1 Al eluia! When Israel came out of Egypt, the House of Jacob from a people of foreign speech,	1 Quando Israele uscì dall’Egitto,la casa di Giacobbe da un popolo barbaro,
2 Judah became his sanctuary, and Israel his domain.	2 Giuda divenne il suo santuario,Israele il suo dominio.
3 The sea fled at the sight, the Jordan turned back,	3 Il mare vide e si ritrasse,il Giordano si volse indietro,
4 the mountains skipped like rams, the hil s like sheep.	4 le montagne saltellarono come arieti,le colline come agnelli di un gregge.
5 Sea, what makes you flee? Jordan, why turn back?	5 Che hai tu, mare, per fuggire,e tu, Giordano, per volgerti indietro?
6 Why skip like rams, you mountains? Why like sheep, you hills?	6 Perché voi, montagne, saltellate come arietie voi, colline, come agnelli di un gregge?
7 Tremble, earth, at the coming of the Lord, at the coming of the God of Jacob,	7 Trema, o terra, davanti al Signore,davanti al Dio di Giacobbe,
8 who turns rock into pool, flint into fountain.	8 che muta la rupe in un lago,la roccia in sorgenti d’acqua.
