Ezra 7

1 After these events, in the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra son of Seraiah, son of Azariah, son ofHilkiah,	1 Dopo questi avvenimenti, sotto il regno di Artaserse, re di Persia, Esdra, figlio di Seraia, figlio di Azaria, figlio di Chelkia,
2 son of Shallum, son of Zadok, son of Ahitub,	2 figlio di Sallùm, figlio di Zadòk, figlio di Achitùb,
3 son of Amariah, son of Azariah, son of Meraioth,	3 figlio di Amaria, figlio di Azaria, figlio di Meraiot,
4 son of Zerahiah, son of Uzzi, son of Bukki,	4 figlio di Zerachia, figlio di Uzzi, figlio di Bukki,
5 son of Abishua, son of Phinehas, son of Eleazar, son of the chief priest Aaron-	5 figlio di Abisua, figlio di Finees, figlio di Eleazaro, figlio di Aronne, sommo sacerdote;
6 this Ezra came up from Babylon. He was a scribe versed in the Law of Moses, which Yahweh, God ofIsrael, had given. The king gave him everything that he asked for, since the hand of Yahweh his God was overhim.	6 Esdra salì a Gerusalemme da Babilonia. Era uno scriba esperto nella legge di Mosè che il Signore, Dio d'Israele, aveva dato. Il re gli concesse tutto quanto egli chiese, perché la mano del Signore, suo Dio, era sopra di lui.
7 A number of Israelites, priests, Levites, singers, gatekeepers and temple slaves went up to Jerusalem inthe seventh year of the reign of King Artaxerxes.	7 Nel settimo anno del re Artaserse, partirono per Gerusalemme anche alcuni dei figli d'Israele, sacerdoti, leviti, cantori, portinai e oblati.
8 Ezra arrived in Jerusalem in the fifth month, in the seventh year of the king's reign;	8 Egli arrivò a Gerusalemme nel quinto mese: era l'anno settimo del re.
9 for he had ordered the departure from Babylon on the first day of the first month, and he arrived inJerusalem on the first day of the fifth month, since the kindly hand of his God was over him.	9 Il primo giorno del primo mese era stato l'inizio del viaggio da Babilonia, e il primo giorno del quinto mese egli arrivò a Gerusalemme, poiché la mano benevola del suo Dio era sopra di lui.

11 This is the text of the document which King Artaxerxes gave to Ezra, the priest-scribe, a student ofmatters pertaining to Yahweh's commandments and statutes relating to Israel:	11 Ecco la copia della lettera che il re Artaserse dette ad Esdra, sacerdote e scriba, esperto nei comandamenti pronunciati dal Signore e nei precetti suoi per Israele:
12 'Artaxerxes, king of kings, to the priest Ezra, Secretary of the Law of the God of heaven: greetings!	12 "Artaserse, re dei re, a Esdra, sacerdote e scriba della legge del Dio del cielo. Salute, eccetera.
13 'Now here are my orders. Al members of the people of Israel in my kingdom, including their priests andLevites, who freely choose to go to Jerusalem, may go with you,	13 Si dà ordine da parte mia che vengano assieme a te tutti coloro che desiderano andare a Gerusalemme, fra il popolo d'Israele, i suoi sacerdoti e leviti nel mio regno.
14 for you are being sent by the king and his seven counsel ors to investigate how the Law of your God, inwhich you are expert, is being applied in Judah and Jerusalem,	14 Tu sei inviato da parte del re e dei suoi sette consiglieri per una inchiesta su Giuda e Gerusalemme, secondo la legge del tuo Dio, che è nelle tue mani;
15 and to transport the silver and gold which the king and his counsel ors have voluntarily offered to theGod of Israel who resides in Jerusalem,	15 per portare l'argento e l'oro che il re e i suoi consiglieri hanno spontaneamente offerto al Dio d'Israele, la cui dimora è a Gerusalemme;
16 as wel as all the silver and gold which you receive throughout the province of Babylon and thevoluntary offerings freely contributed by the people and the priests for the Temple of their God in Jerusalem.	16 e tutto l'argento e l'oro che potrai trovare nell'intera provincia di Babilonia, assieme all'offerta volontaria del popolo e dei sacerdoti, donata per la casa del loro Dio, che è a Gerusalemme.
17 'This money you wil punctiliously use for the purchase of bul s, rams, lambs and the materials for theoblations and libations which go with them, offering these on the altar of the Temple of your God in Jerusalem,	17 Con questo denaro tu avrai cura di comperare tori, montoni, agnelli e le loro oblazioni e libazioni, e li offrirai sull'altare della casa del vostro Dio, che è a Gerusalemme.
18 and using the remainder of the silver and gold in accordance with the wil of your God as you and yourbrothers may think fit.	18 Quanto al rimanente argento e oro, farete quello che a te e ai tuoi fratelli sembrerà bene, secondo la volontà del vostro Dio.
19 'You wil deliver the articles which have been given you for the ministry of the Temple of your God, tothe God of Jerusalem,	19 Gli utensili che ti saranno dati per il servizio della casa del tuo Dio, riponili davanti al Dio di Gerusalemme.
20 and whatever else is needed and you are obliged to supply for the Temple of your God, you will supplyfrom the royal treasury.	20 Il rimanente fabbisogno della casa del tuo Dio, che compete a te di fornire, lo provvederai a spese del tesoro reale.
21 'I, King Artaxerxes, have issued the fol owing instruction to all the treasurers of Transeuphrates:Whatever the priest Ezra, Secretary of the Law of the God of heaven, may request of you is to be punctiliouslycomplied with:	21 Viene dato ordine da me, re Artaserse, a tutti i tesorieri dell'Oltrefiume: tutto ciò che vi comanderà Esdra, sacerdote, scriba della legge del Dio del cielo, eseguitelo puntualmente,
22 up to one hundred talents of silver, one hundred kor of wheat, one hundred bat of wine, one hundred bat of oil, and unlimited salt.	22 fino a cento talenti d'argento, cento kor di grano, cento bat di vino, cento bat di olio e sale senza limitazioni.
23 Whatever the God of heaven demands for the Temple of the God of heaven must be diligentlyprovided; why should retribution come on the realm of the king and of his sons?	23 Tutto ciò che viene da un ordine del Dio del cielo, venga eseguito diligentemente per la casa del Dio del cielo, affinché non venga la collera sul regno, sul re e sui suoi figli.
24 You are further informed that it is against the law to impose tribute, tax or tol on any of the priests,Levites, singers, gatekeepers, temple slaves or other servants of this temple of God.	24 Inoltre vi rendiamo noto che non è permesso prelevare tributo, imposta o pedaggio da nessuno dei sacerdoti, leviti, cantori, portinai, oblati e servi di questa casa di Dio.
25 'And you, Ezra, by virtue of the wisdom of your God, which you possess, are to appoint magistratesand scribes to administer justice for the whole people of Transeuphrates, that is, for all who know the Law ofyour God; and you are to teach it to those who do not know it.	25 E tu, o Esdra, secondo la sapienza del tuo Dio, che tu possiedi, stabilisci magistrati e giudici che amministrino la giustizia per tutto il popolo dell'Oltrefiume, cioè a tutti coloro che conoscono i decreti del tuo Dio. A chi non li conosce, voi li insegnerete.
26 And on anyone who wil not comply with the Law of your God and the Law of the king let sentence beswiftly executed, whether it be death, banishment, fine or imprisonment.'	26 Di quanti poi non osservassero il decreto del tuo Dio e il decreto del re, sia fatta rigorosa giustizia: con la morte o con il bando o con la confisca dei beni o con la prigione!".
27 Blessed be Yahweh, God of our ancestors, who moved the king's heart in this way to restore thebeauty of the Temple of Yahweh in Jerusalem,	27 Benedetto il Signore, Dio dei nostri padri, che a un tale re ha messo in cuore di onorare la casa del Signore che è a Gerusalemme,
28 won for me the faithful love of the king, his counsel ors and al the most powerful of the king's officials!Taking heart since the hand of Yahweh my God was over me, I assembled those Israelite heads of families whowere to go with me.	28 e mi ha fatto trovare benevolenza presso il re e i suoi consiglieri e tutti i più potenti prìncipi reali! Così presi coraggio, perché la mano del Signore mio Dio era su di me, e radunai i capi d'Israele, affinché partissero insieme con me.
