Daniel 10

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia, a revelation was made to Daniel known as Belteshazzar, atrue revelation of a great conflict. He grasped the meaning of the revelation; what it meant was disclosed to himin a vision.	1 L'anno terzo di Ciro, re di Persia, una parola fu rivelata a Daniele, soprannominato Baltassar, una parola vera, di grande valore, ed egli comprese la cosa, che c'è bisogno d'intelligenza in (questa) visione,
2 At that time, I, Daniel, was doing a three-week penance;	2 in quei giorni io, Daniele, feci lutto per tre settimane intere:
3 I ate no agreeable food, touched no meat or wine, and did not anoint myself, until these three weekswere over.	3 non mangiai cibi prelibati, e la carne e il vino non entrò nella mia bocca, e nemmeno mi unsi coll'unguento, finché non furono passati i giorni delle tre settimane.
4 On the twenty-fourth day of the first month, as I stood on the bank of that great river, the Tigris,	4 E il ventiquattro del primo mese, trovandomi in riva al gran fiume, il Tigri,
5 I raised my eyes to look about me, and this is what I saw: A man dressed in linen, with a belt of puregold round his waist:	5 alzai i miei occhi e vidi, ed ecco un uomo vestito di lino, con attorno ai fianchi una cintura d'oro fino.
6 his body was like beryl, his face looked like lightning, his eyes were like fiery torches, his arms and hisface had the gleam of burnished bronze, the sound of his voice was like the roar of a multitude.	6 Il suo corpo era come il crisolito, la sua faccia aveva l'aspetto del folgore, e i suoi occhi (erano) come (due) faci ardenti, e le sue braccia e le altre parti fino ai piedi avevan l'aspetto di bronzo incandescente, e, quando parlava, la sua voce era come il rumore d'una moltitudine.
7 I, Daniel, alone saw the apparition; the men who were with me did not see the vision, but so great atrembling overtook them that they fled to hide.	7 La visione la vidi soltanto io, Daniele, quelli che erano con me non videro, ma un grande spavento piombò sopra di loro, e fuggirono a nascondersi.
8 I was left alone, gazing on this great vision; I was powerless, my appearance was changed andcontorted; my strength deserted me.	8 Ed io, rimasto solo, vidi questa grande visione, e mi mancaron le forze, la mia faccia cangiò colore, e svenni, privo di tutte le forze.
9 I heard a voice speaking, and at the sound of the voice I fel fainting, face downwards on the ground.	9 E sentivo il suono delle sue parole, e, a sentirle, stavo costernato, bocconi, colla faccia attaccata alla terra.
10 I felt a hand touching me, setting my knees and my hands trembling.	10 Ed ecco una mano mi toccò, e mi fece alzar e sulle mie ginocchia e sopra le dita delle mie mani.
11 He said, 'Daniel, you are a man specially chosen; understand the words that I am about to say; standup; I have been sent to you now.' He said this, and I stood up trembling.	11 Ed egli mi disse: « Daniele, uomo dei desideri, intendi le parole che io ti dico, e sta sui tuoi piedi, perchè ora sono mandato a te ». Quando mi ebbe dette queste parole, io mi alzai tutto tremante.
12 He then said, 'Daniel, do not be afraid: from that first day when, the better to understand, youresolved to mortify yourself before God, your words have been heard; and your words are the reason why I havecome.	12 Ed egli mi disse: « Non temere, Daniele, perchè fin dal primo giorno in cui applicasti il tuo cuore a comprendere e ad affliggerti nel cospetto del tuo Dio, sono state esaudite le tue parole, ed io sono venuto a causa delle tue parole.
13 The Prince of the kingdom of Persia has been resisting me for twenty-one days, but Michael, one ofthe Chief Princes, came to my assistance. I have left him confronting the kings of Persia	13 Ma il principe del regno dei Persiani mi ha fatto resistenza per ventun giorno, ma ecco che Michele, un dei primi principi, è venuto in mio aiuto, e son rimasto là presso il re dei Persiani.
14 and have come to tel you what will happen to your people in the final days. For here is a new visionabout those days.'	14 Però ora son venuto per farti sapere le cose che avverranno al tuo popolo negli ultimi giorni, e che la visione è per quei giorni ».
15 When he had said these things to me, I prostrated myself on the ground, without saying a word;	15 Mentre così mi parlava, io abbassai a terra il mio volto e tacqui.
16 then someone looking like a man touched my lips. I opened my mouth to speak, and I said to theperson standing in front of me, 'My lord, anguish overcomes me at this vision, and my strength deserts me.	16 Ed ecco uno che era simile al figlio dell'uomo toccò le mie labbra, ed io aprii la mia bocca e parlai e dissi a chi mi stava davanti: « O mio Signore, al vederti si sono sciolte tutte le mie giunture, e non m'è restato niente di forza.
17 How can your servant speak to my lord now that I have no strength left and my breath fails me?'	17 E come potrà il servo del mio Signore, parlare col mio Signore? Non m'è rimasto vigore alcuno, e mi manca anche il respiro ».
18 Once again, the person like a man touched me; he gave me strength.	18 Allora colui che aveva le sembianze di uomo mi toccò di nuovo e mi diede la forza.
19 'Do not be afraid,' he said, 'you are a man special y chosen; peace be with you; play the man, bestrong!' And as he spoke to me I felt strong again and said, 'Let my lord speak, you have given me strength.'	19 E disse: «Non temere, o uomo dei desideri. La pace sia con te. Fatti coraggio e sii forte ». Mentre egli parlava con me, io ripresi le forze, e dissi: « Parla, o mio Signore, perchè tu m'hai rinvigorito ».
20 He then said, 'Do you know why I have come to you?	20 E disse: « Sai perchè son venuto da te? Ora tornerò a combattere col principe dei Persiani, o quando partivo era già comparso il principe dei Greci, che veniva.
21 It is to tel you what is written in the Book of Truth. I must go back to fight the Prince of Persia; when Ihave overcome him, the Prince of Javan wil come next.In al this, there is no one to lend me support exceptMichael your Prince,	21 Ma intanto io t'annunzierò quello che sta espresso nella scrittura di verità: e in tutte queste cose nessuno mi dà aiuto, se non Michele vostro principe ».
