Jeremiah 39

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylonadvanced on Jerusalem with his entire army, and they laid siege to it.	1 Il nono anno di Sedecia re di Giuda, nel decimo mese, Nabucodonosor re di Babilonia venne con tutto il suo esercito a Gerusalemme e la fece assediare.
2 In the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, a breach was made in the city wall.	2 E l'anno undecimo di Sedecia, nel quarto mese, ai cinque del mese, la città fu presa.
3 The king of Babylon's officials, al having made their entry, took their seats in the Middle Gate: Nergal-Sharezer, Samgar-Nebo, Sar-Sechim a high dignitary of state, Nergal-Sharezer the chief astrologer, and al theking of Babylon's other officials . . .	3 E v'entrarono tutti i principi del re di Babilonia, e si stabilirono alla porta di mezzo: Neregel, Sereser, Semegarnabu, Sarsachim, Rabsares, Neregel, Sereser, Rebmag, e tutti gli altri principi del re di Babilonia.
4 On seeing them, Zedekiah king of Judah and al the fighting men fled, leaving the city under cover ofdark, by way of the king's garden through the gate between the two walls, and made their way towards theArabah.	4 Quando Sedecia re di Giuda e tutta la gente di guerra li ebbero veduti, fuggirono, e di notte tempo usciron dalla città per la strada del giardino del re, per la porta che era tra i due muri, e presero la via del deserto.
5 But the Chaldaean troops pursued them and caught up with Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho. Theycaptured him and took him to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon at Riblah in the territory of Hamath, where hepassed sentence on him.	5 Ma l'esercito dei Caldei tenne loro dietro, e raggiunse Sedecia nella deserta campagna di Gerico. 6 The king of Babylon had Zedekiah's sons slaughtered before his eyes at Riblah; the king of Babylonalso had al the leading men of Judah put to death.	6 In Reblata il re di Babilonia uccise i figli di Sedecia sotto gli occhi di lui, e fece morire tutti i nobili di Giuda, il re di Babilonia.
7 He then put out Zedekiah's eyes and, loading him with chains, carried him off to Babylon.	7 Fece poi cavar gli occhi a Sedecia, e lo mise in ceppi, per farlo condurre a Babilonia.
8 The Chaldaeans burnt down the royal palace and the private houses, and demolished the wal s ofJerusalem.	8 I Caldei diedero alle fiamme la casa del re e le case del popolo, ed abbatteron le mura di Gerusalemme.
9 Nebuzaradan commander of the guard deported the remainder of the population left behind in the city,the deserters who had gone over to him, and the rest of the artisans to Babylon.	9 Nabuzardan capo dei soldati trasportò a Babilonia il resto del popolo rimasto nella città, e i disertori che si eran rifugiati presso di lui, e gli avanzi del volgo che era rimasto.
10 But Nebuzaradan commander of the guard left some of the poor people behind in the country ofJudah, those who had nothing, at the same time giving them vineyards and fields.	10 Della turba dei poveri, di quelli che non avevan proprio niente, Nabuzardan capo dei soldati ne lasciò nella terra di Giuda, donando loro in quel giorno vigne e cisterne.
11 With regard to Jeremiah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had given the fol owing orders toNebuzaradan, commander of the guard,	11 Riguardo a Geremia, Nabucodonosor re di Babilonia aveva dato a Nabuzardan capo dei soldati quest'ordine:
12 'Take him, look after him; do him no harm, but treat him as he may ask you.'	12 « Prendilo, abbine cura, non gli fare alcun male, ma agisci riguardo a lui come egli desidera ».
13 He entrusted this mission to (Nebuzaradan commander of the guard,) Nebushazban the high dignitaryof state, Nergal-Sharezer the chief astrologer and al the king of Babylon's other officials.	13 Per questo, Nabuzardan capo dell'esercito, Nabusezban, Rabsares, Neregel, Sereser, Rebmag, e tutti i capi del re di Babilonia,
14 These despatched men to take Jeremiah from the Court of the Guard and turned him over toGedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan for safe conduct home. So he remained among the people.	14 mandarono a prendere Geremia dal vestibolo della prigione, e lo consegnarono a Godolia, figlio di Ahicain figlio di Safan, perchè lo facesse entrare in casa e abitare in mezzo al popolo.
15 While Jeremiah was confined in the Court of the Guard, the word of Yahweh came to him as follows,	15 Or a Geremia, mentre era chiuso nel vestibolo del carcere, era stata indirizzata la parola di Dio in questi termini:
16 'Go and say to Ebed-Melech the Cushite, "Yahweh, God of Israel says this: Look, I am about toperform my words about this city for its ruin and not for its prosperity. That day they will come true before youreyes.	16 « Va a dire all'etiope Abdemelec: Queste cose dice il Signore degli eserciti il Dio d'Israele: Ecco io adempirò le mie parole sopra questa città, in male e non in bene, e in quel giorno si avvereranno sotto i tuoi occhi.
17 But I shal rescue you that day, Yahweh declares, and you will not be handed over to the hands of themen you fear.	17 Ma in quel giorno io ti libererò — dice il Signore — e tu non sarai dato nelle mani di uomini di cui hai paura.
18 Yes, I shal certainly rescue you: you wil not fall to the sword; you wil escape with your life, becauseyou have put your trust in me, Yahweh declares."	18 In ogni maniera io ti libererò, e tu non perirai di spada, ma salverai la tua vita, perchè hai riposta la fiducia in me — dice il Signore ».
