Jeremiah 12

NEW JERUSALEM	DIODATI
1 Your uprightness is too great, Yahweh, for me to dispute with you. But I should like to discuss somepoints of justice with you: Why is it that the way of the wicked prospers? Why do al treacherous people thrive?	1 Signore, se io litigo teco, tu sei pur giusto; nondimeno io ti proporrò le mie ragioni: Perchè prospera la via degli empi? perchè sono a lor agio tutti quelli che procedono dislealmente?
2 You plant them, they take root, they flourish, yes, and bear fruit. You are on their lips, yet far from theirheart.	2 Tu li hai piantati, ed hanno messa radice; si avanzano, e fruttano; tu sei presso della lor bocca, ma lontano dalle lor reni.
3 You know me, Yahweh, you see me, you probe my heart, which is close to yours. Drag them off likesheep for the slaughterhouse, reserve them for the day of butchery.	3 Ma, o Signore, tu mi conosci, tu mi vedi, ed hai provato qual sia il mio cuore inverso te; strascinali, a guisa di pecore, al macello, e preparali per lo giorno dell’uccisione.
4 (How long will the land be in mourning, and the grass wither all over the countryside? The animals andbirds are dying as a result of the wickedness of the inhabitants.) For they say, 'God does not see our fate.'	4 Infino a quando farà cordoglio il paese, e seccherassi l’erba di tutta la campagna, per la malvagità degli abitanti di quello? le bestie, e gli uccelli son venuti meno; perciocchè hanno detto: Iddio non vede il nostro fine.
5 'If you find it exhausting to race against me on foot, how wil you compete against horses? In a countryat peace you feel secure, but how wil you fare in the thickets of the Jordan?	5 Se, correndo co’ pedoni, essi ti hanno stanco, come ti rimescolerai co’ cavalli? e se hai sol fidanza in terra di pace, come farai, quando il Giordano sarà gonfio?
6 'For even your brothers and your own family will betray you. They will pursue you in ful cry. Put no faithin them when they speak you fair!'	6 Perciocchè, eziandio i tuoi fratelli, e que’ della casa di tuo padre, si son portati dislealmente teco; ed essi ancora hanno a grida radunata la moltitudine dietro a te; non fidarti di loro, quando ti daranno buone parole
7 I have abandoned my house, left my heritage, I have delivered what I dearly loved into the clutches ofits enemies.	7 IO ho lasciata la mia Casa, io ho abbandonata la mia eredità; io ho dato l’amor dell’anima mia nelle mani de’ suoi nemici.
8 To me, my heritage has behaved like a lion in the forest, it roared at me ferociously: so I now hate it.	8 La mia eredità mi è stata come un leone nel bosco; ha data fuori la sua voce contro a me; perciò l’ho odiata.
9 I see my heritage as a brightly-coloured bird of prey attacked by birds of prey on every side! Go,assemble al the wild animals, make them come and dine!	9 La mia eredità mi è stata come un uccello vaiolato; o uccelli, venite contro a lei d’ogn’intorno; andate, radunatevi, voi tutte le fiere della campagna, venite per mangiare.
10 Many shepherds have laid my vineyard waste, have trampled over my plot of land, the plot of landwhich was my joy, reducing my favourite estate to a deserted wilderness.	10 Molti pastori han guasta la mia vigna, han calpestata la mia possessione, han ridotta la mia cara possessione in un deserto di desolazione.
11 They have made it a waste; wasted, it mourns before me. The whole country has been devastatedand no one takes it to heart.	11 È stata ridotta in desolazione; e, tutta desolata, ha fatto cordoglio appo me; tutta la terra è desolata, perciocchè non vi è alcuno che ponga mente a queste cose.
12 The devastators have arrived on all the bare heights of the desert (for Yahweh wields a devouringsword); from one end of the country to the other, there is no peace for any living thing.	12 De’ guastatori son venuti sopra tutti i luoghi elevati nel deserto; perciocchè la spada del Signore divorerà da una estremità del paese infino all’altra; non vi è pace alcuna per veruna carne.
13 Wheat they have sown, thorns they reap: they have worn themselves out, to no profit. They aredisappointed in their harvests, because of Yahweh's burning anger.	13 Han seminato del frumento, ed han ricolte delle spine; si sono affannati, e non hanno fatto alcun profitto; voi sarete confusi delle vostre rendite, per l’ardente ira del Signore
14 Yahweh says this, 'As regards al my evil neighbours who have laid hands on the heritage I grantedmy people Israel, look, I shal uproot them from their soil, (though I shall uproot the House of Judah from amongthem).	14 Così ha detto il Signore contro a tutti i suoi malvagi vicini, che toccano l’eredità, la quale egli ha data a possedere ad Israele, suo popolo: Ecco, io li divellerò d’in sul lor paese, e divellerò la casa di Giuda del mezzo di loro.
15 But having uprooted them, I shall take pity on them again and bring them back each to its ownheritage, each to its own country,	15 Ed avverrà che dopo che io li avrò divelti, avrò di nuovo pietà di loro; e li ricondurrò, ciascuno alla sua eredità, e ciascuno alla sua terra.
16 and if they carefully learn my people's ways and swear by my name, "As Yahweh lives", as they havetaught my people to swear by Baal, then they wil be re-established among my people.	16 Ed avverrà che, se pure imparano le vie del mio popolo per giurar per lo mio Nome, dicendo il Signore vive siccome hanno insegnato al mio popolo di giurare per Baal, saranno edificati in mezzo del mio popolo.
17 But if any nation refuses to listen, I shall uproot it for ever and destroy it, Yahweh declares.'	17 Ma se non ubbidiscono, io divellerò una cotal gente, divellendola, ed insieme distruggendola, dice il Signore
