Jeremiah 44

1 The word that came to Jeremiah for al the Judaeans living in Egypt, those, that is, living in Migdol,Tahpanhes, Noph and the territory of Pathros.	1 Palavra chegada a Jeremias para todos os Judeus que habitavam na terra do Egito, aos que moravam em Migdol, em Tafnis, em Menfis e na terra de Faturés:
2 'Yahweh Sabaoth, God of Israel, says this, "You have seen al the disaster I have brought onJerusalem and all the towns of Judah; today they lie in ruins and uninhabited.	2 Assim fala o Senhor dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Vós vistes todos os males que fiz vir sobre Jerusalém e sobre todas as cidades de Judá: ei-las hoje desertas e despovoadas,
3 This was because of the wicked deeds they committed to provoke my anger, by going and offeringincense and serving other gods whom neither they, nor you, nor your ancestors knew anything about,	3 por causa da maldade que cometeram para provocar a minha indignação, indo sacrificar e prestar culto a deuses estranhos, que não conheciam, assim como nem vós, nem vossos pais.
4 although I urgently and untiringly sent you al my servants the prophets to say: You must not do thisloathsome thing, which I hate.	4 Com grande solicitude, enviei-vos todos os meus servos os profetas, enviei-os para vos dizer: Não cometais esta abominação, que detesto.
5 But they would not listen or pay attention, and turn from their wickedness and stop offering incense toother gods.	5 Mas não ouviram, não inclinaram o seu ouvido para se converterem das suas maldades e para não mais sacrificarem a deuses estranhos.
6 And so my furious anger overflowed, burning down the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem,which were reduced to ruins and wasteland, as they stil are today.	6 Então acendeu-se a minha indignação, o meu furor, e consumiu as cidades de Judá e as ruas de Jerusalém, que foram reduzidas a ruínas e a deserto, como hoje se está vendo.
7 And now, Yahweh, God Sabaoth, God of Israel, says this: Why bring complete disaster on yourselvesby cutting yourselves off from Judah -- your men, women, children and babes in arms -- so as to leaveyourselves no remnant,	7 E agora, isto diz o Senhor dos exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Por que cometeis vós tão grande mal contra vós mesmos, de forma que no meio de Judá pereçam homens e mulheres, crianças e meninos de peito, sem que fique resto algum de vós,
8 by provoking my wrath by your actions, offering incense to other gods in Egypt where you have cometo settle, as though bent on your own destruction and on becoming a curse and a laughing-stock for all thenations of the earth?	8 pela provocação que me fazeis com as obras de vossas mãos, sacrificando a deuses estranhos na terra do Egito, na qual entrastes para nela habitar? Por que causais assim o vosso extermínio e vos tornais objecto de maldição e de opróbrio de todas as nações da terra?
9 Have you forgotten the wicked deeds of your ancestors, of the kings of Judah and of your princes, yourown wicked deeds and those of your wives, committed in the country of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?	9 Porventura estais esquecidos das maldades de vossos pais, das maldades dos reis de Judá, das maldades das suas mulheres, das vossas próprias maldades e das maldades de vossas mulheres, cometidas na terra de Judá e nas ruas de Jerusalém?
10 To this day they have felt neither contrition nor fear; they have not observed my Law or my statutes,which I prescribed for you, as for your ancestors.	10 Não se arrependeram até hoje, não tiveram temor, nem andaram na minha lei nem nos mandamentos que vos dei a vós e a vossos pais.
11 So, Yahweh Sabaoth, God of Israel, says this: Look, I have determined on disaster and shal destroyJudah completely.	11 Portanto assim fala o Senhor dos exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Eis que voltarei o meu rosto para vós para vosso mal, para destruição de Judá.
12 I shal take the remnant of Judah who were determined to come to Egypt and settle there, and inEgypt they wil perish; they wil fal to the sword or perish of famine, from least to greatest; by sword and faminethey will die and be an object of execration and horror, a curse, a laughing-stock.	12 Tomarei os restos de Judá que se obstinaram em entrar na terra do Egito e habitar nela. Serão todos consumidos na terra do Egipto: cairão mortos à espada e de fome; serão consumidos, desde o mais pequeno até ao maior, à espada e à fome; ficarão sendo um objecto de execração, de horror, de maldição e de opróbrio.
13 I shal punish those who live in Egypt just as I punished Jerusalem: by sword, famine and plague.	13 Castigarei os (Judeus) que habitam na terra do Egito, como castiguei Jerusalém com a espada, a fome e a peste.
14 Of the remnant of Judah which has come to settle in Egypt, not a single one wil escape or survive toreturn to the country of Judah where they long to return and live. For none of them wil return, except a fewrefugees." '	14 Dos que restavam de Judá, que foram habitar na terra do Egito, não haverá quem escape, quem sobreviva e torne à terra de Judá, à qual eles tanto suspiram voltar para lá morarem. Não voltarão, senão alguns poucos fugitivos.
15 At this, all the men who knew that their wives offered incense to other gods, and al the women whowere standing there, a great crowd (and al the people living in Egypt, in Pathros), answered Jeremiah asfol ows,	15 Então todos os homens que sabiam que suas mulheres sacrificavam a deuses estranhos, e todas as mulheres, de que havia ali grande multidão, e todo o povo que morava na terra do Egito, em Faturés, responderam a Jeremias:
16 'We have no intention of listening to the word you have just spoken to us in Yahweh's name,	16 Não receberemos de ti a palavra que disseste em nome do Senhor.
17 but intend to go on doing al we have vowed to do: offering incense to the Queen of Heaven andpouring libations in her honour, as we used to do, we and our ancestors, our kings and our chief men, in thetowns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem: we had food in plenty then, we lived well, we suffered no disasters.	17 Antes cumpriremos todas as promessas que fizemos de sacrificar à Rainha do céu e de lhe oferecer libações, como fazíamos nós e nossos pais, nossos reis e nossos chefes, na cidades de Judá e nas ruas de Jerusalém. Então tínhamos fartura de pão, éramos felizes, não sabíamos o que era a desgraça.
18 But since we gave up offering incense to the Queen of Heaven and pouring libations in her honour,we have been destitute and have perished either by sword or by famine.	18 Porém, desde aquele tempo em que cessamos de sacrificar à Rainha do céu e de lhe oferecer libações, estamos necessitados de tudo e temos sido consumidos pela espada e pela fome.
19 Besides, when we offer incense to the Queen of Heaven and pour libations in her honour, do youthink we make cakes for her with her features on them, and pour libations to her, without our husbands'knowledge?'	19 Se sacrificávamos à Rainha do céu e lhe oferecíamos libações, porventura fazíamos-lhe nós as tortas para a honrar e oferecíamos-lhe as libações sem o consentimento dos nossos maridos?
20 To al the people, men and women, all those who had made this answer, Jeremiah retorted,	20 Então Jeremias falou a todo o povo, aos maridos, às mulheres, a todos os que lhe tinham dado esta resposta, dizendo:
21 'The incense you offered in the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem, you, your ancestors,your kings, your chief men and the people at large -- was this not what Yahweh kept remembering, and found sorepellent	21 Não se lembrou o Senhor dos (infames) sacrifícios que oferecestes nas cidades de Judá e nas ruas de Jerusalém, vós e vossos pais, vossos reis e vossos chefes e o povo da terra, não chegou isto ao seu coração?
22 that Yahweh could not endure your misdeeds and your loathsome practices any longer, with the resultthat your country has become the uninhabited ruin, the object of horror and cursing it is today?	22 Visto que o Senhor não podia já sofrer mais, por causa da malícia dos vossos atos e por causa das abominações que cometestes, a vossa terra se converteu num deserto, pavoroso e maldito, em que ninguém habita, como hoje se vê.
23 Because you offered incense, because you sinned against Yahweh, refusing to listen to the voice ofYahweh, or to observe his Law, his statutes and his decrees -- that is why the present disaster has overtakenyou.'	23 Porque sacrificastes aos ídolos, pecastes contra o Senhor, não ouvistes a voz do Senhor, não andastes na sua lei, nos seus mandamentos e instruções, por isso vos vieram estes males, como hoje se vê.
24 Further, Jeremiah said to al the people, and particularly to al the women, 'Listen to the word ofYahweh, al you Judaeans in Egypt,	24 Depois Jeremias disse a todo o povo e a todas as mulheres: Ouvi a palavra do Senhor, vós todos os de Judá, que estais na terra do Egito:
25 Yahweh Sabaoth, God of Israel, says this, "You and your wives, what your mouths promised, yourhands have indeed performed! You said: We shall punctiliously fulfil the vows we have made and offer incenseto the Queen of Heaven and pour libations in her honour. Very wel , keep your vows, perform them punctiliously!	25 Assim fala o Senhor dos exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Vós e vossas mulheres, o que dizeis (prometeis) com vossa boca, cumpris com vossas mãos. (Com efeito) dissestes: Cumpriremos os votos que fizemos de sacrificar à Rainha do céu e de lhe oferecer libações. Pois bem! Cumpri os vossos votos, ponde-os por obra.
26 But listen to the word of Yahweh, al you Judaeans living in Egypt: I swear by my great name, Yahwehsays, that my name wil no longer be uttered by any man of Judah throughout Egypt; no one wil say: As LordYahweh lives.	26 Porém ouvi a palavra do Senhor, vós todos os de Judá, que habitais na terra do Egito: Eis que juro pelo meu grande nome, diz o Senhor, que de nenhum modo será pronunciado mais o meu nome pela boca de nenhum homem judeu em toda a terra do Egito; nenhum dirá: Vive o Senhor Iavé!
27 No, I am going to keep my eye on them for disaster, not for prosperity, and al the Judaeans in Egyptwil perish either by the sword or by famine until they are wiped out.	27 Eis que vigiarei sobre eles, para seu mal, não para seu bem; todos os varões de Judá, que há na terra do Egito, perecerão à espada e à fome, até que de todo sejam consumidos.
28 Yet, though few in number, those who escape the sword wil return to the country of Judah fromEgypt. Then the entire remnant of Judah which has come and settled in Egypt wil know whose word comes true,mine or theirs.	28 Os que escaparem da espada, saindo da terra do Egito, voltarão à terra de Judá em pequeno número; todos os restos de Judá, que entraram na terra do Egito, para morarem nela, saberão qual é a palavra que será cumprida: se a minha, se a deles.
29 "And here is the sign for you, Yahweh declares, that I shal punish you in this place: so that you wilknow that the words with which I threaten you will come true:	29 E isto vos servirá de sinal, diz o Senhor, de que vos hei-de castigar neste lugar, para que saibas que verdadeiramente se cumprirão contra vós as minhas palavras para vosso mal.
30 Yahweh says this: Look, I shal hand Pharaoh Hophra, king of Egypt, over to his enemies and to thosedetermined to kil him, just as I handed Zedekiah king of Judah over to his enemy Nebuchadnezzar king ofBabylon, who was determined to kil him." '	30 Assim fala o Senhor: Vou entregar o Faraó Hofra, rei do Egito, nas mãos dos seus inimigos, nas mãos dos que querem tirar-lhe a vida, assim como entreguei Sedecias, rei de Judá, nas mãos de Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia, seu inimigo que procurava (também) tirar-lhe a vida.
