Psalms 132

NEW JERUSALEM	MODERN HEBREW BIBLE
1 [Song of Ascents] Yahweh, remember David and al the hardships he endured,	1 שיר המעלות זכור יהוה לדוד את כל ענותו
2 the oath he swore to Yahweh, his vow to the Mighty One of Jacob:	2 אשר נשבע ליהוה נדר לאביר יעקב
3 'I wil not enter tent or house, wil not climb into bed,	3 אם אבא באהל ביתי אם אעלה על ערש יצועי
4 will not al ow myself to sleep, not even to close my eyes,	4 אם אתן שנת לעיני לעפעפי תנומה
5 til I have found a place for Yahweh, a dwel ing for the Mighty One of Jacob!'	5 עד אמצא מקום ליהוה משכנות לאביר יעקב
6 Listen, we heard of it in Ephrathah, we found it at Forest-Fields.	6 הנה שמענוה באפרתה מצאנוה בשדי יער
7 Let us go into his dwel ing-place, and worship at his footstool.	7 נבואה למשכנותיו נשתחוה להדם רגליו
8 Go up, Yahweh, to your resting-place, you and the ark of your strength.	8 קומה יהוה למנוחתך אתה וארון עזך
9 Your priests are robed in saving justice, your faithful are shouting for joy.	9 כהניך ילבשו צדק וחסידיך ירננו
10 For the sake of your servant David, do not reject your anointed.	10 בעבור דוד עבדך אל תשב פני משיחך
11 Yahweh has sworn to David, and wil always remain true to his word, 'I promise that I wil set a sonof yours upon your throne.	11 נשבע יהוה לדוד אמת לא ישוב ממנה מפרי בטנך אשית לכסא לך
12 If your sons observe my covenant and the instructions I have taught them, their sons too forevermore wil occupy your throne.'	12 אם ישמרו בניך בריתי ועדתי זו אלמדם גם בניהם עדי עד ישבו לכסא לך
13 For Yahweh has chosen Zion, he has desired it as a home.	13 כי בחר יהוה בציון אוה למושב לו
14 'Here shal I rest for evermore, here shal I make my home as I have wished.	14 זאת מנוחתי עדי עד פה אשב כי אותיה
15 'I shal generously bless her produce, give her needy their fil of food,	15 צידה ברך אברך אביוניה אשביע לחם
16 I shal clothe her priests with salvation, and her faithful wil sing aloud for joy.	16 וכהניה אלביש ישע וחסידיה רנן ירננו
17 'There I shal raise up a line of descendants for David, light a lamp for my anointed;	17 שם אצמיח קרן לדוד ערכתי נר למשיחי
18 I shal clothe his enemies with shame, while his own crown shall flourish.'	18 אויביו אלביש בשת ועליו יציץ נזרו
