Ezekiel 40

NEW JERUSALEM	NOVA VULGATA
1 In the twenty-fifth year of our captivity, at the beginning of the year, on the tenth day of the month,fourteen years to the day from the capture of the city, the hand of Yahweh was on me. He carried me away:	1 In vicesimo et quinto anno transmigrationis nostrae, in exordio anni,decima mensis, quarto decimo anno, postquam percussa est civitas, in ipsa hacdie facta est super me manus Domini et adduxit me illuc.
2 in divine visions, he carried me away to the land of Israel and put me down on a very high mountain,on the south of which there seemed to be built a city.	2 In visionibus Deiadduxit me in terram Israel et posuit me super montem excelsum nimis, super quemerat quasi aedificium civitatis ad austrum.
3 He took me to it, and there I saw a man, whose appearance was like brass. He had a flax cord and ameasuring rod in his hand and was standing in the gateway.	3 Et introduxit me illuc; et eccevir, cuius erat species quasi species aeris, et funiculus lineus in manu eius,et calamus mensurae in manu eius, stabat autem in porta.
4 The man said to me, 'Son of man, look careful y, listen closely and pay attention to everything I showyou, since you have been brought here only for me to show it to you. Tel the House of Israel everything that yousee.'	4 Et locutus est ad meidem vir: “ Fili hominis, vide oculis tuis et auribus tuis audi et pone cortuum in omnia, quae ego ostendam tibi, quia ut ostendantur tibi, adductus eshuc; annuntia omnia, quae tu vides, domui Israel ”.
5 Now, the Temple was surrounded on all sides by an outer wall. The man was holding a measuring rodsix cubits long, each cubit a forearm and a handsbreadth. He measured the thickness of this construction -- onerod; and its height -- one rod.	5 Et ecce murus forinsecus in circuitu domus undique, et in manu viri calamusmensurae sex cubitorum, qui habebant cubitum et palmum; et mensus estlatitudinem aedificii calamo uno, altitudinem quoque calamo uno.
6 He went to the east gate, climbed the steps and measured its threshold: one rod deep.	6 Et venit ad portam, quae respiciebat viam orientalem, et ascendit per graduseius et mensus est limen portae calamo uno latitudinem
7 Each guardroom one rod by one rod; and the piers between the guardrooms five cubits thick, and thethreshold of the gate inwards from the porch of the gate: one rod.	7 et cubiculum uno calamoin longum et uno calamo in latum et inter cubicula quinque cubitos et limenportae iuxta vestibulum portae intrinsecus calamo uno.

9 He measured the porch of the gate: eight cubits; its piers: two cubits; the porch of the gate was at theinner end.	9 octo cubitorum et postem eius duobus cubitis; vestibulumautem portae erat intrinsecus.
10 There were three guardrooms on each side of the east gate, al three of the same size; the piersbetween them al of the same thickness each side.	10 Porro cubicula portae ad viam orientalem, triahinc et tria inde, mensura una trium et mensura una postium ex utraque parte.
11 He measured the width of the entrance: ten cubits; and the width al down the gateway: thirteencubits.	11 Et mensus est latitudinem ostii portae decem cubitorum et longitudinem portaetredecim cubitorum,
12 There was a rail in front of the guardrooms; each rail on either side was one cubit. And theguardrooms on either side were six cubits square.	12 et saeptum ante cubicula cubiti unius utrimque; cubiculaautem sex cubitorum erant hinc et inde.
13 He measured the width of the gate from the back wal of one guardroom to the back wall of the other;it was twenty-five cubits across, the openings being opposite each other.	13 Et mensus est portam a tecto cubiculiusque ad tectum eius a contra, latitudinem viginti et quinque cubitorum, ostiumcontra ostium,
14 He measured the porch: twenty cubits; the court surrounded the gate on al sides.	14 .
15 From the front of the entrance gate, to the far end of the porch of the inner gate: fifty cubits.	15 et a facie ingressus portae usque ad faciem vestibuliportae intrinsecus, quinquaginta cubitos.
16 Al round inside the gate there were trel ised windows in the guardrooms and in their piers; similarly,in the porch there were windows all round and palm trees on the piers.	16 Et erant fenestrae marginatae incubiculis et in postibus intra portam undique per circuitum; similiter autemerant et in vestibulo fenestrae per gyrum intrinsecus, et ante postes picturapalmarum.
17 He then took me to the outer court, which had rooms and a paved terrace going all the way round;there were thirty rooms on this terrace.	17 Et eduxit me ad atrium exterius, et ecce exedrae et pavimentum stratum lapidein atrio per circuitum, triginta exedrae in circuitu pavimenti;
18 This terrace, which came up to the sides of the gates and matched their depth, was the LowerTerrace. He measured the width of the court,	18 et pavimentumad latus portarum secundum longitudinem portarum; hoc erat pavimentum inferius.
19 from the front of the lower gate to the fac ade of the inner court, outside: a hundred cubits (on theeast and on the north).	19 Et mensus est latitudinem a facie portae inferioris usque ad frontem portaeinterioris extrinsecus, centum cubitos. Sic oriens. Et sic aquilo.
20 He measured the length and breadth of the north gate of the outer court.	20 Portam quoque, quae respiciebat viam aquilonis atrii exterioris, mensus est,tam in longitudine quam in latitudine;
21 It had three guardrooms on each side; its piers and porch were of the same size as those of the firstgate: fifty cubits long and twenty-five cubits wide.	21 et cubicula eius, tria hinc et triainde, et postes eius et vestibulum eius secundum mensuram portae prioris;quinquaginta cubitorum longitudo eius et latitudo viginti quinque cubitorum.
22 Its windows, its porch and its palm trees were of the same size as those of the east gate. There were seven steps up to it, and its porch was at the inner end.	22 Et fenestrae vestibuli eius et sculpturae palmarum secundum mensuram portae,quae respiciebat ad orientem; et septem graduum erat ascensus eius, etvestibulum intrinsecus.
23 In the inner court there was, opposite the north gate, a gate like the one opposite the east gate. Hemeasured the distance from one gate to the other: a hundred cubits.	23 Et porta atrii interioris contra portam aquilonissicut in porta orientali; et mensus est a porta usque ad portam centum cubitos.
24 He took me to the south side where there was a south gate; he measured its guardrooms, piers andporch; they were of the same size as the others.	24 Et duxit me ad viam australem, et ecce porta, quae respiciebat ad austrum; etmensus est postes eius et vestibulum eius iuxta mensuras superiores.
25 The gateway, as wel as its porch, had windows al round, like the windows of the others; it was fiftycubits long and twenty-five cubits wide,	25 Etfenestrae eius et vestibuli in circuitu sicut fenestrae ceterae; quinquagintacubitorum longitudo erat et latitudo viginti quinque cubitorum.
26 and it had seven steps up to it; its porch was at the inner end and had palm trees on its piers, one oneither side.	26 Et ingradibus septem ascendebatur ad eam, et vestibulum erat intrinsecus, et caelataepalmae erant, una hinc et altera inde, in postibus eius.
27 The inner court had a south gate; he measured the distance southwards from one gate to the other: ahundred cubits.	27 Et porta erat atriointeriori in via australi, et mensus est a porta usque ad portam in via australicentum cubitos.
28 He then took me into the inner court by the south gate; he measured the south gate which was of thesame size as the others.	28 Et introduxit me in atrium interius per portam australem et mensus est portamiuxta mensuras superiores;
29 Its guardrooms, piers and porch were of the same size as the others.	29 cubicula eius et postes eius, et vestibulum eiuseisdem mensuris; et fenestrae erant ei et vestibulo eius in circuitu.Quinquaginta cubitorum longitudo erat et latitudo viginti quinque cubitorum.
30 The gateway, as wel as its porch, had windows al round; it was fifty cubits long and twenty-fivecubits wide.	30 .
31 The porch gave on to the outer court. It had palm trees on its piers and eight steps leading up to it.	31 Et vestibulum eius respiciebat ad atrium exterius, et palmae in postibuseius, et octo gradus erant, quibus ascendebatur ad eam.
32 He took me to the eastern part of the inner court and measured the gate. It was of the same size asthe others.	32 Et introduxit me in atrium interius per viam orientalem et mensus est portamsecundum mensuras superiores;
33 Its guardrooms, piers and porch were of the same size as the others. The gateway, as well as itsporch, had windows al round; it was fifty cubits long and twenty-five cubits wide.	33 cubicula eius et postes eius et vestibulum eiussicut supra; et fenestrae erant ei et vestibulo eius in circuitu. Longitudo eratquinquaginta cubitorum et latitudo viginti quinque cubitorum.
34 Its porch gave on to the outer court. There were palm trees on its piers on either side and eight stepsleading up to it.	34 Et vestibulumeius respiciebat ad atrium exterius, et palmae caelatae in postibus eius hinc etinde et in octo gradibus ascensus eius.
35 He then took me to the north gate and measured it.	35 Et introduxit me ad portam, quaerespiciebat ad aquilonem, et mensus est secundum mensuras superiores
36 Its guardrooms, piers and porch were of the same size as the others. The gateway had windows alround; it was fifty cubits long and twenty-five cubits wide.	36 cubiculaeius et postes eius et vestibulum eius; et fenestrae ei erant per circuitum.Longitudo quinquaginta cubitorum erat et latitudo viginti quinque cubitorum.
37 Its porch gave on to the outer court. There were palm trees on its piers on either side and eight stepsleading up to it.	37 Et vestibulum eius respiciebat ad atrium exterius, et caelatura palmarum inpostibus illius hinc et inde et in octo gradibus ascensus eius.
38 There was a room, the entrance to which was in the porch of the gateway, where they washed theburnt offerings.	38 Et erat exedra, cuius ostium in vestibulo portae; ibi lavabunt holocaustum.
39 And inside the porch of the gateway were slabs, two on either side, for slaughtering the burntofferings, the sacrifice for sin and the sacrifice of reparation.	39 Et in vestibulo portae duae mensae hinc et duae mensae inde, ut mactetursuper eas holocaustum et pro peccato et pro delicto.
40 Outside, at the approach to the entrance of the north gate, were two slabs, and on the other side, atthe porch end of the gate were two slabs.	40 Et ad latus extravestibulum ad ostium portae, quae respicit ad aquilonem, duae mensae; et ad latus alterum vestibuli portae duae mensae.
41 There were four slabs on one side and four slabs on the other side of the gateway, eight slabs in all,on which the slaughtering was done.	41 Quattuor mensae hinc et quattuormensae inde ad latus portae: octo mensae erant, super quas mactabunt.
42 There were also four slabs of dressed stone for the burnt offerings, a cubit and a half long, a cubitand a half wide and a cubit high, on which the instruments for slaughtering the burnt offerings and sacrifice wereplaced;
43 runnels a handsbreadth wide went al round the top, and on these slabs was put the sacrificial flesh.
44 Then he took me into the inner court; there were two rooms in the inner court, one on the side of thenorth gate, facing south, the other on the side of the south gate, facing north.	44 Et extra portam interiorem exedrae duae, in atriointeriori; una erat in latere portae respicientis ad aquilonem, et facies eiuscontra viam australem, et una ex latere portae australis, quae respiciebat adviam aquilonis.
45 He told me, 'The room looking south is for the priests responsible for the service of the Temple,	45 Et dixit ad me: “ Haec est exedra, quae respicit viammeridianam; sacerdotum erit, qui excubant in custodiis templi.
46 and the room looking north is for the priests responsible for the service of the altar. These are thesons of Zadok, those of the sons of Levi who approach Yahweh to serve him.'	46 Porro exedra,quae respicit ad viam aquilonis, sacerdotum erit, qui excubant ad ministeriumaltaris: isti sunt filii Sadoc, qui accedunt de filiis Levi ad Dominum, utministrent ei ”.
47 He measured the court; it was a hundred cubits long and a hundred cubits wide, a square with thealtar standing in front of the Temple.	47 Et mensus est atrium longitudine centum cubitorum et latitudine centumcubitorum per quadrum. Altare autem erat ante faciem templi.
48 He took me to the Ulam of the Temple and measured the piers of the Ulam: five cubits either side;and the width of the entrance was three cubits either side.	48 Et introduxit mein vestibulum templi; et mensus est postes vestibuli quinque cubitis hinc etquinque cubitis inde et latitudinem portae quattuordecim cubitorum et lateraportae trium cubitorum hinc et trium cubitorum inde;
49 The length of the Ulam was twenty cubits and its width twelve cubits. There were ten steps leadingup to it, and there were columns by the piers, one on either side.	49 longitudinem autemvestibuli viginti cubitorum et latitudinem duodecim cubitorum, et decem gradibusascendebatur ad illud, et columnae erant in postibus, una hinc et altera inde.
