NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 And Solomon allocated seventy thousand men to be porters and eighty thousand to quarry in the hillsand three thousand six hundred overseers for them.	1 Salomone decise di costruire tu la casa al nome del Signore e un palazzo per sè, e
2 And Solomon sent this message to Huram king of Tyre, 'Do as you did for my father David when yousent him cedars for him to build himself a palace to live in.	2 arruolò settanta mila uomini da portar pesi, ottanta mila per tagliar pietre sulle montagne, tre mila seicento per sorvegliarli.
3 You see, I am building a house for the name of Yahweh my God, to acknowledge his holiness so thatperfumed incense may be burnt before him, the loaves of permanent offering be perpetual y laid out and theburnt offerings be made morning and evening, on the Sabbaths, New Moons and solemn festivals of Yahwehour God, as prescribed to Israel for ever;	3 Poi mandò a dire a Hiram re di Tiro: « Come facesti con David mio padre, al quale mandasti legnami di cedro per fabbricarsi la casa ove egli abitò,
4 and the house which I am building must be large, for our God is greater than al gods;	4 fa lo stesso con me, affinchè possa edificare una casa al nome del Signore Dio mio e la consacri per bruciar incenso dinanzi a lui e farvi fumigar gli aromi, per esporvi in perpetuo i pani e offrirvi olocausti la mattina, la sera, nei sabati, nei noviluni, nelle solennità del Signore Dio nostro in sempiterno, come fu ordinato a Israele.
5 even so, who would not find it an impossible task to build a house for him, when the heavens and theheavens of the heavens cannot contain him? And who am I to build a house for him except to burn incensebefore him?	5 Or la casa che bramo edificare è grande, perchè grande sopra tutti gli dèi è il nostro Dio.
6 So now send me a man skil ed at working in gold, silver, bronze, iron, scarlet, crimson and violetmaterials, and who knows the art of engraving too; he is to work with my skil ed men in Judah and Jerusalem,whom my father David has provided.	6 Ma chi potrà esser da tanto da edificargli una casa degna di lui? Se il cielo e i cieli dei cieli non possono contenerlo, chi son io da potergli edificare una casa? Ma è solo per bruciare incenso davanti a lui.
7 Also send me cedar, juniper and algum trunks from the Lebanon, for I know that your servants knowthe art of fel ing timber in the Lebanon. And, my servants will work with your servants	7 Mandami adunque un uomo intelligente che sappia lavorare l'oro, l'argento, il rame, il ferro, la porpora, lo scarlatto, il giacinto e sappia far cesellature cogli artefici che io ho a mia disposizione nella Giudea e in Gerusalemme e che David mio padre ha preparati.
8 in preparing a vast quantity of timber for me, since the house which I intend to build is to be of a size tomarvel at.	8 Mandami anche del legname di cedro, di abete e di pino dal Libano, chè so bene come i tuoi servi san tagliare il legname del Libano. I miei servi saranno coi tuoi,
9 Furthermore, for the upkeep of the woodcutters whom you employ to cut the timber, I shal providetwenty thousand kor of wheat, twenty thousand kor of barley, twenty thousand bat of wine and twenty thousandbat of oil.'	9 a prepararmi legname in quantità: perchè la casa che bramo costruire è grandissima e magnifica.
10 In a letter sent to King Solomon, Huram king of Tyre replied, 'Because Yahweh loves his people hehas made you their king!'	10 Agli operai tuoi servi che taglieranno il legname io darò come vitto venti mila cori di grano, altrettanti di orzo, venti mila metrete di vino e venti mila sati di olio ».
11 Huram went on to say, 'Praised be Yahweh, God of Israel, who made heaven and earth and has givenKing David a wise son, endowed with discretion and discernment, to build a house for Yahweh and a palace inwhich to reign!-	11 Hiram re di Tiro rispose nella lettera che mandò a Salomone: « Il Signore ha amato il suo popolo, per questo ti ha fatto re sopra di esso ».
12 I am now sending you a skil ed and intelligent man, Huram-Abi	12 E aggiunse: « Benedetto sia il Signore Dio d'Israele, creatore del cielo e della terra, il quale ha dato al re David un figlio sapiente, abile, sensato e prudente per edificare una casa al Signore e un palazzo per sè.
13 the son of a Danite woman by a Tyrian father. He knows the arts of working in gold, silver, bronze,iron, stone, wood, scarlet, violet, fine linen and crimson materials, and is competent to carry out any kind ofengraving and to execute any design which may be entrusted to him, in col aboration with your skilled men andthose of my lord David, your father.	13 Ti ho dunque mandato un uomo prudente e di grandissima capacità. Hiram mio padre,
14 'So now let my lord send his servants the wheat, barley, oil and wine as promised	14 fi­glio d'una donna delle figlie di Dan, e di un padre di Tiro, il qua­le sa lavorare in oro, in argento, in rame, in ferro, in marmo, in legno, ed anche in porpora, in giacinto, in bisso, in scarlatto; sa fare ogni sorta d'intagli e inventare ingegnosamente tutto quello che occorre per qualsiasi lavoro: egli starà coi tuoi artefici e con quelli del mio signore David tuo padre.
15 and we wil fel all the wood you need from Lebanon, and bring it you in rafts by sea to Jaffa; and it wilbe your responsibility to transport it to Jerusalem.'	15 Manda adunque, signore mio, ai tuoi servi, il grano, l'orzo, l'olio e il vino che hai promesso,
16 Solomon then took a census of al the aliens resident in Israel similar to the census which his fatherDavid had taken; it was found that there were a hundred and fifty-three thousand six hundred.	16 e noi taglieremo legname del Libano quanto ne hai bisogno, e su zattere lo condurremo per mare a loppe e poi starà a te trasportarlo a Gerusa­lemme ».
17 He impressed seventy thousand of them as porters, eighty thousand as quarrymen in the hil s andthree thousand six hundred as overseers to make sure the people worked.	17 Salomone adunque fece fare il conto di tutti gli uomini proseliti che erano nel paese d'Israele già numerati da David suo padre, e ne furono trovati centocinquantatrè mila seicento.
	18 Ne scelse settanta mila per portare pesi sulle spalle, ottanta mila per tagliare pietre sulle montagne, e tre mila seicento per sorvegliare i lavori di questa gente.
