1 The word of Yahweh that came to Jeremiah about the Philistines before Pharaoh attacked Gaza.	1 LA parola del Signore che fu indirizzata al profeta Geremia contro a’ Filistei, avanti che Faraone percotesse Gaza.
2 'Yahweh says this: Look, the waters are rising from the north to become an overwhelming flood,overwhelming the country and all in it, the town and its inhabitants! People cry for help, and there is wailing fromal the country's inhabitants	2 Così ha detto il Signore: Ecco, delle acque salgono di Settentrione, e sono come un torrente che trabocca, e inonderanno la terra, e tutto quello ch’è in essa, le città, e i loro abitanti; e gli uomini grideranno, e tutti gli abitatori del paese urleranno.
3 at the thunder of his chargers' hoofs, the crash of his chariots, the grinding of his wheels. Fathers forgetabout their children, their hands fal limp	3 Per lo strepito del calpestio delle unghie de’ destrieri di esso, per lo romore de’ suoi carri, per lo fracasso delle sue ruote, i padri non si son rivolti a’ figliuoli, per la fiacchezza delle lor mani;
4 because the day has come for all the Philistines to be destroyed, for Tyre and Sidon to be stripped tothe last of their al ies. Yes, Yahweh is destroying the Philistines, the remnant from the Isle of Caphtor.	4 per cagion del giorno che viene, per guastar tutti i Filistei, per isterminare a Tiro, e a Sidon, ogni rimanente di aiuto; perciocchè il Signore diserterà i Filistei, il rimanente dell’isola di Caftor.
5 Baldness has befallen Gaza, Ashkelon has been reduced to silence. You who remain in the val ey, howlong wil you gash yourselves?	5 Raditura di capo è avvenuta a Gaza, Ascalon è perita, col rimanente della lor valle. Infino a quando ti farai tu delle tagliature addosso?
6 Oh, sword of Yahweh, how long before you rest? Back into your scabbard, stop, keep stil !	6 Ahi spada del Signore! infino a quando non ti riposerai? ricogliti nel tuo fodero, riposati, e resta.
7 Yet how can it rest when Yahweh has given it an order, Ashkelon and the sea coast, the targetsassigned to it?	7 Come ti riposeresti? conciossiachè il Signore le abbia data commessione, e l’abbia assegnata là, contro ad Ascalon, e contro al lito del mare
