Jeremiah 12

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA CEI 2008
1 Your uprightness is too great, Yahweh, for me to dispute with you. But I should like to discuss somepoints of justice with you: Why is it that the way of the wicked prospers? Why do al treacherous people thrive?	1 Tu sei troppo giusto, Signore, perché io possa contendere con te, ma vorrei solo rivolgerti una parola sulla giustizia. Perché la via degli empi prospera? Perché tutti i traditori sono tranquilli?
2 You plant them, they take root, they flourish, yes, and bear fruit. You are on their lips, yet far from theirheart.	2 Tu li hai piantati ed essi mettono radici, crescono e producono frutto; sei vicino alla loro bocca, ma lontano dal loro intimo.
3 You know me, Yahweh, you see me, you probe my heart, which is close to yours. Drag them off likesheep for the slaughterhouse, reserve them for the day of butchery.	3 Ma tu, Signore, mi conosci e mi vedi, tu provi che il mio cuore è con te. Strappali via come pecore per il macello, riservali per il giorno della strage.
4 (How long will the land be in mourning, and the grass wither all over the countryside? The animals andbirds are dying as a result of the wickedness of the inhabitants.) For they say, 'God does not see our fate.'	4 Fino a quando sarà in lutto la terra e seccherà tutta l’erba dei campi? Le bestie e gli uccelli periscono per la malvagità dei suoi abitanti che dicono: «Dio non vede la nostra fine».
5 'If you find it exhausting to race against me on foot, how wil you compete against horses? In a countryat peace you feel secure, but how wil you fare in the thickets of the Jordan?	5 «Se, correndo con i pedoni, ti stanchi, come potrai gareggiare con i cavalli? Se ti senti al sicuro solo in una regione pacifica, che cosa farai nella boscaglia del Giordano?
6 'For even your brothers and your own family will betray you. They will pursue you in ful cry. Put no faithin them when they speak you fair!'	6 Persino i tuoi fratelli e la casa di tuo padre, persino loro sono sleali con te; anch’essi ti gridano dietro a piena voce; non fidarti di loro quando ti dicono buone parole».
7 I have abandoned my house, left my heritage, I have delivered what I dearly loved into the clutches ofits enemies.	7 «Ho abbandonato la mia casa, ho ripudiato la mia eredità, ho consegnato ciò che ho di più caro nelle mani dei suoi nemici.
8 To me, my heritage has behaved like a lion in the forest, it roared at me ferociously: so I now hate it.	8 La mia eredità è divenuta per me come un leone nella foresta; ha levato la voce contro di me, perciò la detesto.
9 I see my heritage as a brightly-coloured bird of prey attacked by birds of prey on every side! Go,assemble al the wild animals, make them come and dine!	9 La mia eredità è forse per me come un uccello variopinto, assalito da ogni parte da uccelli rapaci? Venite, radunatevi, voi tutte bestie selvatiche, venite a divorare.
10 Many shepherds have laid my vineyard waste, have trampled over my plot of land, the plot of landwhich was my joy, reducing my favourite estate to a deserted wilderness.	10 Molti pastori hanno devastato la mia vigna, hanno calpestato il mio campo. Hanno fatto del mio campo prediletto un deserto desolato,
11 They have made it a waste; wasted, it mourns before me. The whole country has been devastatedand no one takes it to heart.	11 lo hanno ridotto a una landa deserta, in uno stato deplorevole; sta desolato dinanzi a me. È devastata tutta la terra e nessuno se ne dà pensiero».
12 The devastators have arrived on all the bare heights of the desert (for Yahweh wields a devouringsword); from one end of the country to the other, there is no peace for any living thing.	12 Su tutte le alture del deserto giungono devastatori, perché il Signore ha una spada che divora da un estremo all’altro della terra; non c’è scampo per nessuno.
13 Wheat they have sown, thorns they reap: they have worn themselves out, to no profit. They aredisappointed in their harvests, because of Yahweh's burning anger.	13 Hanno seminato grano e mietuto spine, si sono affaticati senza alcun profitto; restano confusi per il loro raccolto a causa dell’ira ardente del Signore.
14 Yahweh says this, 'As regards al my evil neighbours who have laid hands on the heritage I grantedmy people Israel, look, I shal uproot them from their soil, (though I shall uproot the House of Judah from amongthem).	14 Così dice il Signore: «Ecco, io sradico dalla loro terra tutti i miei vicini malvagi, che hanno messo le mani sull’eredità che ho dato al mio popolo Israele; e così sradicherò anche la casa di Giuda di mezzo a loro.
15 But having uprooted them, I shall take pity on them again and bring them back each to its ownheritage, each to its own country,	15 E, dopo averli sradicati, riprenderò ad avere compassione di loro e farò tornare ognuno al proprio possesso e alla propria terra.
16 and if they carefully learn my people's ways and swear by my name, "As Yahweh lives", as they havetaught my people to swear by Baal, then they wil be re-established among my people.	16 Se impareranno con cura le usanze del mio popolo, fino a giurare nel mio nome dicendo: “Per la vita del Signore!”, come hanno insegnato al mio popolo a giurare per Baal, allora potranno stabilirsi in mezzo al mio popolo.
17 But if any nation refuses to listen, I shall uproot it for ever and destroy it, Yahweh declares.'	17 Se invece non ascoltano, estirperò definitivamente quella nazione e la annienterò». Oracolo del Signore.
