les noms des Baals, et ils ne seront plus mentionnés par leur nom.
20 When that day comes I shal make a treaty for them with the wild animals, with the birds of heavenand the creeping things of the earth; I shal break the bow and the sword and warfare, and banish them from thecountry, and I wil let them sleep secure.	20 Je conclurai pour eux une alliance, en ce jour-là, avec les bêtes des champs, avec les oiseaux du cielet les reptiles du sol; l'arc, l'épée, la guerre, je les briserai et les bannirai du pays, et eux, je les ferai reposer ensécurité.
21 I shal betroth you to myself for ever, I shall betroth you in uprightness and justice, and faithful loveand tenderness.	21 Je te fiancerai à moi pour toujours; je te fiancerai dans la justice et dans le droit, dans la tendresse etla miséricorde;
22 Yes, I shall betroth you to myself in loyalty and in the knowledge of Yahweh.	22 je te fiancerai à moi dans la fidélité, et tu connaîtras Yahvé.
23 When that day comes, I shal respond -declares Yahweh- I shal respond to the heavens and they willrespond to the earth	23 Il adviendra, en ce jour-là, que je répondrai - oracle de Yahvé - je répondrai aux cieux et euxrépondront à la terre;
24 and the earth wil respond to the grain, the new wine and oil, and they wil respond to Jezreel.	24 la terre répondra au froment, au vin nouveau et à l'huile fraîche, et eux répondront à Yizréel.
25 I shal sow her in the country to be mine, I shall take pity on Lo-Ruhamah, I shal tell Lo-Ammi, 'Youare my people,' and he will say, 'You are my God.'	25 Je la sèmerai dans le pays, j'aurai pitié de Lo-Ruhamah, je dirai à Lo-Ammi: "Tu es mon peuple" etlui dira: "Mon Dieu!"
