1 In the seventh year, on the tenth day of the fifth month, some of the elders of Israel came to consultYahweh and were sitting with me,	1 Nel settimo anno, nel quinto mese, ai dieci del mese, vennero alcuni degli anziani d'Israele per consultare il Signore e si posero a sedere davanti a me.
2 when the word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows,	2 E la parola del Signore mi fu indirizzata in questi termini:
3 'Son of man, speak to the elders of Israel. Say, "The Lord Yahweh says this: Have you come toconsult me? As I live, I wil not be consulted by you -- declares the Lord Yahweh."	3 « Figlio dell'uomo, parla agli anziani d'Israele e di' loro: Così parla il Signore Dio: E' per consultarmi che siete venuti? Io vivo: non vi risponderò — dice il Signore.
4 'Are you ready to judge them? Are you ready to judge them, son of man? Confront them with theloathsome practices of their ancestors.	4 Se tu li giudichi, o figlio dell'uomo, se tu li giudichi, mostra loro le abominazioni dei loro padri.
5 Say, "The Lord Yahweh says this: On the day when I chose Israel, when I pledged my word to theHouse of Jacob, I made myself known to them in Egypt; I pledged my word to them and said: I am Yahweh yourGod.	5 E di' loro: Così parla il Signore Dio: Nel giorno in cui elessi Israele e alzai la mia mano in favore della stirpe della casa di Giacobbe, e apparvi ad essi nella terra d'Egitto, e alzai la mia mano in loro favore, dicendo: Io sono il Signore Dio vostro;
6 That day I pledged them my word that I would bring them out of Egypt to a country which I hadreconnoitred for them, a country flowing with milk and honey, and the loveliest of them al .	6 in quel dì io alzai la mano in loro favore, per trarli dalla terra d'Egitto in una terra da me ad essi preparata che scorre latte e miele e che è la più eccellente delle terre.
7 And I said to them: Each of you must reject the horrors which attract you; do not pol ute yourselveswith the foul idols of Egypt; I am Yahweh your God.	7 E io dissi loro: Ognuno di voi getti via ciò che scandalizza i suoi occhi, e non vi contaminate cogli idoli d'Egitto: io sono il Signore Dio vostro.
8 But they rebel ed against me and would not listen to me. Not one of them rejected the horrors whichattracted them; they did not give up the foul idols of Egypt. I then resolved to vent my fury on them, to sate myanger on them in Egypt.	8 Ma essi mi irritarono, non vollero darmi ascolto, e nessuno di essi gettò via le abominazioni dei suoi occhi, nè abbandonò gli idoli d'Egitto; e io decisi di effondere sopra di essi il mio sdegno, di sfogare contro di essi tutta la mia collera in mezzo alla terra d'Egitto.
9 But respect for my own name kept me from letting it be profaned in the eyes of the nations amongwhom they were living, and before whom I had made myself known to them and promised to bring them out ofEgypt.	9 Ma agii per amor del mio nome, perchè non fosse profanato davanti alle nazioni tra le quali si trovavano e in mezzo alle quali io apparvi ad essi, e così li trassi dalla terra d'Egitto.
10 So I brought them out of Egypt and led them into the desert.	10 Li feci dunque uscire dalla terra d'Egitto e li condussi nel deserto,
11 I gave them my laws and taught them my judgements, in whose observance people find life.	11 e diedi loro i miei precetti, i miei ordini, per i quali, mettendoli in pratica, l'uomo avrà vita.
12 And I also gave them my Sabbaths as a sign between me and them, so that they might know that I,Yahweh, am the one who sanctifies them.	12 Di più diedi ad essi i miei sabati, perchè fossero un segno fra me e loro, e conoscessero che io sono il Signore che li santifico.
13 The House of Israel, however, rebel ed against me in the desert; they refused to keep my laws, theyscorned my judgements, in whose observance people find life, and they grossly profaned my Sabbaths. I thenresolved to vent my fury on them in the desert and destroy them.	13 Ma la casa d'Israele m'irritò nel deserto, non seguì le mie leggi, rigettò i miei ordini, per i quali chi li osserva ha vita, profanò in modo incredibile i miei sabati. Per questo io decisi di effondere il mio sdegno sopra di loro nel deserto e di sterminarli.
14 But respect for my own name kept me from letting it be profaned in the eyes of the nations, beforewhom I had brought them out.	14 Ma agii per amor del mio nome, perchè non fosse profanato davanti alle nazioni dalle quali e alla presenza delle quali io li trassi via.
15 Even so, I pledged them my word in the desert that I would not lead them to the country which I hadgiven them, a country flowing with milk and honey, and the loveliest of them al ,	15 Io dunque alzai la mia mano sopra di loro nel deserto, (giurando) di non farli entrare nella terra loro data, che scorre latte e miele e che è la più eccellente delle terre,
16 since they had scorned my judgements, had refused to keep my laws and had profaned mySabbaths, their hearts being attached to foul idols.	16 perché avevan rigettati i miei ordini, non avevano osservati i miei comandamenti, avevano profanati i miei sabati, andando il loro cuore dietro agli idoli.
17 In spite of this, I took pity on them; I refrained from destroying them and did not make an end of themin the desert.	17 Ma il mio occhio s'impietosì sopra di essi, e così non li feci morire, non li sterminai nel deserto.
18 "I said to their children in the desert: Do not follow the laws of your ancestors, do not practise theirjudgements, do not defile yourselves with their foul idols.	18 Però nella solitudine dissi ai loro figlioli: Non andate dietro agli insegnamenti dei vostri padri, non ne seguite la condotta, non vi contaminate coi loro idoli:
19 I am Yahweh your God. Keep my laws, respect my judgements and practise them.	19 io sono il Signore Dio vostro: agite secondo i miei precetti, osservate i miei ordini e metteteli in pratica,
20 Keep my Sabbaths holy; let them be a sign between me and you, so that people may know that I amYahweh your God.	20 e santificato i miei sabati, in modo che siano un segno tra me e voi, e riconosciate che io sono il Signore Dio vostro.
21 Their children, however, rebel ed against me; they refused to keep my laws, they did not respect orpractise my judgements, which must be practised by al who want to live; they profaned my Sabbaths. I thenresolved to vent my fury on them, to sate my anger on them in the desert.	21 Ma i loro figlioli mi esacerbarono, non agirono secondo i miei precetti, non osservarono, non misero in pratica i miei ordini, pei quali chi li osserva avrà vita, e profanarono i miei sabati; e minacciai di effondere il mio furore sopra di essi e di sfogare tutta la mia collera contro di loro nel deserto.
22 But I restrained my hand; respect for my own name kept me from letting it be profaned in the eyes ofthe nations, before whom I had brought them out.	22 Ma rattenni la mia mano, e lo feci per amor del mio nome, perchè non fosse profanato davanti alle nazioni di mezzo alle quali e alla presenza delle quali li trassi via.
23 Once again, however, I pledged them my word that I would scatter them throughout the nations anddisperse them in foreign countries,	23 Di nuovo alzai la mano contro di essi nel deserto (giurando) di sperderli fra le nazioni è di gettarli al vento per le terre;
24 because they had not fol owed my judgements but had rejected my laws and profaned my Sabbaths,their eyes being fastened on the foul idols of their ancestors.	24 perchè non avevano fatto secondo i miei ordini, avevan rigettati i miei precetti, avevan profanati i miei sabati ed avevan rivolti i loro occhi dietro gli idoli dei loro padri.
25 And for this reason I gave them laws that were not good and judgements by which they could neverlive;	25 E allora anch'io diedi loro dei comandamenti non buoni, degli ordini pei quali non avran vita.
26 and I pol uted them with their own offerings, making them sacrifice every first-born son in order to filthem with revulsion, so that they would know that I am Yahweh."	26 E li resi immondi nelle loro oblazioni, quando pei loro delitti offrivan i primogeniti; e sapranno che io sono il Signore.
27 'For this reason, son of man, speak to the House of Israel. Say to them, "The Lord Yahweh says this:Here is another way by which your ancestors outraged me by their infidelity.	27 Per questo, parla alla casa d'Israele, o figlio dell'uomo, e di' loro: « Così parla il Signore Dio: Anche in questo mi hanno oltraggiato i vostri padri, dopo avermi disprezzato e schernito,
28 Once I had brought them into the country which I had pledged my word to give them, they then sawal sorts of high hil s, al kinds of leafy trees, and there they performed their sacrifices and made offerings thatprovoked my anger; there they set out their pleasing smel and poured their libations.	28 infatti, dopo che io li ebbi fatti entrare nella terra sopra la quale avevo alzata la mano, (giurando) di darla ad essi, adocchiato ogni colle alto, ogni albero frondoso, vi andarono ad immolare le loro vittime, ivi offrirono le loro oblazioni irritanti, ivi posero i soavi odori, e fecero le loro libazioni.
29 I then said to them: What is this high place where you go? And they gave, and stil give it, the nameof Bamah."	29 Ed io dissi loro: Che è mai l'alto luogo al quale andate? E si chiama alto luogo fino al giorno d'oggi.
30 'So, say to the House of Israel, "The Lord Yahweh says this: If you are pol uting yourselves as yourancestors did by fornicating with their horrors-	30 Per questo di' alla casa d'Israele: Così parla il Signore Dio: Senza dubbio, voi vi contaminate battendo la via dei vostri padri, e fornicate dietro ai loro scandali,
31 for by offering your gifts and by burning your children as sacrifices, you have been pol utingyourselves with al your foul idols to this very day -- shal I let myself be consulted by you, House of Israel? As Ilive -- declares Lord Yahweh -- I shal not let myself be consulted by you.	31 e nell'offrire i vostri doni, nel far passar pel fuoco i vostri figli, vi siete contaminati fino ad oggi con tutti i vostri idoli, ed io dovrò rispondervi, o casa d'Israele? Io vivo — dice il Signore Dio: — non vi darò risposta.
32 And what you sometimes imagine wil never be so, when you say: We shal be like the peoples, thetribes of foreign lands, worshipping wood and stone.	32 E non avverrà come voi pensate nella vostra mente, dicendo: « Saremo come le nazioni, come i popoli della terra: adoreremo i legni e le pietre ».
33 As I live I swear it -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- I am the one who will reign over you, with a stronghand and outstretched arm, once my fury is sated.	33 Io vivo — dico il Signore Dio: — con mano forte e braccio steso e furore sparso regnerò sopra di voi,
34 With a strong hand and outstretched arm, once my fury is sated, I shall bring you back from thepeoples and gather you again from the countries throughout which you have been scattered.	34 e vi trarrò di mezzo ai popoli e vi radunerò dalle regioni nelle quali siete dispersi, e regnerò sopra di voi con mano forte, braccio steso e furore sparso.
35 I shal lead you into the desert of the nations and there I shal judge you face to face.	35 E vi condurrò al deserto dei popoli ed entrerò con voi in giudizio, faccia a faccia.
36 As I judged your ancestors in the desert of Egypt, so wil I judge you -- declares the Lord Yahweh.	36 Come contesi in giudizio contro i vostri padri nel deserto della terra d'Egitto, così entrerò in giudizio con voi — dice il Signore Dio —
37 I shal make you pass under the crook, bring you to respect the covenant	37 e vi sottometterò al mio scettro, e vi farò entrare nei vincoli dell'alleanza.
38 and rid you of the rebels who have revolted against me; I shall bring them out of the country wherethey are staying, but they will not enter the country of Israel, and you wil know that I am Yahweh.	38 E separerò da voi i trasgressori e gli empi, li farò uscire dalla terra ove dimorano: ossi non entreranno nella terra d'Israele, e voi saprete che io sono il Signore ».
39 House of Israel, Lord Yahweh says this: Go on, all of you, worship your foul idols, but later we shal see if you don't listen to me! Then you wil stop profaning my holy name with your offerings and your foul idols.	39 E a te, o casa d'Israele, così parla il Signore Dio: « Voi andate ciascuno dietro i vostri idoli e li servite; ma se nemmeno in questo mi darete ascolto e seguiterete a profanare il mio santo nome coi vostri doni e coi vostri idoli,
40 For on my holy mountain, on the high mountain of Israel -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- is where thewhole House of Israel, everyone in the country, wil worship me. There I shal accept and there expect yourpresents, your choicest offering and al your consecrated gifts.	40 sul mio santo monte, sull'alta montagna d'Israele — dice il Signore Dio — ivi mi servirà tutta la casa d'Israele, tutti, dico, nella terra in cui mi saran graditi, ivi io cercherò le vostre primizie, l'inizio delle vostre decime in tutto ciò che voi consacrate.
41 I shal welcome you like a pleasing smell when I bring you back from the peoples and gather youfrom the countries throughout which you have been scattered, and through you I shal display my holiness for althe nations to see;	41 Io vi gradirò come soave profumo, quando vi avrò tratti dalle nazioni e vi avrò radunati dalle terre in cui siete dispersi, e sarò santificato in voi agli occhi delle nazioni.
42 and you wil know that I am Yahweh, when I bring you back to the soil of Israel, to the country which Ipledged my word to give to your ancestors.	42 E voi saprete che io sono il Signore, quando vi avrò ricondotti nella terra d'Israele, nella terra per la quale alzai la mano (giurando) di darla ai vostri padri.
43 There you wil remember your past behaviour and al the actions by which you have defiledyourselves, and you wil loathe yourselves for al the wrongs which you have committed.	43 Là vi ricorderete della vostra condotta e di tutte le vostre scelleratezze colle quali vi siete contaminati, e dispiacerete a voi stessi negli occhi vostri a causa di tutte le malvagità da voi commesse.
44 And you wil know that I am Yahweh, when I treat you as respect for my own name requires, and notas your wicked behaviour and corrupt actions deserve, House of Israel -- declares the Lord Yahweh." '	44 E conoscerete ch'io sono il Signore, quando vi farò del bene per amor del mio nome, non secondo la vostra cattiva condotta e le vostre pessime scelleratezze, o casa d'Israele, — dice il Signore Dio ».
	45 E il Signore mi parlò e mi disse:
	46 « Figlio dell'uomo, volgi la faccia dalla parte australe, e fa cadere le parole dalla parte del mezzogiorno, e profetizza contro il bosco della campagna del mezzodì.
	47 E dirai al bosco del mezzodì: Ascolta la parola del Signore: così parla il Signore Dio: Ecco che io accenderò in te il fuoco, e farò bruciare in te ogni pianta verde e ogni pianta secca, e la fiamma dell'incendio non sarà spenta, e in lei brucerà tutto ciò che apparisce dal mezzodì al settentrione.
	48 Ed ogni mortale vedrà che io, il Signore, le ho dato fuoco — e non sarà spenta ».
	49 E io dissi: « Ah, ah, ah! Signore Dio, essi dicono di me: Non parla forse in parabole costui? »
