Ezekiel 20

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 In the seventh year, on the tenth day of the fifth month, some of the elders of Israel came to consultYahweh and were sitting with me,	1 Nel settimo anno, il dieci del quinto mese, vennero alcuni anziani d'Israele per interpellare il Signore e mi si sedettero davanti.
2 when the word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows,	2 Mi giunse la parola del Signore:
3 'Son of man, speak to the elders of Israel. Say, "The Lord Yahweh says this: Have you come toconsult me? As I live, I wil not be consulted by you -- declares the Lord Yahweh."	3 "Figlio dell'uomo, parla agli anziani d'Israele e di' loro: Così dice Dio, mio Signore: Siete venuti a interpellarmi? Per la mia vita, non mi lascerò interpellare, oracolo di Dio, mio Signore.
4 'Are you ready to judge them? Are you ready to judge them, son of man? Confront them with theloathsome practices of their ancestors.	4 Li vuoi giudicare? Giudicali, figlio dell'uomo. Fa' loro conoscere le abominazioni dei loro padri
5 Say, "The Lord Yahweh says this: On the day when I chose Israel, when I pledged my word to theHouse of Jacob, I made myself known to them in Egypt; I pledged my word to them and said: I am Yahweh yourGod.	5 dicendo loro: Così dice il Signore Dio: Quando elessi Israele, alzai la mano in giuramento verso i discendenti della casa di Giacobbe e mi rivelai loro nel paese d'Egitto; alzai la mano giurando così: Io sono il Signore, il vostro Dio.
6 That day I pledged them my word that I would bring them out of Egypt to a country which I hadreconnoitred for them, a country flowing with milk and honey, and the loveliest of them al .	6 In quel giorno alzai la mano giurando loro di farli uscire dal paese d'Egitto alla volta di un paese che avevo esplorato per loro, terra in cui scorreva latte e miele, il più splendido tra tutti i paesi.
7 And I said to them: Each of you must reject the horrors which attract you; do not pol ute yourselveswith the foul idols of Egypt; I am Yahweh your God.	7 Dissi loro: Ciascuno rimuova gli idoli schifosi dai suoi occhi e non si macchi d'impurità con gli idoli d'Egitto: io sono il Signore, il vostro Dio.
8 But they rebel ed against me and would not listen to me. Not one of them rejected the horrors whichattracted them; they did not give up the foul idols of Egypt. I then resolved to vent my fury on them, to sate myanger on them in Egypt.	8 Invece mi si ribellarono e non vollero ascoltarmi, non rimossero gli idoli schifosi dai loro occhi, non abbandonarono gli idoli dell'Egitto e io decisi di riversare il mio furore su di essi, di accumulare su di loro la mia ira entro il paese d'Egitto.
9 But respect for my own name kept me from letting it be profaned in the eyes of the nations amongwhom they were living, and before whom I had made myself known to them and promised to bring them out ofEgypt.	9 Ma per amore del mio nome feci sì che non venisse profanato al cospetto delle genti in mezzo a cui si trovavano, poiché mi ero rivelato loro al cospetto di esse per farli uscire dal paese d'Egitto.
10 So I brought them out of Egypt and led them into the desert.	10 Sicché li feci uscire dal paese d'Egitto e li condussi nel deserto.
11 I gave them my laws and taught them my judgements, in whose observance people find life.	11 A loro diedi i miei decreti e rivelai le mie norme, osservando le quali l'uomo vivrà.
12 And I also gave them my Sabbaths as a sign between me and them, so that they might know that I,Yahweh, am the one who sanctifies them.	12 Diedi loro anche i miei sabati, perché siano un segno tra me e loro e si riconosca che io, il Signore, li santifico.
13 The House of Israel, however, rebel ed against me in the desert; they refused to keep my laws, theyscorned my judgements, in whose observance people find life, and they grossly profaned my Sabbaths. I thenresolved to vent my fury on them in the desert and destroy them.	13 Però la casa d'Israele mi si ribellò nel deserto: non seguirono i miei decreti, respinsero le mie norme, osservando le quali l'uomo vivrà, profanarono molto i miei sabati, e io decisi di riversare il mio furore su di loro nel deserto, per distruggerli completamente.
14 But respect for my own name kept me from letting it be profaned in the eyes of the nations, beforewhom I had brought them out.	14 Ma per amore del mio nome, feci sì che non venisse profanato davanti alle genti, al cui cospetto li avevo fatti uscire.
15 Even so, I pledged them my word in the desert that I would not lead them to the country which I hadgiven them, a country flowing with milk and honey, and the loveliest of them al ,	15 Alzai ancora la mano giurando loro nel deserto di non condurli nel paese che avevo loro destinato, in cui scorre latte e miele, il più splendido tra tutti i paesi,
16 since they had scorned my judgements, had refused to keep my laws and had profaned mySabbaths, their hearts being attached to foul idols.	16 poiché avevano respinto le mie norme e non avevano seguito i miei decreti, avevano profanato i miei sabati, insomma avevano seguito gli idoli del loro cuore.
17 In spite of this, I took pity on them; I refrained from destroying them and did not make an end of themin the desert.	17 Ma il mio occhio ebbe compassione di loro, della loro distruzione e non operai la loro estinzione totale nel deserto.
18 "I said to their children in the desert: Do not follow the laws of your ancestors, do not practise theirjudgements, do not defile yourselves with their foul idols.	18 Poi dissi ai loro figli nel deserto: non seguite le leggi dei vostri padri, non rispettate le loro norme e non macchiatevi d'impurità con i loro idoli.
19 I am Yahweh your God. Keep my laws, respect my judgements and practise them.	19 Io sono il Signore, il vostro Dio; seguite i miei decreti, rispettate le mie norme ed eseguitele.
20 Keep my Sabbaths holy; let them be a sign between me and you, so that people may know that I amYahweh your God.	20 Santificate i miei sabati e siano un segno tra me e voi, perché si conosca che io sono il Signore, vostro Dio.
21 Their children, however, rebel ed against me; they refused to keep my laws, they did not respect orpractise my judgements, which must be practised by al who want to live; they profaned my Sabbaths. I thenresolved to vent my fury on them, to sate my anger on them in the desert.	21 Invece mi si ribellarono anche i figli; non seguirono i miei decreti, non rispettarono né eseguirono le mie norme, osservando le quali l'uomo vivrà; profanarono i miei sabati e io decisi di riversare il mio furore su di essi, di accumulare su di essi la mia ira nel deserto.
22 But I restrained my hand; respect for my own name kept me from letting it be profaned in the eyes ofthe nations, before whom I had brought them out.	22 Ma ritirai il mio braccio e per amore del mio nome feci sì che non venisse profanato davanti alle genti al cui cospetto li avevo fatti uscire.
23 Once again, however, I pledged them my word that I would scatter them throughout the nations anddisperse them in foreign countries,	23 Alzai tuttavia la mia mano giurando loro nel deserto di disseminarli tra le genti e di disperderli nel mondo,
24 because they had not fol owed my judgements but had rejected my laws and profaned my Sabbaths,their eyes being fastened on the foul idols of their ancestors.	24 poiché non attuarono le mie norme, rifiutarono i miei decreti, profanarono i miei sabati ed ebbero gli occhi rivolti agli idoli dei loro padri.
25 And for this reason I gave them laws that were not good and judgements by which they could neverlive;	25 Io stesso poi diedi loro decreti non buoni e norme che non dànno la vita.
26 and I pol uted them with their own offerings, making them sacrifice every first-born son in order to filthem with revulsion, so that they would know that I am Yahweh."	26 Li feci macchiare d'impurità con le loro offerte di consacrazione di ogni primogenito, per gettarli nella costernazione, affinché riconoscessero che io sono il Signore.
27 'For this reason, son of man, speak to the House of Israel. Say to them, "The Lord Yahweh says this:Here is another way by which your ancestors outraged me by their infidelity.	27 Perciò parla alla casa d'Israele, figlio dell'uomo, e di' loro: Così dice il Signore Dio: Un'altra cosa ancora: i vostri padri mi hanno bestemmiato rivoltandosi contro di me.
28 Once I had brought them into the country which I had pledged my word to give them, they then sawal sorts of high hil s, al kinds of leafy trees, and there they performed their sacrifices and made offerings thatprovoked my anger; there they set out their pleasing smel and poured their libations.	28 E dire che io li avevo condotti nella terra che, alzando la mano, avevo giurato di dar loro! Ma essi videro tutti i colli elevati e gli alberi frondosi e vi fecero i loro sacrifici, vi portarono le loro nauseanti oblazioni, vi misero i loro profumi soavi e vi fecero le loro libazioni.
29 I then said to them: What is this high place where you go? And they gave, and stil give it, the nameof Bamah."	29 Io dissi loro: cos'è questo alto luogo che voi frequentate?
30 'So, say to the House of Israel, "The Lord Yahweh says this: If you are pol uting yourselves as yourancestors did by fornicating with their horrors-	30 Ebbene, di' alla casa d'Israele: Così dice Dio, il mio Signore: Voi vi macchiaste di impurità sull'esempio dei vostri padri e vi prostituiste con i loro idoli,
31 for by offering your gifts and by burning your children as sacrifices, you have been pol utingyourselves with al your foul idols to this very day -- shal I let myself be consulted by you, House of Israel? As Ilive -- declares Lord Yahweh -- I shal not let myself be consulted by you.	31 offrendo le vostre offerte, consacrando nel fuoco i vostri figli; vi macchiaste d'impurità con tutti i vostri idoli fino ad oggi e io mi devo lasciare interpellare da voi, casa d'Israele? Per la mia vita, oracolo di Dio, mio Signore, no, non mi lascio interpellare.
32 And what you sometimes imagine wil never be so, when you say: We shal be like the peoples, thetribes of foreign lands, worshipping wood and stone.	32 Eppure ciò che sale alla vostra mente non deve avvenire: e cioè ciò che dite: "Diverremo come le genti, come le altre tribù della terra, sì da venerare il legno e la pietra".
33 As I live I swear it -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- I am the one who will reign over you, with a stronghand and outstretched arm, once my fury is sated.	33 Per la mia vita, oracolo di Dio, mio Signore, sì, con mano ferma, con braccio teso e con furore scatenato, regnerò su di voi.
34 With a strong hand and outstretched arm, once my fury is sated, I shall bring you back from thepeoples and gather you again from the countries throughout which you have been scattered.	34 Vi farò uscire dai popoli, vi radunerò da tutto il mondo dove vi disseminai, con mano ferma, con braccio teso e furore scatenato.
35 I shal lead you into the desert of the nations and there I shal judge you face to face.	35 Vi condurrò nel deserto dei popoli, là istituirò il giudizio con voi, faccia a faccia.
36 As I judged your ancestors in the desert of Egypt, so wil I judge you -- declares the Lord Yahweh.	36 Come giudicai i vostri padri nel deserto del paese d'Egitto, così giudicherò voi, oracolo di Dio, mio Signore.
37 I shal make you pass under the crook, bring you to respect the covenant	37 Vi farò passare sotto il mio bastone e vi condurrò sotto gli impegni della mia alleanza
38 and rid you of the rebels who have revolted against me; I shall bring them out of the country wherethey are staying, but they will not enter the country of Israel, and you wil know that I am Yahweh.	38 e separerò quelli che mi sono ribelli e rivoltosi; li farò uscire dal paese dove sono forestieri, ma non arriveranno al paese d'Israele. Riconoscerete che io sono il Signore.
39 House of Israel, Lord Yahweh says this: Go on, all of you, worship your foul idols, but later we shal see if you don't listen to me! Then you wil stop profaning my holy name with your offerings and your foul idols.	39 A voi, casa d'Israele, così dice Dio, mio Signore: Rigettate ciascuno i vostri idoli e non profanate più il mio santo nome con le vostre offerte e i vostri idoli.
40 For on my holy mountain, on the high mountain of Israel -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- is where thewhole House of Israel, everyone in the country, wil worship me. There I shal accept and there expect yourpresents, your choicest offering and al your consecrated gifts.	40 Sì, sul mio monte santo, sull'alto monte d'Israele, oracolo di Dio, mio Signore, in quel paese mi serviranno tutti quelli della casa d'Israele. Là mi compiacerò di essi. Cercherò io i vostri tributi, le vostre offerte e tutte le vostre cose sacre.
41 I shal welcome you like a pleasing smell when I bring you back from the peoples and gather youfrom the countries throughout which you have been scattered, and through you I shal display my holiness for althe nations to see;	41 Come d'un profumo soave mi compiacerò di voi, di avervi fatto uscire di mezzo ai popoli, di avervi raccolto da tutte le parti del mondo dove foste disseminati e per voi sarò riconosciuto santo al cospetto delle genti.
42 and you wil know that I am Yahweh, when I bring you back to the soil of Israel, to the country which Ipledged my word to give to your ancestors.	42 Riconoscerete che io sono il Signore quando vi condurrò nel paese d'Israele, nel paese che giurai alzando la mano di dare ai vostri padri.
43 There you wil remember your past behaviour and al the actions by which you have defiledyourselves, and you wil loathe yourselves for al the wrongs which you have committed.	43 Là ricorderete la vostra condotta e tutte le azioni di cui vi siete macchiati e resterete col volto angosciato per tutto il male che avete fatto.
44 And you wil know that I am Yahweh, when I treat you as respect for my own name requires, and notas your wicked behaviour and corrupt actions deserve, House of Israel -- declares the Lord Yahweh." '	44 Riconoscerete che io, il Signore, per amore del mio nome vi trattai così e non secondo la vostra pessima condotta e le vostre azioni corrotte, o casa d'Israele. Oracolo di Dio, mio Signore".
