NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 And Solomon allocated seventy thousand men to be porters and eighty thousand to quarry in the hillsand three thousand six hundred overseers for them.	1 - Decretò allora Salomone di edificare una casa al nome del Signore e un palazzo per sè,
2 And Solomon sent this message to Huram king of Tyre, 'Do as you did for my father David when yousent him cedars for him to build himself a palace to live in.	2 destinando settantamila uomini a portar pesi e ottantamila a cavar pietre nella montagna, sotto la sorveglianza di tremilaseicento uomini.
3 You see, I am building a house for the name of Yahweh my God, to acknowledge his holiness so thatperfumed incense may be burnt before him, the loaves of permanent offering be perpetual y laid out and theburnt offerings be made morning and evening, on the Sabbaths, New Moons and solemn festivals of Yahwehour God, as prescribed to Israel for ever;	3 Mandò parimenti da Iram, re di Tiro, per dirgli: «Quel che hai fatto con Davide, padre mio, al quale mandasti legname di cedro per edificarsi la casa dove abitare,
4 and the house which I am building must be large, for our God is greater than al gods;	4 fallo anche con me, affinchè io possa costruire una casa al nome del Signore mio Dio e consacrargliela per bruciarvi incenso dinanzi a lui e spargervi il profumo degli aromi, per esporvi perennemente i pani e per immolarvi olocausti mattina e sera, nei sabati, nelle neomenie e nelle solennità del Signore Iddio nostro in sempiterno, come fu comandato ad Israele.
5 even so, who would not find it an impossible task to build a house for him, when the heavens and theheavens of the heavens cannot contain him? And who am I to build a house for him except to burn incensebefore him?	5 Poichè la casa, che bramo edificare, è grande e grande più di tutti gli dèi è il Signore Dio nostro.
6 So now send me a man skil ed at working in gold, silver, bronze, iron, scarlet, crimson and violetmaterials, and who knows the art of engraving too; he is to work with my skil ed men in Judah and Jerusalem,whom my father David has provided.	6 Chi dunque sarà da tanto da edificargli una casa degna? Se il cielo e il cielo dei cieli non valgono a contenerlo, chi sono io mai da poter edificargli una casa? Ma essa non servirà che a bruciarvi incenso dinanzi a lui.
7 Also send me cedar, juniper and algum trunks from the Lebanon, for I know that your servants knowthe art of fel ing timber in the Lebanon. And, my servants will work with your servants	7 Mandami perciò un uomo valente, capace di lavorare l'oro, l'argento, il rame, il ferro, la porpora, lo scarlatto ed il giacinto, abile di fare lavori d'intaglio, valendosi degli artigiani che sono con me in Giudea e in Gerusalemme, raccolti da Davide, mio padre.
8 in preparing a vast quantity of timber for me, since the house which I intend to build is to be of a size tomarvel at.	8 Mandami in pari tempo legname di cedro, di cipresso e di pino dal Libano, poichè so che i tuoi servi sono abili nel tagliar le legna del Libano. I miei servi saranno coi tuoi servi,
9 Furthermore, for the upkeep of the woodcutters whom you employ to cut the timber, I shal providetwenty thousand kor of wheat, twenty thousand kor of barley, twenty thousand bat of wine and twenty thousandbat of oil.'	9 per prepararmi gran quantità di legname, perchè la casa ch'io bramo edificare è assai grande e magnifica.
10 In a letter sent to King Solomon, Huram king of Tyre replied, 'Because Yahweh loves his people hehas made you their king!'	10 Inoltre agli operai tuoi servi, che taglieranno le legna, io darò per loro vitto ventimila cori di frumento, altrettanti cori di orzo, ventimila metrete di vino e anche ventimila sati di olio».
11 Huram went on to say, 'Praised be Yahweh, God of Israel, who made heaven and earth and has givenKing David a wise son, endowed with discretion and discernment, to build a house for Yahweh and a palace inwhich to reign!-	11 Iram, re di Tiro, rispose con una lettera, mandata a Salomone. «Poichè il Signore vuole bene al suo popolo, costituì te re sopra di lui».
12 I am now sending you a skil ed and intelligent man, Huram-Abi	12 E aggiunse: «Benedetto il Signore Dio d'Israele, creatore del cielo e della terra, che diede al re Davide un figlio saggio, istruito, sensato e prudente, perchè edificasse una casa al Signore e un palazzo per sè.
13 the son of a Danite woman by a Tyrian father. He knows the arts of working in gold, silver, bronze,iron, stone, wood, scarlet, violet, fine linen and crimson materials, and is competent to carry out any kind ofengraving and to execute any design which may be entrusted to him, in col aboration with your skilled men andthose of my lord David, your father.	13 Mandai perciò un uomo prudente e abilissimo, Iram, padre mio,
14 'So now let my lord send his servants the wheat, barley, oil and wine as promised	14 figlio di una donna della tribù di Dan e di padre Tiro, il quale sa lavorare l'oro e l'argento, il rame e il ferro, il marmo e il legno e altresì la porpora, il giacinto, il bisso e lo scarlatto e che sa fare intagli d'ogni sorta e inventare ingegnosamente qualsiasi cosa che occorra. Egli sarà coi tuoi artefici e con quelli di Davide, mio signore e padre tuo.
15 and we wil fel all the wood you need from Lebanon, and bring it you in rafts by sea to Jaffa; and it wilbe your responsibility to transport it to Jerusalem.'	15 Manda dunque, o mio signore, ai servi tuoi il frumento, l'orzo, l'olio e il vino, che hai promesso,
16 Solomon then took a census of al the aliens resident in Israel similar to the census which his fatherDavid had taken; it was found that there were a hundred and fifty-three thousand six hundred.	16 e noi taglieremo tanta legna del Libano quanta ne abbisogni e la spediremo in zattere per mare fino a Joppe; sarà tua cura poi trasportarla a Gerusalemme».
17 He impressed seventy thousand of them as porters, eighty thousand as quarrymen in the hil s andthree thousand six hundred as overseers to make sure the people worked.	17 Salomone contò allora tutti gli stranieri che erano nella terra di Israele, secondo il censimento fatto da Davide suo padre, e trovò che erano centocinquantatremila e seicento.
	18 Fra questi ne scelse settantamila per portare a spalle i pesi, ottantamila per tagliar pietre sulle montagne, e tremilaseicento per sorvegliare il lavoro degli altri.
