NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 When Solomon had finished his prayer, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offeringand the sacrifices; and the glory of Yahweh filled the Temple.	1 Quando Salomone ebbe finito di pregare, dal cielo cadde il fuoco che consumò l'olocausto e i sacrifici, mentre la Gloria del Signore riempì il tempio.
2 The priests could not enter the Temple of Yahweh, because the glory of Yahweh fil ed the Temple ofYahweh.	2 I sacerdoti non potevano entrare nel tempio del Signore, perché la Gloria del Signore aveva riempito il tempio.
3 When all the Israelites saw the fire come down and the glory of Yahweh resting on the Temple, theybowed down on the pavement with their faces to the earth, worshipping and praising Yahweh with 'For he isgood, for his faithful love lasts for ever!'	3 Tutti gl'Israeliti, quando videro discendere il fuoco e la Gloria del Signore posarsi sul tempio, si prostrarono con la faccia a terra, sul pavimento, adorarono e lodarono il Signore, "perché eterna è la sua bontà".
4 Then the king and all the people offered sacrifices before Yahweh.	4 Il re e tutto il popolo offrirono sacrifici al cospetto del Signore.
5 King Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty-two thousand oxen and a hundred and twenty thousandsheep; and thus the king and al the people dedicated the Temple of God.	5 Il re Salomone offrì in sacrificio ventiduemila buoi e centoventimila pecore; così il re e tutto il popolo dedicarono il tempio di Dio.
6 The priests stood in their places, as did the Levites with Yahweh's musical instruments which KingDavid had provided, to render 'Give thanks to Yahweh, for his faithful love lasts for ever!' whenever David offeredpraise to their accompaniment. Opposite them, the priests blew trumpets, while al Israel stood.	6 I sacerdoti si tenevano ai loro posti, mentre i leviti con gli strumenti di musica sacra, fatti dal re Davide, lodavano il Signore, "perché eterna è la sua bontà". Così Davide inneggiava per mezzo loro. I sacerdoti suonavano le trombe di fronte ad essi, mentre tutti gl'Israeliti stavano in piedi.
7 Solomon also consecrated the middle part of the court in front of the Temple of Yahweh; for that waswhere he presented the burnt offerings and the fatty parts of the communion sacrifices, since the bronze altarwhich Solomon had made could not hold the burnt offering, the oblation and the fatty parts.	7 Salomone consacrò il cortile interno di fronte al tempio del Signore; ivi infatti egli offrì gli olocausti e il grasso dei sacrifici pacifici, perché l'altare di bronzo eretto da Salomone non poteva contenere gli olocausti, le oblazioni e i grassi.
8 And then Solomon and with him al Israel from the Pass of Hamath to the Torrent of Egypt -- a verygreat assembly -- celebrated the feast for seven days.	8 In quel tempo Salomone celebrò la festa per sette giorni, insieme a tutto Israele, un'assemblea imponente convenuta dall'ingresso di Camat fino al torrente d'Egitto.
9 On the eighth day they held the assembly, for they had devoted seven days to the dedication of thealtar and seven days to the feast.	9 All'ottavo giorno si tenne un'assemblea solenne, perché la dedicazione dell'altare era durata sette giorni e anche la festa era durata sette giorni.
10 On the twenty-third day of the seventh month Solomon dismissed the people to their homes, rejoicingand happy of heart over the goodness which Yahweh had shown to David, to Solomon and to his people Israel.	10 Nel ventitreesimo giorno del settimo mese Salomone rinviò il popolo nelle sue tende, giulivo e soddisfatto nel cuore per il bene che il Signore aveva concesso a Davide, a Salomone e a Israele, suo popolo.
11 Thus Solomon finished the Temple of Yahweh and the royal palace, and he successful y concludedeverything that he was of a mind to do in the Temple of Yahweh and in his own palace.	11 Salomone terminò il tempio del Signore ed il palazzo reale riuscendo ad attuare tutto ciò che aveva in mente di fare nel tempio del Signore e nel suo palazzo.
12 Then Yahweh appeared to Solomon in the night and said, 'I have heard your prayer and have chosenthis place for myself as a house of sacrifice.	12 Allora il Signore apparve a Salomone di notte e gli disse: "Ho esaudito la tua preghiera e mi sono scelto questo luogo come casa di sacrifici.
13 If I shut the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the country, or if Isend pestilence among my people,	13 Se chiuderò il cielo e non vi sarà pioggia, se ordinerò alle cavallette di divorare il paese, se invierò la peste fra il mio popolo,
14 if my people who bear my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my presence and turn fromtheir wicked ways, then I wil listen from heaven and forgive their sins and restore their country.	14 se il mio popolo, sul quale è stato invocato il mio nome, si umilia, prega e ricerca il mio volto e si converte dalle sue vie malvagie, io ascolterò dal cielo, perdonerò il suo peccato e risanerò la sua campagna.
15 Now and for the future my eyes are open and my ears attentive to prayer offered in this place,	15 Ora i miei occhi saranno aperti e le mie orecchie intente alla preghiera fatta in questo luogo.
16 for now I have chosen and consecrated this Temple, for my name to be there for ever; my eyes andmy heart will constantly be there.	16 Ormai ho scelto e ho santificato questo tempio, perché il mio nome vi rimanga per sempre. I miei occhi e il mio cuore saranno lì per sempre.
17 And if, for your part, you walk before me as your father David did, and do everything that I havecommanded you to do, and keep my laws and my ordinances,	17 Quanto a te, se camminerai al mio cospetto, come ha camminato Davide, tuo padre, facendo tutto ciò che ti ho comandato e osservando i miei precetti e i miei decreti,
18 I shal make your royal throne secure, as I covenanted with your father David when I said: You willnever lack for a male to rule in Israel.	18 renderò stabile il trono del tuo regno secondo quanto ho stabilito con Davide, tuo padre, dicendo: "Non ti mancherà un discendente che domini su Israele".
19 But if you turn away and forsake my laws and commandments which I have laid down for you, and goand serve other gods and worship them,	19 Ma se voi vi volgerete indietro, abbandonerete i miei precetti e i miei comandamenti che vi ho proposto, e andrete a servire gli dèi stranieri e vi prostrerete davanti ad essi,
20 then I shall uproot them from the country which I have given them, and shall disown this Temple whichI have consecrated for my name and make it a proverb and a byword among all the peoples.	20 vi sterminerò dalla mia terra che vi ho dato e rigetterò dal mio cospetto questo tempio che ho consacrato al mio nome e lo farò diventare una favola e un oggetto di scherno fra tutti i popoli.
21 And at this once-exalted Temple, everyone who passes by wil be appal ed, and wil say, "Why hasYahweh treated this country and this Temple like this?"	21 Quanto a questo tempio, già così eccelso, chiunque passerà accanto rimarrà stupito e dirà: "Perché il Signore ha agito così con questo paese e con questo tempio?".
22 And the answer will be, "Because they deserted Yahweh, the God of their ancestors, who broughtthem out of Egypt, and adopted other gods and worshipped and served them; that is why he has brought althese disasters on them." '	22 Si risponderà: "Perché hanno abbandonato il Signore, il Dio dei loro padri, che li ha fatti uscire dal paese d'Egitto, e hanno aderito a dèi stranieri, prostrandosi davanti a loro e servendoli. Per questo egli ha fatto venire su di loro tutta questa sventura".
