'This is what you will do to them, to consecrate them to my priesthood. Take one young bull and tworams without blemish;1 “But you shall also do this, so that they may be consecrated to me in the priesthood: Take a calf from the herd, and two immaculate rams,
also unleavened bread, unleavened cakes mixed with oil, and unleavened wafers spread with oil, made from fine wheat flour,2 and unleavened bread, and a crust without leaven that has been sprinkled with oil, likewise, unleavened cakes smeared with oil. You shall make them all from the same wheat flour.
and put these into a basket and present them in the basket, at the same time as the bul and the tworams.3 And, having placed them in baskets, you shall offer them, along with the calf and the two rams.
'You will bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting and bathe them.4 And you shall bring forward Aaron and his sons, to the door of the tabernacle of the testimony. And when you will have washed the father with his sons in water,
You will then take the vestments and dress Aaron in the tunic, the robe of the ephod, the ephod, andthe breastplate, and tie the waistband of the ephod round his waist.5 you shall clothe Aaron in his vestments, that is, with the linen, and the tunic, and the ephod, and the breastplate, which you shall draw together with the wide belt.
Then you will place the turban on his head, and on it put the symbol of holy consecration.6 And you shall place the headdress on his head and the holy plate upon the headdress.
You will then take the anointing oil and pour it on his head and so anoint him.7 And you shall pour the oil of unction over his head. And so, by this rite, he shall be consecrated.
'Next, you wil bring his sons and dress them in tunics,8 Likewise, you shall bring forward his sons, and you shall clothe them in the linen tunics, and wrap them with the wide belt:
and fasten waistbands round their waists and put the head-dresses on their heads. By perpetualdecree the priesthood will be theirs. Then you wil invest Aaron and his sons.9 Aaron, certainly, as well as his sons. And you shall impose headdresses upon them. And they shall be priests to me by a perpetual ordinance. After you have initiated their hands,
'You wil bring the bul in front of the Tent of Meeting, and Aaron and his sons wil lay their hands onthe bul 's head.10 you shall bring forward also the calf, in the presence of the tabernacle of the testimony. And Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands upon its head.
You wil then slaughter the bull before Yahweh at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.11 And you shall sacrifice it in the sight of the Lord, beside the door of the tabernacle of the testimony.
You wil then take some of the bull's blood and with your finger put it on the horns of the altar. Next, pour out the rest of the blood at the foot of the altar.12 And taking some of the blood of the calf, you shall place it upon the horns of the altar with your finger, but the remainder of the blood you shall pour next to its base.
And then take al the fat covering the entrails, the fatty mass over the liver, the two kidneys with theircovering fat, and burn them on the altar.13 And you shall take all the fat which covers its intestines, and the mesh of the liver, as well as the two kidneys, and the fat that is on them, and you shall offer them as a burnt offering upon the altar.
But the young bul 's flesh, its skin and its offal, you wil burn outside the camp, for this is a sinoffering.14 Yet truly, the flesh of the calf, and the hide and the dung, you shall burn outside, beyond the camp, because it is for sin.
'Next, you will take one of the rams, and Aaron and his sons wil lay their hands on the ram's head.15 Likewise, you shall take one ram, and upon its head Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands.
You wil then slaughter the ram, take its blood and pour it against the altar, al round.16 And when you will have sacrificed it, you shall take from its blood and pour it around the altar.
Next, cut the ram into quarters, wash the entrails and legs and put them on the quarters and head.17 Then you shall cut the ram into pieces, and, having washed its intestines and feet, you shall place these upon the cut-up flesh and upon its head.
Then burn the whole ram on the altar. This wil be a burnt offering for Yahweh, a pleasing smel , afood offering burnt for Yahweh.18 And you shall offer the entire ram as a burnt offering upon the altar. It is an oblation to the Lord, a most sweet odor of the victim of the Lord.
'Next, you will take the other ram, and Aaron and his sons wil lay their hands on the ram's head.19 Likewise, you shall take the other ram, upon whose head Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands.
You wil then slaughter the ram, take some of its blood and put it on the lobe of Aaron's right ear, onthe lobes of his sons' right ears, the thumbs of their right hands, and the big toes of their right feet, and pour therest of the blood against the altar, al round.20 And when you will have immolated it, you shall take of its blood, and place it on the tip of the right ear of Aaron and his sons, and on the thumbs and big toes of their right hand and right foot, and you shall pour the blood upon the altar, all around.
You wil then take some of the blood on the altar and some of the anointing oil, and sprinkle it onAaron and his vestments and on his sons and on his sons' vestments: so that he and his vestments wil beconsecrated and his sons too, and his sons' vestments.21 And when you have taken from the blood that is on the altar, and from the oil of unction, you shall sprinkle Aaron and his vestment, his sons and their vestments. And after they and their vestments have been consecrated,
'You wil then take the fatty parts of the ram: the tail, the fat covering the entrails, the fatty mass overthe liver, the two kidneys with their covering fat and also the right thigh -- for this is a ram of investiture-22 you shall take the fat of the ram, and the rump, and the lard that covers the internal organs, and the mesh of the liver, and the two kidneys along with the fat that is on them, and the right shoulder, because it is the ram of consecration,
and a loaf of bread, a cake of bread made with oil, and a wafer, from the basket of unleavened breadbefore Yahweh,23 and one turn of bread, a crust sprinkled with oil, and a cake from the basket of unleavened bread, which was placed in the sight of the Lord.
and put it all on the palms of Aaron and his sons, and make the gesture of offering before Yahweh.24 And you shall place all these in the hands of Aaron and his sons, and you shall sanctify them, lifting them up in the sight of the Lord.
Then you wil take them back and burn them on the altar, on top of the burnt offering, as a smelpleasing before Yahweh, a food offering burnt for Yahweh.25 And you shall take all these things from their hands and burn them upon the altar as a holocaust, as a most sweet odor in the sight of the Lord, because it is his oblation.
'You wil then take the forequarters of the ram of Aaron's investiture and with it make the gesture ofoffering before Yahweh; this wil be your portion.26 Likewise, you shall take the chest of the ram, with which Aaron was initiated, and you shall sanctify it, lifting it up in the sight of the Lord, and it will fall to your share.
You wil consecrate the forequarters that have been thus offered, as also the thigh that is set aside --what has been offered and what has been set aside from the ram of investiture of Aaron and his sons.27 And you shall sanctify both the consecrated chest and the shoulder that you separated from the ram,
This, by perpetual decree, wil be the portion that Aaron and his sons wil receive from the Israelites, since it is the portion set aside, the portion set aside for Yahweh by the Israelites from their communionsacrifices: a portion set aside for Yahweh.28 with which Aaron was initiated with his sons, and these will fall to the share of Aaron and his sons, as a perpetual oath by the sons of Israel. For these are the greatest and the first of their victims of peace, which they offer to the Lord.
'Aaron's sacred vestments must pass to his sons after him, and they wil wear them for their anointingand investiture.29 But the holy vestment, which Aaron shall use, his sons shall possess after him, so that they may be anointed in it and their hands may be consecrated.
Whichever of the sons of Aaron succeeds him in the priesthood and enters the Tent of Meeting toserve in the sanctuary, wil wear them for seven days.30 For seven days, he who is high priest in his place and who enters the tabernacle of the testimony to minister in the Sanctuary shall use it.
'You wil take the ram of investiture and cook its meat in a holy place.31 But you shall take the ram of consecration and cook its flesh in the holy place.
Aaron and his sons wil eat the meat of the ram and the bread which is in the basket, at the entranceto the Tent of Meeting.32 And Aaron and his sons shall feed on it. Likewise, the loaves which are in the basket, they shall consume in the vestibule of the tabernacle of the testimony,
They will eat what was used in making expiation for them at their investiture and consecration. Nounauthorised person may eat these; they are holy things.33 so that it may be an appeasing sacrifice, and so that the hands of those who offer may be sanctified. A stranger shall not eat from these, for they are holy.
If any of the meat from the investiture sacrifice, or the bread, should be left til morning, you wil burnwhat is left. It may not be eaten; it is a holy thing.34 And what may remain until morning, of the consecrated flesh or of the bread, you shall burn these remnants with fire. These shall not be eaten, because they have been sanctified.
This is what you wil do for Aaron and his sons, implementing al the orders I have given you. You willtake seven days over their investiture.35 All that I have instructed you concerning Aaron and his sons, you shall do. For seven days shall you consecrate their hands,
'On each of the days you wil also offer a young bull as a sacrifice for sin, in expiation. You wil offer asin sacrifice for the altar when you make expiation for it; then you wil consecrate it by anointing it.36 and you shall offer a calf for sin on each day, as an atonement. And you shall cleanse the altar when you will have immolated the victim of expiation, and you shall anoint it for sanctification.
For seven days you will make expiation for the altar, then you wil consecrate it; it will then beespecial y holy, and whatever touches the altar wil become holy.37 For seven days, you shall expiate and sanctify the altar, and it shall be the Holy of holies. All those who will touch it must be sanctified.
'This is what you must offer on the altar: two yearling male lambs each day in perpetuity.38 This is what you shall acquire for the altar: Two one-year-old lambs, each day continually,
The first lamb you wil offer at dawn, and the second at twilight,39 one lamb in the morning, and the other in the evening;
and with the first lamb, one-tenth of a measure of fine flour mixed with one-quarter of a hin ofpounded olive oil and, for a libation, one-quarter of a hin of wine.40 for the one lamb, a tenth part of fine flour sprinkled with crushed oil, which shall have the measure of the fourth part of a hin, and wine for a libation, of the same measure;
The second lamb you wil offer at twilight, and do it with a similar cereal offering and libation as atdawn, as a pleasing smel , as an offering burnt for Yahweh,41 truly, the other lamb you shall offer in the evening, according to the ritual of the morning oblation, and according to what we have said, as an odor of sweetness.
a perpetual burnt offering for al your generations to come, at the entrance to the Tent of Meetingbefore Yahweh, where I shal meet you and speak to you.42 It is a sacrifice to the Lord, by a perpetual oblation among your generations, at the door of the tabernacle of the testimony before the Lord, where I resolve to speak to you.
'There I shal meet the Israelites in the place consecrated by my glory.43 And there I will instruct the sons of Israel, and the altar shall be sanctified by my glory.
I shal consecrate the Tent of Meeting and the altar; I shall also consecrate Aaron and his sons, to bepriests in my service.44 I will also sanctify the tabernacle of the testimony with the altar, and Aaron with his sons, to exercise the priesthood for me.
And I shal live with the Israelites and be their God,45 And I will live in the midst of the sons of Israel, and I will be their God.
and they wil know that I am Yahweh their God, who brought them out of Egypt to live among them: I,Yahweh their God.'46 And they shall know that I am the Lord their God, who led them away from the land of Egypt, so that I might dwell among them. I am the Lord their God.”
