Leviticus 21

1 Yahweh said to Moses: 'Speak to the priests descended from Aaron and say: "None of them mustmake himself unclean by touching the corpse of one of his people,	1 Il Signore disse a Mosè: «Parla ai sacerdoti, figli di Aronne, dicendo loro: “Un sacerdote non dovrà rendersi impuro per il contatto con un morto della sua parentela,
2 unless it be of one of his closest relations-father, mother, son, daughter, brother,	2 se non per un suo parente stretto, cioè per sua madre, suo padre, suo figlio, sua figlia, suo fratello
3 or virgin sister, since she being unmarried is still his close relation: he can make himself unclean forher;	3 e sua sorella ancora vergine, che viva con lui e non sia ancora maritata; per questa può esporsi all’impurità.
4 but for a close female relation who is married he wil not make himself unclean; he would profanehimself.	4 Come marito, non si renda impuro per la sua parentela, profanando se stesso.
5 "They wil not make tonsures on their heads, shave the edges of their beards, or gash their bodies.	5 I sacerdoti non si faranno tonsure sul capo, né si raderanno ai margini la barba né si faranno incisioni sul corpo.
6 They wil be consecrated to their God and wil not profane the name of their God. For their function isto offer the food burnt for Yahweh, the food of their God, and so they must be holy.	6 Saranno santi per il loro Dio e non profaneranno il nome del loro Dio, perché sono loro che presentano al Signore sacrifici consumati dal fuoco, pane del loro Dio; perciò saranno santi.
7 "They wil not marry a woman profaned by prostitution, or one divorced by her husband, for the priestis consecrated to his God.	7 Non prenderanno in moglie una prostituta o una già disonorata, né una donna ripudiata dal marito. Infatti il sacerdote è santo per il suo Dio.
8 "You wil treat him as holy, for he offers the food of your God. For you, he wil be a holy person, for I,Yahweh, who sanctify you, am holy.	8 Tu considererai dunque il sacerdote come santo, perché egli offre il pane del tuo Dio: sarà per te santo, perché io, il Signore, che vi santifico, sono santo.
9 "If a priest's daughter profanes herself by prostitution, she profanes her father and wil be burnt alive.	9 Se la figlia di un sacerdote si disonora prostituendosi, disonora suo padre; sarà arsa con il fuoco.
10 "The priest who is pre-eminent over his brothers, on whose head the anointing oil has been poured,and who, robed in the sacred vestments, has received investiture, wil not disorder his hair or tear his clothes;	10 Il sacerdote, quello che è il sommo tra i suoi fratelli, sul capo del quale è stato versato l’olio dell’unzione e ha ricevuto l’investitura, indossando le vesti sacre, non dovrà scarmigliarsi i capelli né stracciarsi le vesti.
11 he wil not go near any corpse or make himself unclean even for his father or mother.	11 Non si avvicinerà ad alcun cadavere; non potrà rendersi impuro neppure per suo padre e per sua madre.
12 He wil not leave the holy place in such a way as to profane the sanctuary of his God; for he bears theconsecration of the anointing oil of his God. I am Yahweh.	12 Non uscirà dal santuario e non profanerà il santuario del suo Dio, perché la consacrazione è su di lui mediante l’olio dell’unzione del suo Dio. Io sono il Signore.
13 "He will marry a woman who is stil a virgin.	13 Sposerà una vergine.
14 He wil not marry a woman who has been widowed or divorced or profaned by prostitution, but wilmarry a virgin from his own people:	14 Non potrà sposare né una vedova né una divorziata né una disonorata né una prostituta, ma prenderà in moglie una vergine della sua parentela.
15 he must not make his own children profane, for I, Yahweh, have sanctified him." '	15 Così non disonorerà la sua discendenza tra la sua parentela; poiché io sono il Signore che lo santifico”».
16 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:	16 Il Signore parlò a Mosè e disse:
17 'Speak to Aaron and say: "None of your descendants, for al time, may come forward to offer the foodof his God if he has any infirmity,	17 «Parla ad Aronne dicendo: “Nelle generazioni future nessun uomo della tua stirpe che abbia qualche deformità potrà accostarsi ad offrire il pane del suo Dio;
18 for none may come forward if he has an infirmity, be he blind or lame, disfigured or deformed,	18 perché nessun uomo che abbia qualche deformità potrà accostarsi: né un cieco né uno zoppo né uno sfregiato né un deforme,
19 or with an injured foot or arm,	19 né chi abbia una frattura al piede o alla mano,
20 a hunchback, someone with rickets or ophthalmia or the scab or running sores, or a eunuch.	20 né un gobbo né un nano né chi abbia una macchia nell’occhio o la scabbia o piaghe purulente o i testicoli schiacciati.
21 No descendant of the priest Aaron may come forward to offer the food burnt for Yahweh if he has anyinfirmity; if he has an infirmity, he wil not come forward to offer the food of his God.	21 Nessun uomo della stirpe del sacerdote Aronne con qualche deformità si accosterà per presentare i sacrifici consumati dal fuoco in onore del Signore. Ha un difetto: non si accosti quindi per offrire il pane del suo Dio.
22 "He may eat the food of his God, things especially holy and things holy,	22 Potrà mangiare il pane del suo Dio, le cose sacrosante e le cose sante;
23 but he wil not go near the curtain or approach the altar, since he has an infirmity and must notprofane my holy things; for I, Yahweh, have sanctified them." '	23 ma non potrà avvicinarsi al velo né accostarsi all’altare, perché ha una deformità. Non dovrà profanare i miei luoghi santi, perché io sono il Signore che li santifico”».
24 And Moses promulgated this to Aaron, to his sons, and to all the Israelites.	24 Così Mosè parlò ad Aronne, ai suoi figli e a tutti gli Israeliti.
