'This is what you will do to them, to consecrate them to my priesthood. Take one young bull and tworams without blemish;1 "This is the rite you shall perform in consecrating them as my priests. Procure a young bull and two unblemished rams.
also unleavened bread, unleavened cakes mixed with oil, and unleavened wafers spread with oil, made from fine wheat flour,2 With fine wheat flour make unleavened cakes mixed with oil, and unleavened wafers spread with oil,
and put these into a basket and present them in the basket, at the same time as the bul and the tworams.3 and put them in a basket. Take the basket of them along with the bullock and the two rams.
'You will bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting and bathe them.4 Aaron and his sons you shall also bring to the entrance of the meeting tent, and there wash them with water.
You will then take the vestments and dress Aaron in the tunic, the robe of the ephod, the ephod, andthe breastplate, and tie the waistband of the ephod round his waist.5 Take the vestments and clothe Aaron with the tunic, the robe of the ephod, the ephod itself, and the breastpiece, fastening the embroidered belt of the ephod around him.
Then you will place the turban on his head, and on it put the symbol of holy consecration.6 Put the miter on his head, the sacred diadem on the miter.
You will then take the anointing oil and pour it on his head and so anoint him.7 Then take the anointing oil and anoint him with it, pouring it on his head.
'Next, you wil bring his sons and dress them in tunics,8 Bring forward his sons also and clothe them with the tunics,
and fasten waistbands round their waists and put the head-dresses on their heads. By perpetualdecree the priesthood will be theirs. Then you wil invest Aaron and his sons.9 gird them with the sashes, and tie the turbans on them. Thus shall the priesthood be theirs by perpetual law, and thus shall you ordain Aaron and his sons.
'You wil bring the bul in front of the Tent of Meeting, and Aaron and his sons wil lay their hands onthe bul 's head.10 "Now bring forward the bullock in front of the meeting tent. There Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands on its head.
You wil then slaughter the bull before Yahweh at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.11 Then slaughter the bullock before the LORD, at the entrance of the meeting tent.
You wil then take some of the bull's blood and with your finger put it on the horns of the altar. Next, pour out the rest of the blood at the foot of the altar.12 Take some of its blood and with your finger put it on the horns of the altar. All the rest of the blood you shall pour out at the base of the altar.
And then take al the fat covering the entrails, the fatty mass over the liver, the two kidneys with theircovering fat, and burn them on the altar.13 All the fat that covers its inner organs, as well as the lobe of its liver and its two kidneys, together with the fat that is on them, you shall take and burn on the altar.
But the young bul 's flesh, its skin and its offal, you wil burn outside the camp, for this is a sinoffering.14 But the flesh and hide and offal of the bullock you must burn up outside the camp, since this is a sin offering.
'Next, you will take one of the rams, and Aaron and his sons wil lay their hands on the ram's head.15 "Then take one of the rams, and after Aaron and his sons have laid their hands on its head,
You wil then slaughter the ram, take its blood and pour it against the altar, al round.16 slaughter it. The blood you shall take and splash on all the sides of the altar.
Next, cut the ram into quarters, wash the entrails and legs and put them on the quarters and head.17 Cut the ram into pieces; its inner organs and shanks you shall first wash, and then put them with the pieces and with the head.
Then burn the whole ram on the altar. This wil be a burnt offering for Yahweh, a pleasing smel , afood offering burnt for Yahweh.18 The entire ram shall then be burned on the altar, since it is a holocaust, a sweet-smelling oblation to the LORD.
'Next, you will take the other ram, and Aaron and his sons wil lay their hands on the ram's head.19 "After this take the other ram, and when Aaron and his sons have laid their hands on its head,
You wil then slaughter the ram, take some of its blood and put it on the lobe of Aaron's right ear, onthe lobes of his sons' right ears, the thumbs of their right hands, and the big toes of their right feet, and pour therest of the blood against the altar, al round.20 slaughter it. Some of its blood you shall take and put on the tip of Aaron's right ear and on the tips of his sons' right ears and on the thumbs of their right hands and the great toes of their right feet. Splash the rest of the blood on all the sides of the altar.
You wil then take some of the blood on the altar and some of the anointing oil, and sprinkle it onAaron and his vestments and on his sons and on his sons' vestments: so that he and his vestments wil beconsecrated and his sons too, and his sons' vestments.21 Then take some of the blood that is on the altar, together with some of the anointing oil, and sprinkle this on Aaron and his vestments, as well as on his sons and their vestments, that his sons and their vestments may be sacred.
'You wil then take the fatty parts of the ram: the tail, the fat covering the entrails, the fatty mass overthe liver, the two kidneys with their covering fat and also the right thigh -- for this is a ram of investiture-22 "Now, from this ram you shall take its fat: its fatty tail, the fat that covers its inner organs, the lobe of its liver, its two kidneys with the fat that is on them, and its right thigh, since this is the ordination ram;
and a loaf of bread, a cake of bread made with oil, and a wafer, from the basket of unleavened breadbefore Yahweh,23 then, out of the basket of unleavened food that you have set before the LORD, you shall take one of the loaves of bread, one of the cakes made with oil, and one of the wafers.
and put it all on the palms of Aaron and his sons, and make the gesture of offering before Yahweh.24 All these things you shall put into the hands of Aaron and his sons, so that they may wave them as a wave offering before the LORD.
Then you wil take them back and burn them on the altar, on top of the burnt offering, as a smelpleasing before Yahweh, a food offering burnt for Yahweh.25 After you have received them back from their hands, you shall burn them on top of the holocaust on the altar as a sweet-smelling oblation to the LORD.
'You wil then take the forequarters of the ram of Aaron's investiture and with it make the gesture ofoffering before Yahweh; this wil be your portion.26 Finally, take the breast of Aaron's ordination ram and wave it as a wave offering before the LORD; this is to be your own portion.
You wil consecrate the forequarters that have been thus offered, as also the thigh that is set aside --what has been offered and what has been set aside from the ram of investiture of Aaron and his sons.27 "Thus shall you set aside the breast of whatever wave offering is waved, as well as the thigh of whatever raised offering is raised up, whether this be the ordination ram or anything else belonging to Aaron or to his sons.
This, by perpetual decree, wil be the portion that Aaron and his sons wil receive from the Israelites, since it is the portion set aside, the portion set aside for Yahweh by the Israelites from their communionsacrifices: a portion set aside for Yahweh.28 Such things are due to Aaron and his sons from the Israelites by a perpetual ordinance as a contribution. From their peace offerings, too, the Israelites shall make a contribution, their contribution to the LORD.
'Aaron's sacred vestments must pass to his sons after him, and they wil wear them for their anointingand investiture.29 "The sacred vestments of Aaron shall be passed down to his descendants, that in them they may be anointed and ordained.
Whichever of the sons of Aaron succeeds him in the priesthood and enters the Tent of Meeting toserve in the sanctuary, wil wear them for seven days.30 The descendant who succeeds him as priest and who is to enter the meeting tent to minister in the sanctuary shall be clothed with them for seven days.
'You wil take the ram of investiture and cook its meat in a holy place.31 "You shall take the flesh of the ordination ram and boil it in a holy place.
Aaron and his sons wil eat the meat of the ram and the bread which is in the basket, at the entranceto the Tent of Meeting.32 At the entrance of the meeting tent Aaron and his sons shall eat the flesh of the ram and the bread that is in the basket.
They will eat what was used in making expiation for them at their investiture and consecration. Nounauthorised person may eat these; they are holy things.33 They themselves are to eat of these things by which atonement was made at their ordination and consecration; but no layman may eat of them, since they are sacred.
If any of the meat from the investiture sacrifice, or the bread, should be left til morning, you wil burnwhat is left. It may not be eaten; it is a holy thing.34 If some of the flesh of the ordination sacrifice or some of the bread remains over on the next day, this remnant must be burned up; it is not to be eaten, since it is sacred.
This is what you wil do for Aaron and his sons, implementing al the orders I have given you. You willtake seven days over their investiture.35 Carry out all these orders in regard to Aaron and his sons just as I have given them to you. "Seven days you shall spend in ordaining them,
'On each of the days you wil also offer a young bull as a sacrifice for sin, in expiation. You wil offer asin sacrifice for the altar when you make expiation for it; then you wil consecrate it by anointing it.36 sacrificing a bullock each day as a sin offering, to make atonement. Thus also shall you purge the altar in making atonement for it; you shall anoint it in order to consecrate it.
For seven days you will make expiation for the altar, then you wil consecrate it; it will then beespecial y holy, and whatever touches the altar wil become holy.37 Seven days you shall spend in making atonement for the altar and in consecrating it. Then the altar will be most sacred, and whatever touches it will become sacred.
'This is what you must offer on the altar: two yearling male lambs each day in perpetuity.38 "Now, this is what you shall offer on the altar: two yearling lambs as the sacrifice established for each day;
The first lamb you wil offer at dawn, and the second at twilight,39 one lamb in the morning and the other lamb at the evening twilight.
and with the first lamb, one-tenth of a measure of fine flour mixed with one-quarter of a hin ofpounded olive oil and, for a libation, one-quarter of a hin of wine.40 With the first lamb there shall be a tenth of an ephah of fine flour mixed with a fourth of a hin of oil of crushed olives and, as its libation, a fourth of a hin of wine.
The second lamb you wil offer at twilight, and do it with a similar cereal offering and libation as atdawn, as a pleasing smel , as an offering burnt for Yahweh,41 The other lamb you shall offer at the evening twilight, with the same cereal offering and libation as in the morning. You shall offer this as a sweet-smelling oblation to the LORD.
a perpetual burnt offering for al your generations to come, at the entrance to the Tent of Meetingbefore Yahweh, where I shal meet you and speak to you.42 Throughout your generations this established holocaust shall be offered before the LORD at the entrance of the meeting tent, where I will meet you and speak to you.
'There I shal meet the Israelites in the place consecrated by my glory.43 "There, at the altar, I will meet the Israelites; hence, it will be made sacred by my glory.
I shal consecrate the Tent of Meeting and the altar; I shall also consecrate Aaron and his sons, to bepriests in my service.44 Thus I will consecrate the meeting tent and the altar, just as I also consecrate Aaron and his sons to be my priests.
And I shal live with the Israelites and be their God,45 I will dwell in the midst of the Israelites and will be their God.
and they wil know that I am Yahweh their God, who brought them out of Egypt to live among them: I,Yahweh their God.'46 They shall know that I, the LORD, am their God who brought them out of the land of Egypt, so that I, the LORD, their God, might dwell among them.
