Jeremiah 10

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 Listen, House of Israel, to the word that Yahweh addresses to you. Yahweh says this:	1 - Udite la parola che il Signore ha pronunziato sopra di voi, casa d'Israele.
2 'Do not learn the ways of the nations or take alarm at the heavenly signs, alarmed though the nationsmay be at them.	2 Così dice il Signore: «Alle pratiche dei gentili non vi lasciate ammaestrare, non abbiate timore dei segni del cielo che i gentili temono.
3 Yes, the customs of the peoples are quite futile: wood, nothing more, cut out of a forest, worked with ablade by a carver's hand,	3 Perchè i riti dei popoli sono vani; a un pezzo di legno, che è stato tagliato dal bosco per opera della mano d'un artefice coll'ascia,
4 then embellished with silver and gold, then fastened with hammer and nails to keep it from moving.	4 questi ha messo fregi d'oro e d'argento, coi chiodi e col martello l'ha rifermo perchè non si scompagini.
5 Like scarecrows in a melon patch, they cannot talk, they have to be carried, since they cannot walk.Have no fear of them: they can do no harm -- nor any good either!'	5 Sono foggiati a guisa d'una palma e non parlano; per trasportarli bisogna sorreggerli, perchè non possono camminare. Non vogliate dunque temere di cose tali che non possono fare del male, ma neppure del bene».
6 Yahweh, there is no one like you, so great you are, so great your mighty name.	6 Non c'è nessuno simile a te, Signore, tu sei grande, e grande è il tuo nome in potenza.
7 Who would not revere you, King of nations? Yes, this is your due. Since of all the wise among thenations, and in al their kingdoms, there is not a single one like you.	7 Chi non ti temerà, o re delle genti? perchè tua è la gloria, e tu sei degno di rispetto fra tutti i sapienti delle nazioni, e in tutti i loro regni nessuno è simile a te.
8 Al of them are brutish and stupid: the Futile Ones' teaching is but wood,	8 Tutti ugualmente daranno prova d'esser stolti e insensati: l'insegnamento delle lor futilità è un legno.
9 silver leaf imported from Tarshish and gold from Ophir, the work of carver or goldsmith; then dressed up in violet and purple, all the work of skil ed men.	9 Argento laminato da Tarsis gli è recato e oro di Ofaz, opera di artefice fatta dalla mano d'un argentiere; i loro paludamenti sono di scarlatto e di porpora, tutto lavoro di periti nell'arte.
10 But Yahweh is the true God. He is the living God, the everlasting King. The earth quakes when he iswrathful, the nations cannot endure his fury.	10 Ma il Signore è il Dio vero, egli il Dio vivo il re eterno: alla sua indignazione trema la terra e le genti non possono sostenere la sua minaccia.
11 'Tell them this, "The gods who did not make the heavens and the earth will vanish from the earth andfrom under these heavens." '	11 Voi dunque direte loro così: «Gli dèi che non hanno fatto il cielo e la terra periscano d'in sulla terra e al disotto del cielo».
12 By his power he made the earth, by his wisdom set the world firm, but his discernment spread out theheavens.	12 Egli è che colla sua potenza fa la terra, che dispone l'universo colla sua sapienza e colla sua intelligenza distende i cieli.
13 When he thunders there is a roaring of waters in heaven; he raises clouds from the remotest parts ofthe earth, makes the lightning flash for the downpour, and brings the wind from his storehouse.	13 Al risuonar della sua voce, scrosciano in copia acque dal cielo; fa salire le nubi dalle estremità della terra; forma i baleni, forieri di pioggia, e trae fuor de' suoi ricettacoli i vènti.
14 At this al people stand stupefied, uncomprehending, every goldsmith blushes for his idols; hiscastings are but delusion, with no breath in them.	14 Ogni uomo, dalla sua stessa scienza, stolto è dichiarato; ogni artefice in una statua ha la sua propria confusione; perchè ciò che ha fuso è una menzogna, spirito in essi non v'è.
15 They are futile, a laughable production; when the time comes for them to be punished, they wilvanish.	15 Sono esseri vani, contraffazioni ridicole; quando verrà la loro ora periranno.
16 The Heritage of Jacob is not like these, for he is the maker of everything, and Israel is the tribe that ishis heritage. His name is Yahweh Sabaoth.	16 Non è simile a questi il Dio, retaggio di Giacobbe, perchè egli è quello che ha formato tutte le cose e Israele è lo scettro della sua eredità, il suo nome è Signore degli eserciti.
17 Pick up your pack from the ground, you the besieged!	17 Raccatta da terra il fardello della tua confusione, o tu che assediata giaci,
18 For Yahweh says this, 'Now I shall throw out the inhabitants of the country, this time, and bringdistress on them, so that they may find me!'	18 perchè, così dice il Signore: «Ecco questa è la volta che io sbalestrerò lontano gli abitatori di questa terra e li vesserò tanto che ritrovino se stessi».
19 Disaster is on me! What a wound! My injury is incurable! And I used to think, 'If this is the worst, I canbear it!'	19 «Ahimè che strazio, che colpo atroce! Ma io debbo dirlo: il danno è tutto mio e lo sopporterò.
20 But now my tent is destroyed, al my ropes are snapped, my sons have left me and are no more; noone is left to put my tent up again or to hang the side-cloths.	20 Il mio padiglione è stato sfasciato, le mie corde spezzate; i miei figli sono usciti da me e non ci sono più, non v'è più nessuno che dispieghi il mio padiglione e rizzi le mie tende.
21 The shepherds are the ones who have been stupid: they have not searched for Yahweh. This is whythey have not prospered and why their whole flock has been dispersed.	21 Perchè i pastori hanno agito da stolti e non hanno ricercato il Signore; perciò non sono riusciti nei loro intenti e tutto il loro gregge è stato disperso.
22 Listen! A terrible noise! A mighty uproar from the land of the north to reduce the towns of Judah todesert, to a lair for jackals!	22 Una voce che si ripercuote ecco è giunta, un gran fragore dalla terra del settentrione per mettere le città di Giuda nella desolazione e farne un'abitazione di fiere».
23 I know, Yahweh, no one's course is in his control, nor is it in anyone's power, as he goes his way, toguide his own steps.	23 Io so, o Signore, che non è in balìa dell'uomo la sua strada, nè in suo arbitrio camminare e dirigere i suoi passi.
24 Correct me, Yahweh, but with moderation, not in your anger, or you wil reduce me to nothing.	24 Castigami, o Signore; ma con equanimità e non con tutto il tuo furore; affinchè tu non mi riduca al niente.
25 Pour out your anger on the nations who do not acknowledge you, and on the families that do not calon your name, for they have devoured Jacob, have devoured and made an end of him and reduced his home todesolation.	25 Riversa la tua indignazione sopra le genti che ti hanno misconosciuto, e sopra le province che non hanno invocato il tuo nome; perchè hanno dilaniato Giacobbe e se lo sono divorato, l'hanno consumato e hanno dissipata la sua magnificenza!
