NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 When Solomon had finished his prayer, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offeringand the sacrifices; and the glory of Yahweh filled the Temple.	1 Quando Salomone ebbe finito di fare le sue preghiere, cadde il fuoco dal cielo, e divorò gli olocausti e le vittime, e la maestà del Signore riempì la casa;
2 The priests could not enter the Temple of Yahweh, because the glory of Yahweh fil ed the Temple ofYahweh.	2 I sacerdoti non potevano entrare nel tempio del Signore, perchè la maestà del Signore aveva riempito il tempio del Signore.
3 When all the Israelites saw the fire come down and the glory of Yahweh resting on the Temple, theybowed down on the pavement with their faces to the earth, worshipping and praising Yahweh with 'For he isgood, for his faithful love lasts for ever!'	3 Tutti i figli d'Israele, veduto scendere il fuoco e la gloria del Si­gnore sopra la casa, si prostraron bocconi per terra sopra il pavimento lastricato di pietra, e adorarono e lodarono Dio: Perchè egli è buono e perchè la sua misericordia è eterna.
4 Then the king and all the people offered sacrifices before Yahweh.	4 Il re e tutto il popolo immolavano vittime davanti al Si­gnore.
5 King Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty-two thousand oxen and a hundred and twenty thousandsheep; and thus the king and al the people dedicated the Temple of God.	5 Il re Salomone scannò come vittime ventidue mila buoi e centoventi mila arieti, e così il re con tutto il popolo dedicò la casa di Dio.
6 The priests stood in their places, as did the Levites with Yahweh's musical instruments which KingDavid had provided, to render 'Give thanks to Yahweh, for his faithful love lasts for ever!' whenever David offeredpraise to their accompaniment. Opposite them, the priests blew trumpets, while al Israel stood.	6 I sacerdoti attendevano ai loro uffici, i leviti agli strumenti musicali, dei canti del Signore, fatti da David per lodare il Signore: Perchè la sua misericordia è eterna, e cantavano gli inni di David sui loro strumenti, mentre i sacerdoti sonavano le trombe di faccia ad essi, e tutto Israele stava in piedi.
7 Solomon also consecrated the middle part of the court in front of the Temple of Yahweh; for that waswhere he presented the burnt offerings and the fatty parts of the communion sacrifices, since the bronze altarwhich Solomon had made could not hold the burnt offering, the oblation and the fatty parts.	7 Salomone consacrò anche il mezzo dell'atrio, dinanzi al tempio del Signore, ove aveva offerti gli olocausti e il grasso delle ostie pacifiche, perchè l'altare di rame, da lui fatto, non poteva contenere gli olocausti, i sacrifizi e i grassi:
8 And then Solomon and with him al Israel from the Pass of Hamath to the Torrent of Egypt -- a verygreat assembly -- celebrated the feast for seven days.	8 in quel tempo Salomone celebrò la festa per sette giorni con tutto Israele, assemblea grandissima venuta dal l'entrata di Emat fino al torrente d'Egitto.
9 On the eighth day they held the assembly, for they had devoted seven days to the dedication of thealtar and seven days to the feast.	9 L'ottavo giorno fece una riunione, perchè aveva dedicato l'altare durante sette giorni, ed aveva celebrata la festa per sette giorni.
10 On the twenty-third day of the seventh month Solomon dismissed the people to their homes, rejoicingand happy of heart over the goodness which Yahweh had shown to David, to Solomon and to his people Israel.	10 Poi ai ventitré del settimo mese, rimandò alle sue tende il popolo lieto e pieno di giubilo per il bene che il Signore aveva fatto a David, a Salomone e al suo popolo Israele.
11 Thus Solomon finished the Temple of Yahweh and the royal palace, and he successful y concludedeverything that he was of a mind to do in the Temple of Yahweh and in his own palace.	11 Salomone condusse a fine la casa del Signore, la casa del re, e tutto quello che aveva proposto nel cuore di fare nella casa del Signore e nella sua. E prosperò.
12 Then Yahweh appeared to Solomon in the night and said, 'I have heard your prayer and have chosenthis place for myself as a house of sacrifice.	12 Il Signore gli apparve di notte e disse: « Ho udita la tua orazione, mi sono scelto questo luogo come casa di sacrifizio.
13 If I shut the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the country, or if Isend pestilence among my people,	13 Se io chiuderò il cielo e non cadrà pioggia, se comanderò e ordinerò alle locuste di divorar la terra, se manderò la pestilenza nel mio popolo,
14 if my people who bear my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my presence and turn fromtheir wicked ways, then I wil listen from heaven and forgive their sins and restore their country.	14 quando il mio popolo, sul quale fu invocato il mio nome, si converta, mi preghi, cerchi la mia faccia, e faccia penitenza del suo agire pessimo, io li esaudirò dal cielo, sarò propizio ai loro peccati, sanerò il loro paese.
15 Now and for the future my eyes are open and my ears attentive to prayer offered in this place,	15 Inoltre i miei occhi saranno aperti, le mie orecchie intente alla preghiera di chiunque m'invocherà in questo luogo:
16 for now I have chosen and consecrated this Temple, for my name to be there for ever; my eyes andmy heart will constantly be there.	16 infatti l'ho eletto e santificato, perchè vi sia in eterno il mio nome e vi dimorino per sempre i miei occhi e il mio cuore.
17 And if, for your part, you walk before me as your father David did, and do everything that I havecommanded you to do, and keep my laws and my ordinances,	17 Riguardo a te, se camminerai dinanzi a me come camminò David tuo padre, se farai secondo tutto quello che io ti ho comandato, e se osserverai le mie leggi e i miei precetti,
18 I shal make your royal throne secure, as I covenanted with your father David when I said: You willnever lack for a male to rule in Israel.	18 io stabilirò il trono del tuo regno, come promisi a David tuo padre, dicendo: Non mancherà della tua stirpe un uomo che sia principe in Israele.
19 But if you turn away and forsake my laws and commandments which I have laid down for you, and goand serve other gods and worship them,	19 Ma se voi, rivolgendovi indietro e abbandonando le mie leggi e i miei precetti da me proposti, andrete a servire gli dèi stranieri, ad adorarli.
20 then I shall uproot them from the country which I have given them, and shall disown this Temple whichI have consecrated for my name and make it a proverb and a byword among all the peoples.	20 Io vi estirperò dalla mia terra che vi diedi; questa casa, che consacrai al mio nome, la rigetterò dal mio cospetto, l'abbandonerò in proverbio ed esempio di tutti i popoli.
21 And at this once-exalted Temple, everyone who passes by wil be appal ed, and wil say, "Why hasYahweh treated this country and this Temple like this?"	21 Questa casa sarà lo scherno di tutti quelli che passano, i quali con stupore diranno: Perchè il Signore ha fatto così a questo paese e a questa casa?
22 And the answer will be, "Because they deserted Yahweh, the God of their ancestors, who broughtthem out of Egypt, and adopted other gods and worshipped and served them; that is why he has brought althese disasters on them." '	22 Sarà loro risposto: Perchè hanno abbandonato il Si­gnore Dio dei loro padri, che li trasse dall'Egitto, ed hanno abbracciati, adorati, onorati gli dèi stranieri: per questo son caduti sopra di essi tutti questi mali ».
