1 Love uprightness you who are rulers on earth, be properly disposed towards the Lord and seek him insimplicity of heart;	1 Amate la giustizia, voi che governate la terra: pensate bene di Dio, e lui cercate colla semplicità del cuore.
2 for he wil be found by those who do not put him to the test, revealing himself to those who do notmistrust him.	2 Perocché egli si trova da quei, che nol tentano: e si da a vedere a quelli, che in lui hanno fede.
3 Perverse thoughts, however, separate people from God, and power, when put to the test, confounds thestupid.	3 Conciossiache i pensieri malvagi allontanano da Dio, e la dimostrata possanza di lui corregge gli stolti:
4 Wisdom wil never enter the soul of a wrong-doer, nor dwell in a body enslaved to sin;	4 Perocché in anima malevola non entrerà la sapienza, e non abiterà in corpo venduto al peccato.
5 for the holy spirit of instruction flees deceitfulness, recoils from unintel igent thoughts, is thwarted by theonset of vice.	5 Perocché lo spirito di disciplina santo fugge l'ipocrita, e si tien lungi dagli imprudenti pensieri, ed è disonorato dalla sopravvegnente iniquità.
6 Wisdom is a spirit friendly to humanity, though she will not let a blasphemer's words go unpunished;since God observes the very soul and accurately surveys the heart, listening to every word.	6 Or lo spirito di sapienza è benigno, e non lascerà impunite le labbra del maldicente; perché degli affetti di lui è testimone Iddio, scrutatore vero del cuor di lui, e uditore di sue parole.
7 For the spirit of the Lord fil s the world, and that which holds everything together knows every word said.	7 Perocché lo spirito del Signore riempie il mondo tutto: e questi, che il tutto contiene, ha cognizione fin d'una voce.
8 No one who speaks what is wrong will go undetected, nor will avenging Justice pass by such a one.	8 Per questo chi parla male non può star nascosto, e non sarà risparmiato dal giudizio di vendetta.
9 For the schemes of the godless wil be examined, and a report of his words wil reach the Lord toconvict him of his crimes.	9 Perocché si farà ricerca de' pensieri dell'empio, e a Dio giungerà il suono di sue parole, affinchè sian punite le sue iniquità.
10 There is a jealous ear that overhears everything, not even a murmur of complaint escapes it.	10 Conciossiachè un'orecchia gelosa ascolta ogni cosa; e non rimarrà nascosto lo strepito delle mormorazioni.
11 So beware of uttering frivolous complaints, restrain your tongue from finding fault; even what is said insecret has repercussions, and a lying mouth deals death to the soul.	11 Guardatevi adunque dalla mormorazione, che non è utile; e rattenete la lingua dalle detrazioni; perocché i segreti discorsi non saranno senza castigo: e la bocca, che proferisce menzogna, da morte all'anima.
12 Do not court death by the errors of your ways, nor invite destruction through the work of your hands.	12 Non andate cercando la morte cogli errori di vostra vita, e guardatevi dal tirarvi addosso la perdizione colle opere delle vostre mani.
13 For God did not make Death, he takes no pleasure in destroying the living.	13 Perché Dio non ha fatta la morte, né gode della perdizione de' viventi.
14 To exist -- for this he created all things; the creatures of the world have health in them, in them is nofatal poison, and Hades has no power over the world:	14 Perocché tutte le cose egli creò, perché fossero, salubri fece le cose, che nascono nel mondo, nelle quali non è veleno sterminatore, e il regno dell'inferno sopra la terra non è.
15 for uprightness is immortal.	15 Imperocché perpetua, ed immortale ell'è la giustizia.
16 But the godless cal for Death with deed and word, counting him friend, they wear themselves out forhim; with him they make a pact, worthy as they are to belong to him.	16 Ma la morte e co' fatti, e colle parole la chiamarono a se gli empj, e credendola amica si consumarono, contratta avendo con lei alleanza, come quelli, che degni sono di appartenere a lei.
