Daniel 10

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia, a revelation was made to Daniel known as Belteshazzar, atrue revelation of a great conflict. He grasped the meaning of the revelation; what it meant was disclosed to himin a vision.	1 L'anno terzo di Ciro, re della Persia, una parola fu rivelata a Daniele, che era stato soprannominato Baltazzàr: parola veritiera e grandiosa lotta. Egli cercò di comprendere la parola e l'intelligenza gli fu concessa in una visione.
2 At that time, I, Daniel, was doing a three-week penance;	2 In quei giorni, io Daniele feci lutto per tre settimane intere.
3 I ate no agreeable food, touched no meat or wine, and did not anoint myself, until these three weekswere over.	3 Non mangiai nessun cibo delizioso, carne e vino non entrarono nella mia bocca né feci uso di unzioni, finché non furono passate tre settimane.
4 On the twenty-fourth day of the first month, as I stood on the bank of that great river, the Tigris,	4 Il ventiquattresimo giorno del primo mese io ero sulla riva del grande fiume, il Tigri.
5 I raised my eyes to look about me, and this is what I saw: A man dressed in linen, with a belt of puregold round his waist:	5 Alzai gli occhi e guardai: Ecco un uomo, vestito d'indumenti di lino; i suoi fianchi erano cinti di oro di Ufàz.
6 his body was like beryl, his face looked like lightning, his eyes were like fiery torches, his arms and hisface had the gleam of burnished bronze, the sound of his voice was like the roar of a multitude.	6 Il suo corpo era come topazio, il suo volto splendente come la folgore, i suoi occhi come lampade accese, le sue braccia e le sue gambe come uno scintillìo di bronzo lucente, e la voce delle sue parole come la voce di una moltitudine.
7 I, Daniel, alone saw the apparition; the men who were with me did not see the vision, but so great atrembling overtook them that they fled to hide.	7 Soltanto io Daniele vidi la visione; gli uomini che erano con me non videro la visione, ma un grande spavento si impossessò di loro e fuggirono a nascondersi.
8 I was left alone, gazing on this great vision; I was powerless, my appearance was changed andcontorted; my strength deserted me.	8 Io Daniele rimasi solo; davanti a quella grandiosa visione non restò in me nessuna forza, il mio aspetto cambiò come fossi distrutto; non ebbi più forza.
9 I heard a voice speaking, and at the sound of the voice I fel fainting, face downwards on the ground.	9 Udivo la voce delle sue parole e, udendo la voce delle sue parole, come stordito caddi bocconi con la faccia per terra.
10 I felt a hand touching me, setting my knees and my hands trembling.	10 Ma ecco una mano mi toccò e mi fece alzare tremando sulle ginocchia e sulle palme delle mani.
11 He said, 'Daniel, you are a man specially chosen; understand the words that I am about to say; standup; I have been sent to you now.' He said this, and I stood up trembling.	11 Poi mi disse: "Daniele, uomo prediletto, comprendi le parole che ti dico! A'lzati in piedi, perché ora sono stato inviato a te!". E mentre parlava con me, io mi alzai in piedi tremando.
12 He then said, 'Daniel, do not be afraid: from that first day when, the better to understand, youresolved to mortify yourself before God, your words have been heard; and your words are the reason why I havecome.	12 Soggiunse: "Non temere, Daniele, perché dal primo giorno che tu ti sei sforzato di comprendere e di umiliarti davanti al tuo Dio, le tue parole sono state ascoltate. Io sono venuto in risposta alle tue parole,
13 The Prince of the kingdom of Persia has been resisting me for twenty-one days, but Michael, one ofthe Chief Princes, came to my assistance. I have left him confronting the kings of Persia	13 ma il principe del regno di Persia mi ha ostacolato per ventun giorni. Però, ecco che Michele, uno dei primi prìncipi, è venuto ad aiutarmi; io l'ho lasciato là di fronte al principe del regno di Persia
14 and have come to tel you what will happen to your people in the final days. For here is a new visionabout those days.'	14 e sono venuto per farti capire ciò che accadrà al tuo popolo nei giorni avvenire, perché è ancora una visione relativa ai giorni".
15 When he had said these things to me, I prostrated myself on the ground, without saying a word;	15 Mentre mi diceva queste cose io mi buttai con la faccia per terra, incapace di parlare.
16 then someone looking like a man touched my lips. I opened my mouth to speak, and I said to theperson standing in front of me, 'My lord, anguish overcomes me at this vision, and my strength deserts me.	16 Ed ecco qualcosa come una mano di figlio d'uomo toccò le mie labbra. Allora aprii la bocca, parlai e dissi a colui che mi stava davanti: "Mio Signore, davanti alla visione le doglie mi hanno assalito, ogni forza mi ha lasciato.
17 How can your servant speak to my lord now that I have no strength left and my breath fails me?'	17 E come potrebbe un servo del mio Signore come me parlare col mio Signore, se fin d'ora mi ha abbandonato la forza, sono rimasto senza respiro?".
18 Once again, the person like a man touched me; he gave me strength.	18 Allora l'essere misterioso, simile a un uomo, mi toccò di nuovo
19 'Do not be afraid,' he said, 'you are a man special y chosen; peace be with you; play the man, bestrong!' And as he spoke to me I felt strong again and said, 'Let my lord speak, you have given me strength.'	19 e mi disse: "Non temere, uomo prediletto! Pace a te! Sii forte e coraggioso!". Mentre costui parlava io mi sentii tornare le forze e dissi: "Parli pure il mio Signore, perché mi hai dato coraggio!".
20 He then said, 'Do you know why I have come to you?	20 Mi domandò: "Sai perché sono venuto da te? Ora io riparto per combattere contro il principe di Persia. Io parto, ma ecco, viene il principe di Grecia.
21 It is to tel you what is written in the Book of Truth. I must go back to fight the Prince of Persia; when Ihave overcome him, the Prince of Javan wil come next.In al this, there is no one to lend me support exceptMichael your Prince,	21 Tuttavia io ti indicherò ciò che è scritto nel libro della verità.
