NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 The word of Yahweh that came to Jeremiah about the Philistines before Pharaoh attacked Gaza.	1 Palabra del Señor, concerniente a los filisteos, que llegó al profeta Jeremías antes que el Faraón derrotara a Gaza.

People cry for help, and there is wailing fromal the country's inhabitants	2 Así habla el Señor: ¡Miren! Las aguas suben desde el Norte, se convierten en un torrente desbordado; inundan la tierra y lo que ella contiene, la ciudad y sus habitantes. Gritan los hombres, lanzan gemidos todos los habitantes del país.

Porque el Señor arrasa a los filisteos, al resto de la isla de Caftor.
5 Baldness has befallen Gaza, Ashkelon has been reduced to silence. You who remain in the val ey, howlong wil you gash yourselves?	5 Gaza se rapó la cabeza, Ascalón está perdida. Asdod, resto de los anaquitas, ¿Hasta cuándo te harás incisiones?
6 Oh, sword of Yahweh, how long before you rest? Back into your scabbard, stop, keep stil !	6 ¡Ah, espada del Señor! ¿Hasta cuándo no descansarás? ¡Vuelve a tu vaina, quédate tranquila y cálmate!
7 Yet how can it rest when Yahweh has given it an order, Ashkelon and the sea coast, the targetsassigned to it?	7 ¿Cómo puede descansar, cuando el Señor le da una orden? Hacia Ascalón y hacia la costa del mar, hacia allí le ha dado cita.
