Daniel 10

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia, a revelation was made to Daniel known as Belteshazzar, atrue revelation of a great conflict. He grasped the meaning of the revelation; what it meant was disclosed to himin a vision.	1 El año tercero de Ciro, rey de Persia, una palabra fue revelada a Daniel, que había recibido el nombre de Beltsasar. Esta palabra es verdadera y se refiere a un gran combate. El prestó atención a la palabra y le fue dada la inteligencia en el transcurso de la visión.
2 At that time, I, Daniel, was doing a three-week penance;	2 En aquellos días, yo, Daniel, estuve de duelo tres semanas enteras:
3 I ate no agreeable food, touched no meat or wine, and did not anoint myself, until these three weekswere over.	3 no comí ningún manjar exquisito; ni la carne ni el vino entraron en mi boca, ni me hice ninguna unción, hasta que se cumplieron tres semanas enteras.
4 On the twenty-fourth day of the first month, as I stood on the bank of that great river, the Tigris,	4 Y el día veinticuatro del primer mes, yo estaba a orillas del Gran Río, es decir, el Tigris.
5 I raised my eyes to look about me, and this is what I saw: A man dressed in linen, with a belt of puregold round his waist:	5 Alcé mis ojos y vi a un hombre vestido de lino y ceñido con un cinturón de oro fino de Ufaz.
6 his body was like beryl, his face looked like lightning, his eyes were like fiery torches, his arms and hisface had the gleam of burnished bronze, the sound of his voice was like the roar of a multitude.	6 Su cuerpo brillaba como el crisólito, su rostro tenía el aspecto del relámpago, sus ojos eran como antorchas de fuego, sus brazos y sus piernas como el fulgor del bronce bruñido, y el sonido de sus palabras como el estruendo de una multitud.
7 I, Daniel, alone saw the apparition; the men who were with me did not see the vision, but so great atrembling overtook them that they fled to hide.	7 Sólo yo, Daniel, veía la aparición; los hombres que estaban conmigo no la vieron, sino que los invadió un gran temor y huyeron a esconderse.
8 I was left alone, gazing on this great vision; I was powerless, my appearance was changed andcontorted; my strength deserted me.	8 Así quedé yo solo contemplando esta gran aparición, y me sentí desfallecer; mi semblante se demudó hasta desfigurarse, y no pude sobreponerme.
9 I heard a voice speaking, and at the sound of the voice I fel fainting, face downwards on the ground.	9 Yo oí el sonido de sus palabras y, al oírlo, caí en trance con el rostro en tierra.
10 I felt a hand touching me, setting my knees and my hands trembling.	10 De pronto, una mano me tocó y me hizo poner, temblando, sobre mis rodillas y sobre las palmas de mis manos.
11 He said, 'Daniel, you are a man specially chosen; understand the words that I am about to say; standup; I have been sent to you now.' He said this, and I stood up trembling.	11 Luego me dijo: «Daniel, hombre predilecto, fíjate en las palabras que voy a decirte, y ponte de pie en el lugar donde estás, porque ahora yo he sido enviado a ti». Y mientras me decía estas palabras, yo me puse de pie, temblando.
12 He then said, 'Daniel, do not be afraid: from that first day when, the better to understand, youresolved to mortify yourself before God, your words have been heard; and your words are the reason why I havecome.	12 El me dijo: «No temas, Daniel, porque desde el primer día en que te empeñaste en comprender y en humillarte delante de tu Dios, fueron oídas tus palabras, y yo he venido a causa de ellas.
13 The Prince of the kingdom of Persia has been resisting me for twenty-one days, but Michael, one ofthe Chief Princes, came to my assistance. I have left him confronting the kings of Persia	13 El Príncipe del reino de Persia me opuso resistencia durante veintiún días, pero Miguel, uno de los primeros Príncipes, ha venido en mi ayuda. 15 When he had said these things to me, I prostrated myself on the ground, without saying a word;	15 Mientras él me dirigía estas palabras, volví mi rostro hacia el suelo y me quedé mudo.
16 then someone looking like a man touched my lips. I opened my mouth to speak, and I said to theperson standing in front of me, 'My lord, anguish overcomes me at this vision, and my strength deserts me.	16 De pronto, una figura como la de un hijo de hombre tocó mis labios. Yo abrí mi boca y me puse a hablar, y dije al que estaba de pie frente a mí: «Mi Señor, ante esta aparición, yo me estremecí de dolor y no pude sobreponerme.
17 How can your servant speak to my lord now that I have no strength left and my breath fails me?'	17 ¿Y cómo podría este servidor hablar con mi Señor, aquí presente, si ahora me faltan las fuerzas y ya me he quedado sin aliento?».
18 Once again, the person like a man touched me; he gave me strength.	18 Aquel que parecía un hombre me volvió a tocar y me fortaleció.
19 'Do not be afraid,' he said, 'you are a man special y chosen; peace be with you; play the man, bestrong!' And as he spoke to me I felt strong again and said, 'Let my lord speak, you have given me strength.'	19 Luego me dijo: «No temas, hombre predilecto. ¡La paz esté contigo! ¡Sé fuerte y valeroso!». Mientras él me hablaba, recobré las fuerzas y le dije: Que hable mi Señor, ya que me has fortalecido».
20 He then said, 'Do you know why I have come to you?	20 El respondió: «¿Sabes por qué he venido hasta ti? Ahora vuelvo a combatir contra el Príncipe de Persia, y una vez que haya concluido, vendrá el Príncipe de Javán.
21 It is to tel you what is written in the Book of Truth. I must go back to fight the Prince of Persia; when Ihave overcome him, the Prince of Javan wil come next.In al this, there is no one to lend me support exceptMichael your Prince,	21 Pero yo te voy a indicar lo que está consignado en el Libro de la Verdad.
