NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 I too am mortal like everyone else, a descendant of the first man formed from the earth. I was model edin flesh inside a mother's womb,	1 Yo también soy un hombre mortal como todos, un descendiente del primero que fue formado de la tierra. En el seno de una madre fui hecho carne;
2 where, for ten months, in blood I acquired substance -- the result of virile seed and pleasure, sleep'scompanion.	2 durante diez meses fui modelado en su sangre, de una semilla de hombre y del placer que acompaña al sueño.
3 I too, when I was born, drew in the common air, I fel on the same ground that bears us al , and cryingwas the first sound I made, like everyone else.	3 Yo también, una vez nacido, aspiré el aire común, caí en la tierra que a todos recibe por igual y mi primera voz fue la de todos: lloré.
4 I was nurtured in swaddling clothes, with every care.	4 Me crié entre pañales y cuidados.
5 No king has known any other beginning of existence;	5 Pues no hay rey que haya tenido otro comienzo de su existencia;
6 for there is only one way into life, and one way out of it.	6 una es la entrada en la vida para todos y una misma la salida.
7 And so I prayed, and understanding was given me; I entreated, and the spirit of Wisdom came to me.	7 Por eso pedí y se me concedió la prudencia; supliqué y me vino el espíritu de Sabiduría.
8 I esteemed her more than sceptres and thrones; compared with her, I held riches as nothing.	8 Y la preferí a cetros y tronos y en nada tuve a la riqueza en comparación de ella.
9 I reckoned no precious stone to be her equal, for compared with her, al gold is a pinch of sand, andbeside her, silver ranks as mud.	9 Ni a la piedra más preciosa la equiparé, porque todo el oro a su lado es un puñado de arena y barro parece la plata en su presencia.
10 I loved her more than health or beauty, preferred her to the light, since her radiance never sleeps.	10 La amé más que la salud y la hermosura y preferí tenerla a ella más que a la luz, porque la claridad que de ella nace no conoce noche.
11 In her company al good things came to me, and at her hands incalculable wealth.	11 Con ella me vinieron a la vez todos los bienes, y riquezas incalculables en sus manos.
12 All these delighted me, since Wisdom brings them, though I did not then realise that she was theirmother.	12 Y yo me regocijé con todos estos bienes porque la Sabiduría los trae, aunque ignoraba que ella fuese su madre.
13 What I learned diligently, I shal pass on liberally, I shal not conceal how rich she is.	13 Con sencillez la aprendí y sin envidia la comunico; no me guardo ocultas sus riquezas
14 For she is to human beings an inexhaustible treasure, and those who acquire this win God'sfriendship, commended to him by the gifts of instruction.	14 porque es para los hombres un tesoro inagotable y los que lo adquieren se granjean la amistad de Dios recomendados por los dones que les trae la instrucción.
15 May God grant me to speak as he would wish and conceive thoughts worthy of the gifts I havereceived, since he is both guide to Wisdom and director of sages;	15 Concédame Dios hablar según él quiere y concebir pensamientos dignos de sus dones, porque él es quien guía a la Sabiduría y quien dirige a los sabios;
16 for we are in his hand, yes, ourselves and our sayings, and al intellectual and al practical knowledge.	16 que nosotros y nuestras palabras en sus manos estamos con toda nuestra prudencia y destreza en el obrar.
17 He it was who gave me sure knowledge of what exists, to understand the structure of the world andthe action of the elements,	17 Fue él quien me concedió un conocimiento verdadero de los seres, para conocer la estructura del mundo y la actividad de los elementos,
18 the beginning, end and middle of the times, the alternation of the solstices and the succession of theseasons,	18 el principio, el fin y el medio de los tiempos, los cambios de los solsticios y la sucesión de las estaciones,
19 the cycles of the year and the position of the stars,	19 los ciclos del año y la posición de las estrellas,
20 the natures of animals and the instincts of wild beasts, the powers of spirits and human mentalprocesses, the varieties of plants and the medical properties of roots.	20 la naturaleza de los animales y los instintos de las fieras, el poder de los espíritus y los pensamientos de los hombres, las variedades de las plantas y las virtudes de las raíces.
21 And now I understand everything, hidden or visible, for Wisdom, the designer of all things, hasinstructed me.	21 Cuanto está oculto y cuanto se ve, todo lo conocí, porque el artífice de todo, la Sabiduría, me lo enseñó.
22 For within her is a spirit intel igent, holy, unique, manifold, subtle, mobile, incisive, unsul ied, lucid,invulnerable, benevolent, shrewd,	22 Pues hay en ella un espíritu inteligente, santo, único, múltiple, sutil, ágil, perspicaz, inmaculado, claro, impasible, amante del bien, agudo,
23 irresistible, beneficent, friendly to human beings, steadfast, dependable, unperturbed, almighty, al -surveying, penetrating al intel igent, pure and most subtle spirits.	23 incoercible, bienhechor, amigo del hombre, firme, seguro, sereno, que todo lo puede, todo lo observa, penetra todos los espíritus, los inteligentes, los puros, los más sutiles.
24 For Wisdom is quicker to move than any motion; she is so pure, she pervades and permeates allthings.	24 Porque a todo movimiento supera en movilidad la Sabiduría, todo lo atraviesa y penetra en virtud de su pureza.
25 She is a breath of the power of God, pure emanation of the glory of the Almighty; so nothing impurecan find its way into her.	25 Es un hálito del poder de Dios, una emanación pura de la gloria del Omnipotente, por lo que nada manchado llega a alcanzarla.
26 For she is a reflection of the eternal light, untarnished mirror of God's active power, and image of hisgoodness.	26 Es un reflejo de la luz eterna, un espejo sin mancha de la actividad de Dios, una imagen de su bondad.
27 Although she is alone, she can do everything; herself unchanging, she renews the world, and,generation after generation, passing into holy souls, she makes them into God's friends and prophets;	27 Aun siendo sola, lo puede todo; sin salir de sí misma, renueva el universo; en todas las edades, entrando en las almas santas, forma en ellas amigos de Dios y profetas,
28 for God loves only those who dwel with Wisdom.	28 porque Dios no ama sino a quien vive con la Sabiduría.
29 She is indeed more splendid than the sun, she outshines al the constel ations; compared with light,she takes first place,	29 Es ella, en efecto, más bella que el sol, supera a todas las constelaciones; comparada con la luz, sale vencedora,
30 for light must yield to night, but against Wisdom evil cannot prevail.	30 porque a la luz sucede la noche, pero contra la Sabiduría no prevalece la maldad.
