1 Love uprightness you who are rulers on earth, be properly disposed towards the Lord and seek him insimplicity of heart;	1 Amate la giustizia, voi che governate la terra, pensate bene di Dio, e cercatelo con sincerità di cuore;
2 for he wil be found by those who do not put him to the test, revealing himself to those who do notmistrust him.	2 perchè Egli si fa trovare da chi non lo tenta, si fa vedere da chi ha fede in lui.
3 Perverse thoughts, however, separate people from God, and power, when put to the test, confounds thestupid.	3 I cattivi pensieri allontanano da Dio, e la virtù, messa alla prova, corregge gli stolti.
4 Wisdom wil never enter the soul of a wrong-doer, nor dwell in a body enslaved to sin;	4 La sapienza non entre­rà in un'anima malvagia, nè po­trà abitare in un corpo venduto al peccato.
5 for the holy spirit of instruction flees deceitfulness, recoils from unintel igent thoughts, is thwarted by theonset of vice.	5 Perché lo Spirito Santo educatore fugge la finzione, si tien lungi dai pensieri insensati, e si ritira al sopravvenire del­l'iniquità.
6 Wisdom is a spirit friendly to humanity, though she will not let a blasphemer's words go unpunished;since God observes the very soul and accurately surveys the heart, listening to every word.	6 Lo spirito di sapienza è beni­gno; ma non lascierà impunite le labbra del maldicente, perchè Dio è testimone dei pensieri di lui, è verace scrutatore del suo cuore, e sta a sentire le sue parole.
7 For the spirit of the Lord fil s the world, and that which holds everything together knows every word said.	7 Infatti, lo Spirito del Signore riem­pie tutto il mondo, e, rimpiendo ogni cosa, sa bene quel che si dice.
8 No one who speaks what is wrong will go undetected, nor will avenging Justice pass by such a one.	8 Per questo chi parla di cose cat­tive non può restar nascosto e non sarà risparmiato dal giudizio punitore.
9 For the schemes of the godless wil be examined, and a report of his words wil reach the Lord toconvict him of his crimes.	9 L'empio sarà interrogato sui suoi pensieri; il suono dei suoi discorsi giungerà a Dio a pu­nizione delle sue iniquità.
10 There is a jealous ear that overhears everything, not even a murmur of complaint escapes it.	10 Or siccome un orecchio geloso ascol­ta ogni cosa, non resterà (a lui) nascosto il sussurro delle mormo­ razioni.
11 So beware of uttering frivolous complaints, restrain your tongue from finding fault; even what is said insecret has repercussions, and a lying mouth deals death to the soul.	11 Guardatevi dunque dalla mormorazione, che non giova a niente, e rattenete la lingua dal­la detrazione, perchè la parola segreta non resterà impunita, e la bocca che mentisce uccide l'a­nima.
12 Do not court death by the errors of your ways, nor invite destruction through the work of your hands.	12 Non andate a cercar la morte cogli errori della vostra vita, e guardatevi dall'attirarvi addosso la perdizione colle opere delle vo­stre mani,
13 For God did not make Death, he takes no pleasure in destroying the living.	13 perchè Dio non ha fatta la morte, nè gode che peri­ scano i vivi.
14 To exist -- for this he created all things; the creatures of the world have health in them, in them is nofatal poison, and Hades has no power over the world:	14 Infatti Egli creò tutte le cose perchè esistessero, e salubri fece le produzioni del mondo: non c'è in esse veleno sterminatore, e il regno dell'in­ferno non è sopra la terra:
15 for uprightness is immortal.	15 la giustizia è perpetua e immortale.
16 But the godless cal for Death with deed and word, counting him friend, they wear themselves out forhim; with him they make a pact, worthy as they are to belong to him.	16 Ma furono gli empi che colle opere e colle parole chiamarono la morte, credendola amica, se ne strussero, a lei si disposarono, essendo ben degni d'appartenere a lei.
