2 Chronicles 18

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Although Jehoshaphat enjoyed great wealth and honour, he al ied himself by marriage to Ahab.	1 Giosafat, avendo abbondanza di ricchezza e di gloria, si imparentò con Acab.
2 After some years he paid a visit to Ahab in Samaria. Ahab slaughtered an immense number of sheepand oxen for him and his retinue, to induce him to attack Ramoth-Gilead.	2 Dopo alcuni anni scese da Acab in Samaria. Allora Acab immolò per lui e per la gente del suo seguito pecore e buoi in quantità, persuadendolo a marciare insieme contro Ramot di Gàlaad.
3 Ahab king of Israel then said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, 'Wil you come with me to Ramoth-Gilead?' He replied, 'I wil share in battle with you, my men with yours.'	3 Acab, re d'Israele, disse a Giosafat, re di Giuda: "Verresti con me contro Ramot di Gàlaad?". Gli rispose: "Sarà di me come di te, del tuo popolo come del mio popolo; saremo con te nella battaglia".
4 Jehoshaphat, however, said to the king of Israel, 'First, please consult the word of Yahweh.'	4 Giosafat disse al re d'Israele: "Consulta oggi stesso la parola del Signore".
5 So the king of Israel cal ed the prophets together, four hundred of them. 'Should we go and attackRamoth-Gilead,' he asked, 'or should I hold back?' 'March,' they replied, 'for God wil deliver it into the king'spower.'	5 Allora il re d'Israele radunò i profeti, quattrocento uomini, e disse loro: "Dobbiamo marciare contro Ramot di Gàlaad per far guerra o vi debbo rinunciare?". Questi risposero: "Attaccala; Dio la consegnerà nelle mani del re".
6 Jehoshaphat, however, said, 'Is there no other prophet of Yahweh here, for us to consult?'	6 Giosafat disse: "Non c'è più qui nessun profeta del Signore, che possiamo consultare?".
7 The king of Israel answered Jehoshaphat, 'There is one more man through whom we can consultYahweh, but I hate him because he never has a favourable prophecy for me, always unfavourable ones; he isMicaiah son of Imlah.' 'The king should not say such things,' said Jehoshaphat.	7 Il re d'Israele rispose a Giosafat: "C'è ancora un uomo per mezzo del quale si può consultare il Signore, ma io lo detesto, perché non profetizza a me il bene, ma sempre il male. Egli è Michea, figlio di Imla". Giosafat soggiunse: "Il re non parli così".
8 The king of Israel then summoned a court official and said, 'Bring Micaiah son of Imlah immediately.'	8 Allora il re d'Israele chiamò un eunuco e gli disse: "Fa' venire presto Michea, figlio di Imla".
9 The king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah were sitting each on his throne, wearing their robes;in an open space just outside the gate of Samaria, with al the prophets prophesying before them,	9 Il re d'Israele e Giosafat, re di Giuda, stavano seduti, ognuno sul suo trono, rivestiti dei loro manti; stavano seduti nell'aia di fronte alla porta di Samaria, mentre tutti i profeti profetizzavano al loro cospetto.
10 Zedekiah son of Chenaanah, who had made himself some iron horns, said, 'Yahweh says, "Withhorns like these, you will gore the Aramaeans til you make an end of them." '	10 Sedecia, figlio di Chenaana, che si era fatto delle corna di ferro, disse: "Così dice il Signore: Con queste cozzerai contro gli Aramei fino a sterminarli".
11 And al the prophets prophesied in the same vein, saying, 'March on Ramoth-Gilead! Success issure, for Yahweh has already given it to the king!'	11 Tutti i profeti profetizzavano allo stesso modo: "Attacca Ramot di Gàlaad e vi riuscirai; il Signore la consegnerà in potere del re".
12 The messenger who had gone to summon Micaiah said to him, 'Look! What the prophets are sayingis uniformly favourable to the king. So I hope you wil say the same as they do and speak favourably.'	12 Il messaggero che era andato a chiamare Michea gli disse: "Ecco, le parole dei profeti sono concordemente favorevoli al re; sia la tua parola come quella di ciascuno di essi e predici il successo".
13 Micaiah said, 'As Yahweh lives, I shal speak exactly as Yahweh tells me!'	13 Michea rispose: "Per la vita del Signore, ciò che dirà il mio Dio, questo io l'annuncerò".
14 When he came to the king, the king said, 'Micaiah, should we march to attack Ramoth-Gilead, orshould I hold back?' He replied, 'Go and conquer, Yahweh wil deliver them into your power!'	14 Si presentò al re che gli domandò: "Michea, dobbiamo marciare contro Ramot di Gàlaad per far la guerra o vi debbo rinunciare?". Questi rispose: "Attaccatela, riuscirete; i suoi abitanti saranno dati nelle vostre mani".
15 The king went on, 'How often must I put you on oath to tel me nothing but the truth in the name ofYahweh?'	15 Il re gli disse: "Quante volte ti debbo scongiurare di non dirmi altra cosa che la verità nel nome del Signore?".
16 Then he spoke out. I saw al Israel scattered on the mountains like sheep without a shepherd. AndYahweh said, 'These have no master, let them all go peaceful y home!'	16 Allora egli disse: "Ho veduto tutto Israele disperso sui monti come pecore senza pastore. Il Signore disse: "Non hanno padroni, ognuno ritorni in pace a casa sua".
17 At this the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, 'Did I not tell you that he never gives me favourableprophecies, but only unfavourable ones?'	17 Il re d'Israele disse a Giosafat: "Non te l'avevo forse detto che non mi avrebbe profetizzato nulla di buono, ma solo il male?".
18 Micaiah went on, 'Now listen to the word of Yahweh. I saw Yahweh seated on his throne with thewhole array of heaven standing on his right and on his left.	18 Michea disse ancora: "Pertanto, ascoltate la parola del Signore. Ho visto il Signore seduto sul suo trono e tutto l'esercito celeste stava alla sua destra e alla sua sinistra.
19 Yahweh said, "Who will entice Ahab king of Israel into marching to his death at Ramoth-Gilead?" Atwhich some answered one way, and some another.	19 Il Signore domandò: "Chi ingannerà Acab, re d'Israele, perché marci contro Ramot di Gàlaad e vi perisca?". Chi rispondeva una cosa, chi un'altra.
20 A spirit then came forward and stood before Yahweh and said, "I wil entice him." "How?" Yahweh asked.	20 Si fece avanti uno spirito che, postosi davanti al Signore, disse: "Io lo ingannerò". Il Signore gli disse: "Come?".
21 He replied, "I shall go and be a deceptive spirit in the mouths of all his prophets." Yahweh said, "You wil succeed in enticing him. Go and do it."	21 Rispose: "Partirò e diventerò uno spirito di menzogna sulla bocca di tutti i suoi profeti". Il Signore disse: "L'ingannerai; certo riuscirai; va' e fa' così!".
22 And now, you see, Yahweh has put a deceptive spirit into the mouths of your prophets here, for infact Yahweh has pronounced disaster on you.'	22 Ecco, dunque, che il Signore ha messo uno spirito di menzogna sulla bocca dei tuoi profeti, mentre il Signore preannuncia il male contro di te".
23 Zedekiah son of Chenaanah then came up, struck Micaiah on the cheek and said, 'Which way didYahweh's spirit leave me, to speak to you?'	23 Allora Sedecia, figlio di Chenaana, si accostò e percosse Michea sulla guancia dicendo: "Per quale via lo spirito del Signore se n'è andato via da me per parlare a te?".
24 'That is what you wil find out,' Micaiah retorted, 'the day you go from room to room, trying to hide.'	24 Michea rispose: "Ecco, tu lo vedrai nel giorno in cui fuggirai di camera in camera per nasconderti".
25 The king of Israel said, 'Seize Micaiah and hand him over to Amon governor of the city, and Joashthe king's son,	25 Allora il re d'Israele disse: "Prendete Michea e conducetelo ad Amon, governatore della città, e a Ioas figlio del re.
26 and say, "These are the king's orders: Put this man in prison and feed him on nothing but bread andwater until I am safely home." '	26 Direte loro: "Così ordina il re: mettete costui in prigione e nutritelo con poco pane e poca acqua fino a quando ritornerò incolume".
27 Micaiah said, 'If you ever do get home safely, Yahweh has not spoken through me.'	27 Michea disse: "Se ritornerai incolume, allora il Signore non ha parlato per mio mezzo".
28 The king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah marched on Ramoth-Gilead.	28 Il re d'Israele e Giosafat, re di Giuda, marciarono contro Ramot di Gàlaad.
29 The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, 'I shall disguise myself to go into battle, but you put on yourrobes.' So the king of Israel disguised himself, and they went into battle.	29 Il re d'Israele disse a Giosafat: "Mi travestirò per andare a combattere; tu invece rivesti i tuoi abiti". Il re d'Israele si travestì e andò a combattere.
30 Now, the king of Aram had given his chariot commanders the fol owing order, 'Do not attack anyoneof whatever rank, except the king of Israel.'	30 Il re di Aram aveva ordinato ai suoi capi dei carri: "Non combattete contro nessun altro, ma unicamente contro il re d'Israele".
31 So, when the chariot commanders saw Jehoshaphat, they thought, 'That is the king of Israel,' andsurrounded him to attack. But when Jehoshaphat shouted his war cry, Yahweh came to his help, God drew themaway from him,	31 Ora, appena i capi dei carri scorsero Giosafat, dissero: "E' questi il re d'Israele". Gli si strinsero intorno per combatterlo; ma Giosafat emise un grido e il Signore gli venne in aiuto; Dio allontanò quelli da lui.
32 for the chariot commanders, realising that he was not the king of Israel, broke off their pursuit.	32 Quando i capi dei carri si accorsero che non era il re d'Israele, desistettero dall'inseguirlo.
33 Someone, however, drawing his bow without any special aim, shot the king of Israel between thejoints of his armour. 'Turn about!' he said to his charioteer. 'Get me out of the fighting; I am col apsing.'	33 Ma uno, teso per caso l'arco, colpì il re d'Israele tra le maglie dell'armatura e della corazza. Il re disse al suo auriga: "Gira e portami fuori dalla mischia, perché sto male".
34 But the battle grew fiercer as the day went on, and the king of Israel had to be held upright in hischariot facing the Aramaeans until the evening, and at sunset he died.	34 La battaglia infuriò in quel giorno; il re d'Israele fu sorretto in piedi sul carro di fronte agli Aramei fino a sera, quando morì al momento del tramonto del sole.
