Isaiah 42

1 Here is my servant whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom my soul delights. I have sent my spiritupon him, he will bring fair judgement to the nations.	1 Ecco il mio servo, io sarò con lui; il mio eletto, in lui si compiace l'anima mia: in lui ho diffuso il mio Spirito, egli mostrerà la giustizia alle genti.
2 He does not cry out or raise his voice, his voice is not heard in the street;	2 Ei non griderà, e non sarà accettator di persone; né udirassi di fuori la voce di lui.
3 he does not break the crushed reed or snuff the faltering wick. Faithful y he presents fair judgement;	3 Ei non ispezzerà la canna fessa, e non ammorzerà il lucignolo, che fuma: farà giudizio secondo la verità.
4 he wil not grow faint, he wil not be crushed until he has established fair judgement on earth, and thecoasts and islands are waiting for his instruction.	4 Non sarà maninconioso, né turbolento per tutto il tempo, che stabilirà interra la giustizia: e da lui le isole aspetteranno la legge.
5 Thus says God, Yahweh, who created the heavens and spread them out, who hammered into shapethe earth and what comes from it, who gave breath to the people on it, and spirit to those who walk on it:	5 Queste cose dice il Signore Dio, che crea, e distende i cieli: che dà l'essere alla terra, e alle cose, che di lei nascono: che dà il respiro a quegli, che in essa albergano, e lo spirito a quegli, che la passeggiano.
6 I, Yahweh, have called you in saving justice, I have grasped you by the hand and shaped you; I havemade you a covenant of the people and light to the nations,	6 Io il Signore, ti ho chiamato per amore della giustizia, ti ho preso per mano, e ti ho preservato. Te ho io stabilito riconciliatore del popolo, luce delle nazioni,
7 to open the eyes of the blind, to free captives from prison, and those who live in darkness from thedungeon.	7 Affinchè tu aprissi gli occhi de ciechi, e traessi dalla carcere i prigionieri, dalla stanza della loro prigione que', che giacevano nelle tenebre.
8 I am Yahweh, that is my name! I shal not yield my glory to another, nor my honour to idols.	8 Io il Signore, questo è il nome mio: non cederò ad un altro la gloria mia, né l'onor mio ai simolacri.
9 See how the former predictions have come true. Fresh things I now reveal; before they appear I tel youof them.	9 Quelle prime cose, ecco che sono avvenute, nuove cose ancora io annunzio; a voi le svelo avanti che avvengano.
10 Sing a new song to Yahweh! Let his praise be sung from remotest parts of the earth by those who sailthe sea and by everything in it, by the coasts and islands and those who inhabit them.	10 Un nuovo cantico cantate al Signore; le lodi di lui dagli ultimi confini della terra: voi, che passeggiate il mare quant'egli è vasto, voi, o isole, e voi, che le abitate.
11 Let the desert and its cities raise their voices, the encampments where Kedar lives. Let the inhabitantsof the Rock cry aloud for joy and shout from the mountain tops.	11 Esulti il deserto, e le sue città: Cedar albergherà pelle case: abitanti di Petra cantate laude, alzate la voce dalla cima delle montagne.
12 Let them give glory to Yahweh and, in the coasts and islands, let them voice his praise.	12 Ei daran gloria al Signore, e alle isole annunzieranno le lodi di lui.
13 Yahweh advances like a hero, like a warrior he rouses his fire. He shouts, he raises the war cry, heshows his might against his foes.	13 Il Signore uscirà fuora come un campione, come un eroe guerriero risveglierà il suo zelo: alzerà la voce, griderà, conquiderà i suoi nemici.
14 'From long ago I have been silent, I have kept quiet, held myself in check, groaning like a woman inlabour, panting and gasping for air.	14 Mi tacqui sempre, stetti in silenzio, fui paziente. Voci di partoriente saran le mie voci: desolerò, e divorerò insieme.
15 I shal ravage mountain and hil , shal wither al their vegetation; I shal turn the torrents into firmground and dry up the marshes.	15 Diserterò i monti, ed i colli, e seccherò tutte le erbe loro, e cangerò in isole i fiumi, e renderò asciutti gli stagni.
16 I shal lead the blind by a road they do not know, by paths they do not know I shal conduct them. Ishall turn the darkness into light before them and the quagmires into solid ground. This I shal do -- without fail.'	16 E i ciechi condurrò per una strada, che lor era ignota, e per sentieri non battuti da loro, farò, che camminino: farò, che per essi si cangin le tenebre in luce, e le vie storte in diritte: queste cose farò per essi, e non gli abbandonerò.
17 Those who trust in idols will recoil, they will blush for shame, who say to metal images, 'You are ourgods.'	17 Caderanno all'indietro, e saran colmi di confusione quei, che confidano ne' simolacri, que' che dicono alle statue di getto: Voi siete i nostri dei.
18 Listen, you deaf! Look and see, you blind!	18 Sordi udite, e voi ciechi mirate, e vedete.
19 Who so blind as my servant, so deaf as the messenger I send? (Who so blind as the friend I havetaken to myself, so deaf as Yahweh's servant?)	19 Chi è il cieco, se non il mio servo? e chi è il sordo, se non quello, a cui ho mandati i miei nunzi? Chi è il cieco, se non il servo venduto? E chi è il cieco, se non il servo del Signore?
20 You have seen many things but not observed them; your ears are open but you do not hear.	20 Tu, che vedi molte cose, non vi farai tu riflessione? tu, che hai aperte le orecchie, non ascolterai tu?
21 Yahweh wished, because of his saving justice, to make the Law great and glorious.	21 E il Signore ebbe buona volontà per lui, affin di santificarlo, e per far conoscere la grandezza, e l'eccellenza della legge.
22 Yet here is a people pil aged and plundered, all of them shut up in caves, imprisoned in dungeons.They have been pil aged, with no one to rescue them, plundered, with no one to say, 'Give it back!'	22 Ma lo stesso mio popolo è saccheggiato, è devastato: ognun di essi è laccio pei giovani, che sono chiusi nelle prigioni: sono stati rapiti, né v'ha chi gli sciolga: sono stati predati, né v'ha chi dica: Rendigli.
23 Which of you wil listen to this, who pay attention and listen in future?	23 Chi è tra voi, che ascolti queste cose, e dia retta, e pensi a quel, che ha da essere?
24 Who surrendered Jacob to the plunderer and Israel to the pil agers? Was it not Yahweh, againstwhom we had sinned, in whose ways they would not walk and whose Law they would not obey?	24 Chi ha abbandonato Giacobbe, e Israele ad essere preda di coloro, che lo saccheggiano? Non è egli il Signore stesso, contro del quale abbiam peccato? perocché non han voluto battere le vie di lui, e non hanno ubbidito alla sua legge;
25 On him he poured out his blazing anger and the fury of war; it enveloped him in flames and yet he didnot understand; it burned him up, but he did not learn a lesson.	25 Ed egli ha scaricato sopra di lui l'ira, e il furor suo, e gli fa atroce guerra, e lo ha arso per ogni banda, e quegli non ha capito; e lo ha dato al fuoco, e quegli non ha inteso.
