NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 It was the twelfth year of Nebuchadnezzar who reigned over the Assyrians in the great city of Nineveh.Arphaxad was then reigning over the Medes in Ecbatana.	1 Era el año duodécimo del reinado de Nabucodonosor, que gobernó a los asirios en la gran ciudad de Nínive, mientras Arfaxad reinaba sobre los medos en Ecbátana.
2 He surrounded this city with walls of dressed stones three cubits thick and six cubits long, making therampart seventy cubits high and fifty cubits wide.	2 Este había construido alrededor de Ecbátana una muralla de piedras talladas que medían un metro y medio de ancho y tres de largo. La muralla tenía treinta y cinco metros de altura y veinticinco de espesor.
3 At the gates he placed towers one hundred cubits high and, at the foundations, sixty cubits wide,	3 También había erigido junto a sus puertas unas torres de cincuenta metros de alto, sobre cimientos de treinta metros de ancho;
4 the gates themselves being seventy cubits high and forty wide to al ow his forces to march out in a bodyand his infantry to parade freely.	4 y había hecho levantar sus puertas hasta una altura de treinta y cinco metros, por veinte de ancho, para que pudiera pasar su poderoso ejército y desfilar su infantería.
5 About this time King Nebuchadnezzar gave battle to King Arphaxad in the great plain lying in the territoryof Ragae.	5 En aquellos días, el rey Nabucodonosor declaró la guerra al rey Arfaxad en la gran llanura, la que se extiende sobre el territorio de Ragau.
6 Supporting him were al the peoples from the highlands, all from the Euphrates and Tigris andHydaspes, and those from the plains who were subject to Arioch, king of the Elymaeans. 7 Nebuchadnezzar king of the Assyrians sent a message to al the inhabitants of Persia, to all theinhabitants of the western countries, Cilicia, Damascus, Lebanon, Anti-Lebanon, to al those along the coast,	7 Entonces Nabucodonosor, rey de los asirios, envió mensajeros a todos los habitantes de Persia y a todos los que residían en Occidente: a los de Cilicia y Damasco, del Líbano y el Antilíbano, y a todos los que vivían en el litoral;
8 to the peoples of Carmel, Gilead, Upper Galilee, the great plain of Esdraelon,	8 a las poblaciones del Carmelo y Galaad; a la Galilea superior y a la gran llanura de Esdrelón,
9 to the people of Samaria and its outlying towns, to those beyond Jordan, as far away as Jerusalem,Bethany, Chelous, Kadesh, the river of Egypt, Tahpanhes, Rameses and the whole territory of Goshen,	9 así como también a todos los que habitaban en la Samaría y sus ciudades; a los del otro lado del Jordán, hasta Jerusalén, Betané, Jelús y Cades; y más allá del Torrente de Egipto, a Tafne y Ramsés, lo mismo que a todo el territorio de Gesén,
10 beyond Tanis too and Memphis, and to al the inhabitants of Egypt as far as the frontiers of Ethiopia.	10 hasta más arriba de Tanis y Menfis; y a todos los habitantes de Egipto, hasta los confines de Etiopía.
11 But the inhabitants of these countries ignored the summons of Nebuchadnezzar king of the Assyriansand did not ral y to him to make war. They were not afraid of him, since in their view he appeared isolated.Hence they sent his ambassadors back with nothing achieved and in disgrace.	11 Pero los habitantes de todas esas regiones, sin excepción, despreciaron el llamado de Nabucodonosor, rey de los asirios, y no se aliaron con él para la guerra, porque no le tenían, sino que lo consideraban como un hombre falto de apoyo. Por eso despidieron despectivamente a sus emisarios con las manos vacías.
12 Nebuchadnezzar was furious with al these countries. He swore by his throne and kingdom to takerevenge on al the territories of Cilicia, Damascus and Syria, of the Moabites and of the Ammonites, of Judaeaand Egypt as far as the limits of the two seas, and to ravage them with the sword.	12 Nabucodonosor se enfureció contra todas aquellas regiones y juró por su trono y por su reino vengarse de todo el territorio de Cilicia, la Damascena y Siria y destruir con su espada a todos los habitantes de Moab, a los amonitas y a todas la Judea, así como también, a todos los habitantes de Egipto, hasta la región de los dos mares.
13 In the seventeenth year, he gave battle with his whole army to King Arphaxad and in this battledefeated him. He routed Arphaxad's entire army and al his cavalry and chariots;	13 El año decimoséptimo, Nabucodonosor atacó con su ejército al rey Arfaxad y, después de derrotarlo, aniquiló todo su ejército, su caballería y sus carros de guerra.
14 he occupied his towns and advanced on Ecbatana; he seized its towers and plundered its marketplaces, reducing its former magnificence to a mockery.	14 Se apoderó de sus ciudades, avanzó hasta Ecbátana, expugnó sus torres, destruyó sus plazas y convirtió su esplendor en ignominia.
15 He later captured Arphaxad in the mountains of Ragae and, thrusting him through with his spears,destroyed him once and for al .	15 Además, hizo prisionero a Arfaxad en las montañas de Ragau, lo acribilló con sus jabalinas, y lo aniquiló para siempre.
16 He then retired with his troops and al who had joined forces with him: a vast horde of armed men.Then he and his army gave themselves up to carefree feasting for a hundred and twenty days.	16 Finalmente, regresó con sus tropas y con la enorme multitud de guerreros que lo habían seguido, y todos se entregaron despreocupadamente a la buena vida durante ciento veinte días.
