1 Send the lamb to the ruler of the land, from Sela by the desert, to the mountain of the daughter of Zion,	1 - Mandate l'agnello del dominatore del paese, da Petra del deserto al monte della figlia di Sion.
2 for soon, like a fluttered bird, like nestlings cast out, wil be the women of Moab at the fords of theArnon.	2 Prima che avvenga alle figlie di Moab di trovarsi, come uccelli fuggitivi e come pulcini sbattuti fuori dal nido, ai passi dell'Arnon.
3 Hold a council, make a decision. At noon spread your shadow as if it were night. Hide those who havebeen driven out, do not betray the fugitive,	3 «Prendi un provvedimento, accordaci un soccorso, stendi la tua ombra protettrice, come notte in pien meriggio, nascondi i fuggitivi, i dispersi non tradirli,
4 let those who have been driven out of Moab come and live with you; be their refuge in the face of thedevastator. Once the oppression is past, and the devastation has stopped and those now trampling on thecountry have gone away,	4 restino presso di te i miei profughi, sii per Moab il loro nascondiglio contro il devastatore». Infatti il turbinar [della guerra] è cessato, quel miserabile è perito, e colui che conculcava la terra disparve.
5 the throne wil be made secure in faithful love and on it wil sit in constancy within the tent of David, ajudge seeking fair judgement and pursuing uprightness.	5 E il trono preparato nella misericordia resterà, e sederà su di esso infallibilmente, nel tabernacolo di David, chi giudica, chi ricerca l'equità e chi è pronto a rendere giustizia.
6 We have heard about Moab's pride, about how very proud it is, about its arrogance, its pride, its rage,its bravado, which wil come to nothing!	6 Abbiamo invece udita la superbia di Moab, egli è grandemente superbo; ma la sua superbia e la sua arroganza sdegnosa è maggiore della sua forza.
7 And so Moab is wailing for Moab, wailing, every one of them. For the raisin cakes of Kir-Hareseth youmourn, stricken with grief.	7 Perciò Moab urlerà di contro a Moab, vi sarà un urlo universale: a coloro che si compiacciono delle mura di mattoni cotti annunziate le loro sventure.
8 For Heshbon's vineyards are withering, the vine of Sibmah whose red grapes used to overcome theoverlords of the nations. It used to reach to Jazer, had wound its way into the desert, its shoots grew sonumerous they spread across the sea.	8 Giacchè i sobborghi di Hesebon sono deserti, i signori delle nazioni hanno tagliata la vigna di Sabama, i cui tralci si erano distesi fino a Jazer, ed erano scorsi nel deserto, e abbandonate le loro propaggini, avevano passato il mare.
9 And so I weep, as Jazer weeps, for the vine of Sibmah. I water you with my tears, Heshbon andElealeh. For over your harvest and vintage the cheering has died away;	9 Per questo piangerò al pianto di Jazer, piangerò la vigna di Sabama; ti irrigherò colle mie lacrime, o Hesebon, o Eleale; perchè sopra alla tua vendemmia e alla tua mèsse è piombato il grido dei pigiatori.
10 joy and gladness have vanished from the orchards. No more revelry in the vineyards, no more happyshouting; no more the treader treads wine in the presses, the cheering has ceased.	10 Sarà tolta al Carmelo la gioia e la letizia, e nelle vigne chi soleva pigiar l'uve, non farà più allegria nè festa, nè vino più dallo strettoio spremerà: colui che soleva spremerlo ha fatto cessare la gioia clamorosa dei vendemmiatori.
11 That is why my whole being quivers like harp strings for Moab, my very heart, for Kir-Heres.	11 Per questo le mie viscere, come un'arpa, singhiozzano su Moab e le mie interiora pel muro di mattoni cotti.
12 Moab will be seen, wearing itself out on the high places and going to its temple to pray, but it wilaccomplish nothing.	12 E avverrà che Moab quando vedrà d'essersi affaticata invano sulle alture dei suoi idoli, entrerà nel suo tempio per pregare, e non potrà ottener nulla.
13 Such was the word which Yahweh spoke about Moab in the past.	13 Quest'è la parola che il Signore ha detto a Moab già da tempo,
14 And now Yahweh has spoken in these terms, 'Within three years, as a hired worker reckons them, the glory of Moab wil be humbled, despite its teeming population. It wil be reduced to nothing, an insignificantremnant.'	14 ed ora il Signore ha parlato dicendo: «In tre anni, quanto gli anni d'un mercenario, sarà tolta la gloria di Moab vantatrice di tutto il suo gran popolo, e resterà piccolo ed esiguo e nient'affatto numeroso».
