Isaiah 42

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Here is my servant whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom my soul delights. I have sent my spiritupon him, he will bring fair judgement to the nations.	1 Este es mi Servidor, a quien yo sostengo, mi elegido, en quien se complace mi alma. Yo he puesto mi espíritu sobre él para que lleve el derecho a las naciones.
2 He does not cry out or raise his voice, his voice is not heard in the street;	2 El no gritará, no levantará la voz ni la hará resonar por las calles.
3 he does not break the crushed reed or snuff the faltering wick. Faithful y he presents fair judgement;	3 No romperá la caña quebrada ni apagará la mecha que arde débilmente. Expondrá el derecho con fidelidad;
4 he wil not grow faint, he wil not be crushed until he has established fair judgement on earth, and thecoasts and islands are waiting for his instruction.	4 no desfallecerá ni se desalentará hasta implantar el derecho en la tierra, y las costas lejanas esperarán su Ley.
5 Thus says God, Yahweh, who created the heavens and spread them out, who hammered into shapethe earth and what comes from it, who gave breath to the people on it, and spirit to those who walk on it:	5 Así habla Dios, el Señor, el que creó el cielo y lo desplegó, el que extendió la tierra y lo que ella produce, el que da el aliento al pueblo que la habita y el espíritu a los que caminan por ella.
6 I, Yahweh, have called you in saving justice, I have grasped you by the hand and shaped you; I havemade you a covenant of the people and light to the nations,	6 Yo, el Señor, te llamé en la justicia, te sostuve de la mano, te formé y te destiné a ser la alianza del pueblo, la luz de las naciones,
7 to open the eyes of the blind, to free captives from prison, and those who live in darkness from thedungeon.	7 para abrir los ojos de los ciegos, para hacer salir de la prisión a los cautivos y de la cárcel a los que habitan en las tinieblas.
8 I am Yahweh, that is my name! I shal not yield my glory to another, nor my honour to idols.	8 ¡Yo soy el Señor, este es mi Nombre! No cederé mi gloria a ningún otro ni mi alabanza a los ídolos.
9 See how the former predictions have come true. Fresh things I now reveal; before they appear I tel youof them.	9 Las cosas antiguas ya han sucedido y yo anuncio cosas nuevas; yo se las hago oír a ustedes.
10 Sing a new song to Yahweh! Let his praise be sung from remotest parts of the earth by those who sailthe sea and by everything in it, by the coasts and islands and those who inhabit them.	10 ¡Canten al Señor un canto nuevo, alábenlo desde los confines de la tierra; resuene el mar y todo lo que hay en él, las costas lejanas y sus habitantes!
11 Let the desert and its cities raise their voices, the encampments where Kedar lives. Let the inhabitantsof the Rock cry aloud for joy and shout from the mountain tops.	11 ¡Que alcen la voz el desierto y sus ciudades, los poblados donde habita Quedar! ¡Griten de alegría los habitantes de la Roca, aclamen desde la cumbre de las montañas!
12 Let them give glory to Yahweh and, in the coasts and islands, let them voice his praise.	12 ¡Den gloria al Señor, proclamen su alabanza en las costas lejanas!
13 Yahweh advances like a hero, like a warrior he rouses his fire. He shouts, he raises the war cry, heshows his might against his foes.	13 El Señor irrumpe como un héroe, se enardece como un guerrero; lanza un grito de guerra, un alarido estridente, se arroja como un héroe contra sus enemigos:
14 'From long ago I have been silent, I have kept quiet, held myself in check, groaning like a woman inlabour, panting and gasping for air.	14 «Yo permanecí callado mucho tiempo, guardé silencio y me contuve; ahora gimo como una parturienta, me sofoco y estoy jadeante.
15 I shal ravage mountain and hil , shal wither al their vegetation; I shal turn the torrents into firmground and dry up the marshes.	15 Arrasaré montañas y colinas, y secaré todo su verdor; convertiré los ríos en tierra árida y secaré los estanques.
16 I shal lead the blind by a road they do not know, by paths they do not know I shal conduct them. Ishall turn the darkness into light before them and the quagmires into solid ground. This I shal do -- without fail.'	16 Conduciré a los ciegos por un camino que ignoran, los guiaré por senderos desconocidos; cambiaré las tinieblas en luz delante de ellos, y el suelo escarpado en una llanura. Estas son las cosas que haré, y no dejaré de hacerlas.
17 Those who trust in idols will recoil, they will blush for shame, who say to metal images, 'You are ourgods.'	17 Así retrocederán llenos de vergüenza los que confían en los ídolos, los que dicen al metal fundido: «Ustedes son nuestros dioses».
18 Listen, you deaf! Look and see, you blind!	18 ¡Oigan, ustedes, los sordos; ustedes, los ciegos, miren y vean!
19 Who so blind as my servant, so deaf as the messenger I send? (Who so blind as the friend I havetaken to myself, so deaf as Yahweh's servant?)	19 ¿Quién es ciego, sino mi servidor y sordo como el mensajero que yo envío? ¿Quién es ciego, sino mi servidor y sordo como el mensajero que yo envío? ¿Quién es ciego como el que ha pactado conmigo y sordo como el servidor del Señor?
20 You have seen many things but not observed them; your ears are open but you do not hear.	20 Tú has visto muchas cosas, pero sin prestar atención; has abierto los oídos, pero sin escuchar.
21 Yahweh wished, because of his saving justice, to make the Law great and glorious.	21 El Señor, a causa de su justicia, quería hacer grande y gloriosa la Ley;
22 Yet here is a people pil aged and plundered, all of them shut up in caves, imprisoned in dungeons.They have been pil aged, with no one to rescue them, plundered, with no one to say, 'Give it back!'	22 pero ahora no es más que un pueblo saqueado y despojado, están todos atrapados en cuevas y encerrados en cárceles. Se los saquea, y nadie los libra, se los despoja, y nadie dice: ¡Restituye!».
23 Which of you wil listen to this, who pay attention and listen in future?	23 ¿Quién de ustedes presta oído a esto y escucha atentamente con miras al futuro
24 Who surrendered Jacob to the plunderer and Israel to the pil agers? Was it not Yahweh, againstwhom we had sinned, in whose ways they would not walk and whose Law they would not obey?	24 ¿Quién entregó a Jacob al despojo, y a Israel a los expoliadores? ¿No es el Señor, contra quien hemos pecado por no querer seguir sus caminos y haber desoído su Ley?
25 On him he poured out his blazing anger and the fury of war; it enveloped him in flames and yet he didnot understand; it burned him up, but he did not learn a lesson.	25 El Señor derramó contra él el ardor de su ira y el estallido de la guerra; lo envolvió en llamas, pero él no comprendió; lo quemó, pero él no hizo caso.
