Wisdom 9

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 'God of our ancestors, Lord of mercy, who by your word have made the universe,	1 «Dios de los Padres, Señor de la misericordia, que hiciste el universo con tu palabra,
2 and in your wisdom have fitted human beings to rule the creatures that you have made,	2 y con tu Sabiduría formaste al hombre para que dominase sobre los seres por ti creados,
3 to govern the world in holiness and saving justice and in honesty of soul to dispense fair judgement,	3 administrase el mundo con santidad y justicia y juzgase con rectitud de espíritu,
4 grant me Wisdom, consort of your throne, and do not reject me from the number of your children.	4 dame la Sabiduría, que se sienta junto a tu trono, y no me excluyas del número de tus hijos.
5 For I am your servant, son of your serving maid, a feeble man, with little time to live, with smalunderstanding of justice and the laws.	5 Que soy un siervo tuyo, hijo de tu sierva, un hombre débil y de vida efímera, poco apto para entender la justicia y las leyes.
6 Indeed, were anyone perfect among the sons of men, if he lacked the Wisdom that comes from you, hewould still count for nothing.	6 Pues, aunque uno sea perfecto entre los hijos de los hombres, si le falta la Sabiduría que de ti procede, en nada será tenido.
7 'You have chosen me to be king over your people, to be judge of your sons and daughters.	7 Tú me elegiste como rey de tu pueblo, como juez de tus hijos y tus hijas;
8 You have bidden me build a temple on your holy mountain, and an altar in the city where you havepitched your tent, a copy of the holy Tent which you prepared at the beginning.	8 tú me ordenaste edificar un santuario en tu monte santo y un altar en la ciudad donde habitas, imitación de la Tienda santa que habías preparado desde el principio.
9 With you is Wisdom, she who knows your works, she who was present when you made the world; sheunderstands what is pleasing in your eyes and what agrees with your commandments.	9 Contigo está la Sabiduría que conoce tus obras, que estaba presente cuando hacías el mundo, que sabe lo que es agradable a tus ojos, y lo que es conforme a tus mandamientos.
10 Despatch her from the holy heavens, send her forth from your throne of glory to help me and to toilwith me and teach me what is pleasing to you;	10 Envíala de los cielos santos, mándala de tu trono de gloria para que a mi lado participe en mis trabajos y sepa yo lo que te es agradable,
11 since she knows and understands everything she wil guide me prudently in my actions and wil protectme with her glory.	11 pues ella todo lo sabe y entiende. Ella me guiará prudentemente en mis empresas y me protegerá con su gloria.
12 Then al I do wil be acceptable, I shal govern your people justly and be worthy of my father's throne.	12 Entonces mis obras serán aceptables, juzgaré a tu pueblo con justicia y seré digno del trono de mi padre.
13 'What human being indeed can know the intentions of God? And who can comprehend the wil of theLord?	13 ¿Qué hombre, en efecto, podrá conocer la voluntad de Dios? ¿Quién hacerse idea de lo que el Señor quiere?
14 For the reasoning of mortals is inadequate, our attitudes of mind unstable;	14 Los pensamientos de los mortales son tímidos e inseguras nuestras ideas,
15 for a perishable body presses down the soul, and this tent of clay weighs down the mind with its many cares.	15 pues un cuerpo corruptible agobia el alma y esta tienda de tierra abruma el espíritu lleno de preocupaciones.
16 It is hard enough for us to work out what is on earth, laborious to know what lies within our reach; who,then, can discover what is in the heavens?	16 Trabajosamente conjeturamos lo que hay sobre la tierra y con fatiga hallamos lo que está a nuestro alcance; ¿quién, entonces, ha rastreado lo que está en los cielos?
17 And who could ever have known your will, had you not given Wisdom and sent your holy Spirit fromabove?	17 Y ¿quién habría conocido tu voluntad, si tú no le hubieses dado la Sabiduría y no le hubieses enviado de lo alto tu espíritu santo?
18 Thus have the paths of those on earth been straightened and people have been taught what pleasesyou, and have been saved, by Wisdom.'	18 Sólo así se enderezaron los caminos de los moradores de la tierra, así aprendieron los hombres lo que a ti te agrada y gracias a la Sabiduría se salvaron».
