People cry for help, and there is wailing fromal the country's inhabitants	2 «Così dice il Signore: - Ecco delle ondate che salgono fuori dal settentrione, e diventeranno un torrente che straripa, e sommergeranno la terra in tutta la sua estensione, colle città, coi suoi abitanti: gli uomini grideranno, e urleranno tutti gli abitanti della terra,
3 at the thunder of his chargers' hoofs, the crash of his chariots, the grinding of his wheels. Yes, Yahweh is destroying the Philistines, the remnant from the Isle of Caphtor.	4 perchè è giunto il giorno in cui saran devastati tutti i Filistei, e sarà abbattuta Tiro e Sidone con tutto il resto dei loro ausiliari; perchè il Signore ha messo a soqquadro i Filistei, residuo dell'isola di Cappadocia.
5 Baldness has befallen Gaza, Ashkelon has been reduced to silence. You who remain in the val ey, howlong wil you gash yourselves?	5 È diventata la testa calva a Gaza, Ascalona ammutolita tace e gli ultimi residui delle loro vallate; e a che pro scarnificarti?
6 Oh, sword of Yahweh, how long before you rest? Back into your scabbard, stop, keep stil !	6 O brando del Signore, fin quando ancora non ti quieterai? Rientra nel fodero, calmati e taci.
7 Yet how can it rest when Yahweh has given it an order, Ashkelon and the sea coast, the targetsassigned to it?	7 E come si quieterà, se il Signore gli ha intimato di andare contro Ascalona e contro le sue marittime contrade ed è là che gli ha data la consegna?».
