Leviticus 26

1 ' "You wil not make idols for yourselves; you will not erect statues or cultic stones, or erect carvedstones in your country, for you to worship: for I, Yahweh, am your God.	1 Io il Signore Dio vostro: Non vi farete idoli, né statue, e non alzerete colonne, né pietre insigni nel vostro paese per adorarle. Perocché io sono il Signore Dio vostro.
2 You will keep my Sabbaths and revere my sanctuary. I am Yahweh.	2 Osservate i miei sabati, e state in timore dinanzi al mio santuario. Io il Signore.
3 "If you live according to my laws, if you keep my commandments and put them into practice,	3 Se camminerete ne' miei comandamenti, e osserverete le mie leggi, e le adempirete, io darovvi a’ suoi tempi le piogge,
4 I shal give you the rain you need at the right time; the soil wil yield its produce and the trees of thecountryside their fruit;	4 E la terra produrrà i suoi germi, e le piante si caricheranno di frutti.
5 you wil thresh until vintage time and gather grapes until sowing time. You wil eat your fill of bread andlive secure in your land.	5 La battitura delle messi incastrerà nella vendemmia, e nella vendemmia la sementa: e mangerete a sazietà il vostro pane; e abiterete senza timori nella vostra terra.
6 "I shall give peace in the land, and you wil go to sleep with no one to frighten you. I shal rid the land of beasts of prey. The sword wil not pass through your land.	6 Dentro i vostri confini manterrò la pace: dormirete, e non sarà chi vi disturbi. Discaccerò le bestie nocive, e la spada non entrerà ne' vostri confini.
7 You will pursue your enemies and they wil fal before your sword;	7 Voi darete dietro a’ vostri nemici, ed ei cadranno dinanzi a voi.
8 five of you pursuing a hundred of them, one hundred pursuing ten thousand; and your enemies wil falbefore your sword.	8 Cinque di voi daranno addosso a cento stranieri, e cento di voi a dieci mila: cadranno i nemici sotto le vostre spade davanti a voi.
9 "I shall turn towards you, I shal make you fertile and make your numbers grow, and I shal uphold mycovenant with you.	9 Getterò il mio sguardo sopra di voi: farovvi crescere; e moltiplicherete, e raffermerò con voi la mia alleanza.
10 "Having eaten al you need of last year's harvest, you will throw out the old to make room for the new.	10 Mangerete i prodotti già assai vecchi, e sopravvenendo abbondanza de' nuovi, metterete i vecchi fuora.
11 "I shal fix my home among you and never reject you.	11 Io porrò il mio tabernacolo in mezzo a voi, e l’anima mia non vi rigetterà.
12 I shall live among you; I shall be your God and you will be my people,	12 Camminerò tra voi, e sarò vostro Dio, e voi sarete mio popolo.
13 I, Yahweh your God, who brought you out of Egypt so that you should be their slaves no longer, andwho broke the bonds of your yoke and made you walk with head held high.	13 Io il Signore Dio vostro, che vi ho tratti dalla terra degli Egiziani, affinché non foste schiavi loro, e spezzai le catene de' vostri colli, affinché camminaste a testa alzata.
14 "But if you wil not listen to me and do not put all these commandments into practice,	14 Ma se non mi ascolterete, e non adempirete tutti i miei comandamenti,
15 if you reject my laws and detest my customs, and you break my covenant by not putting al mycommandments into practice,	15 Se disprezzerete le mie leggi, e non farete caso dei miei giudizii, talmente che non facciate quello che è stato da me prescritto, e vano rendiate il mio patto;
16 this is how I shal treat you: "I shal subject you to terror, consumption and fever, making you dim ofsight and short of breath. You wil sow your seed in vain, for your enemies wil eat it.	16 Io pure tratterò con voi in tal guisa: Vi gastigherò prontamente colla penuria, e con un ardore, che seccherà i vostri occhi, e consumerà le vostre vite. Spargerete indarno la vostra sementa, la quale sarà divorata dal nemico.
17 I shall turn against you and you wil be defeated by your enemies. Your foes wil have the masteryover you, and you wil flee when no one is pursuing you.	17 Vi guarderò con faccia irata, e voi cadrete a’ piè dei vostri nemici, e sarete soggetti a coloro che vi odiano: vi darete alla fuga senza che alcuno vi perseguiti.
18 "And if, in spite of this, you will not listen to me, I shal punish you seven times over for your sins.	18 Che se nemmeno allora sarete a me obbedienti, vi gastigherò sette volte di più pei vostri peccati.
19 I shall break your proud strength. I shal make the sky like iron for you, and your soil like bronze.	19 E spezzerò la superba durezza vostra, e farò che il cielo lassù sia di ferro per voi, e la terra di bronzo.
20 You wil wear out your strength in vain, your land will not yield its produce, nor the trees of the countrytheir fruit.	20 Le fatiche vostre saranno gettate in vano; la terra non germinerà, né le piante daranno frutti.
21 "And if you go against me and wil not listen to me, I shall heap seven times more plagues on you foryour sins.	21 Che se voi vi metterete in arringo contro di me, e non vorrete obbedirmi, accrescerò sette volte le vostre piaghe a causa de’ vostri peccati:
22 I shall send wild animals to attack you and rob you of your children, destroy your cattle and reduceyour numbers until your roads are deserted.	22 E spedirò contro di voi fiere selvagge, le quali divorino voi, e i vostri bestiami, e vi riducano a piccol numero, e le vostre strade diventeranno deserte.
23 "And if that does not reform you, and you stil go against me,	23 E se neppure allora vorrete emendarvi, ma vi metterete in arringo contro di me,
24 then I shal go against you and punish you another seven times over for your sins.	24 Io pure mi metterò in arringo contro di voi, e vi percuoterò sette volte pe’ vostri peccati:
25 I shall bring the sword on you, which will avenge the covenant, and when you huddle inside yourtowns, I shal send pestilence among you, and you will fal into the enemy's clutches.	25 E farò piombare sopra di voi la spada, che farà vendetta di mia alleanza. E se vi rifugerete nelle città, manderò tra voi la peste, e sarete dati in potere dei nemici,
26 When I take away the bread which supports you, ten women wil be able to bake your bread in oneoven and wil then dole your bread out by weight; you wil eat but not be satisfied.	26 Quando io v’avrò tolto il sostentamento del vostro pane, talmente che dieci donne cuocano ad un solo forno, e il pane rendano peso; e mangerete, ma non vi sazierete.
27 "And if, in spite of this, you will not listen to me but go against me,	27 Che se neppur con questo m’ascolterete, ma farete a me guerra,
28 I shall go against you in fury and punish you seven times over for your sins.	28 Io pure farò guerra a voi con furor da nemico, e gastigherovvi con sette piaghe pe’ vostri peccati,
29 You wil eat the flesh of your own sons, you wil eat the flesh of your own daughters.	29 Talmente che mangerete le carni de’ vostri figliuoli, e delle vostre figliuole.
30 I shall destroy your high places and smash your incense-altars; I shal pile your corpses on thecorpses of your foul idols and shall reject you.	30 Io sterminerò gli eccelsi luoghi vostri e spezzerò i simulacri. Cadrete tralle ruine degl’idoli vostri e l’anima mia vi prenderà in abborrimento,
31 I shall reduce your cities to ruins; I shal lay waste your sanctuary and refuse to inhale from yousmel s intended to please.	31 Talmente che ridurrò in solitudine le vostre città, e desolerò i vostri Santuari, né più accetterò l’odor soavissimo.
32 I shall make such a desolation of the country that your enemies who come to live there wil beappal ed by it.	32 Diserterò il vostro paese, ne rimarranno attoniti i vostri nemici, allorché vi entreranno ad abitarlo;
33 And I shal scatter you among the nations. I shal unsheathe the sword against you, reducing yourcountry to desert and your towns to ruins.	33 E voi dispergerò tralle genti, e sguainata la spada v’incalzerò alle spalle, e la terra vostra sarà deserta, e ridotte in polvere le vostre città.
34 Then the country wil indeed observe its Sabbaths, al the while it lies deserted, while you are in thecountry of your enemies. Then indeed the country wil rest and observe its Sabbaths.	34 Allora la terra si goderà i suoi sabati per tutto il tempo che ella sarà in solitudine: quando voi sarete nel paese de' nemici.
35 And as it lies deserted it will rest, as it never did on your Sabbaths when you were living there.	35 Ella celebrerà i suoi sabati e riposerà ne' giorni di sua solitudine, perché non riposò ne' vostri sabati, quando voi l’abitavate.
36 I shall strike such fear into the hearts of those of you who survive in the countries of their enemiesthat the sound of a fal ing leaf will set them fleeing; they wil flee as though fleeing from the sword, and fal whenno one is pursuing.	36 E a quelli, che rimarranno di voi, empierò il cuor di paura nelle regioni de’ nemici; gli atterrirà il movimento d'una foglia volante, e la fuggiranno come una spada: cadranno, senza che alcun gli inseguisca.
37 They will stumble over one another as though fleeing before the sword, when no one is pursuing. You wil be powerless to stand up to your enemies;	37 E precipiteranno l’uno sopra l'altro fratello, quasi fuggissero dalla battaglia: nissun di voi avrà cuor di resistere all'inimico:
38 you wil perish among the nations, and the land of your enemies wil swal ow you up.	38 Perirete tralle nazioni, e la terra nemica v'ingoierà.
39 Those of you who survive wil pine away in their guilt in the countries of their enemies and, bearingthe guilt of their ancestors too, wil pine away like them.	39 Che se alcuni rimarran di costoro, si struggeranno pelle loro iniquità nel paese nemico, e saran flagellati pe' peccati de’ padri loro, e pe' proprii:
40 "Then they shal admit their guilt and that of their ancestors and their infidelities against me, andfurther, their setting themselves against me.	40 Sino a tanto che confessin le loro iniquità, e quelle dei loro maggiori, colle quali hanno offeso me, e m'han fatto guerra.
41 "I in my turn wil go against them and bring them into the land of their enemies. Then theiruncircumcised hearts wil grow humble and then they wil accept the punishment for their guilt.	41 Farò adunque ancor io guerra a loro, e li caccerò in paese nemico, fino a tanto che nell'incirconciso lor cuore abbian vergogna: allora domanderan perdono delle loro empietà.
42 I shall remember my covenant with Jacob, I shal remember my covenant with Isaac and mycovenant with Abraham; and I shal remember the country too.	42 E io mi ricorderò della alleanza formata da me con Giacobbe, e Isacco, e Abramo. Ricorderommi ancor della terra:
43 "Abandoned, the country wil keep its Sabbaths, as it lies deserted in their absence, and they wilhave to accept the punishment for their guilt, since they detested my customs and rejected my laws.	43 La quale evacuata da loro, goderà i suoi sabati, divenuta per causa loro un deserto. Ei chiederan perdono dei loro peccati per non aver fatto conto de' miei giudizii, e per avere sprezzate le mie leggi.
44 "Yet, in spite of al this, when they are in the land of their enemies, I shall not so utterly reject ordetest them as to destroy them completely and break my covenant with them; for I am Yahweh their God.	44 E io per altro quando ei si stavano in paese nemico, non li rigettai totalmente, né li disprezzai a segno, che si riducessero al niente, e vano rendessi io il patto, che ho con loro. Perocché io sono il Signore Dio loro;
45 For their sake I shall remember the covenant I made with those first generations that I brought out ofEgypt while other nations watched, so that I should be their God, I, Yahweh." '	45 E ricorderommi dell'antica mia alleanza, quando a vista delle nazioni, li trassi dalla terra d’Egitto per essere il loro Dio. Io il Signore. Queste sono le minacce, e i precetti, e le leggi stabilite per mezzo di Mosè sul monte Sinai dal Signore, tra sé, e i figliuoli d'Israele.
46 Such were the decrees, customs and laws which Yahweh established between himself and theIsraelites on Mount Sinai through Moses.
