1 Although Jehoshaphat enjoyed great wealth and honour, he al ied himself by marriage to Ahab.	1 - Fu dunque Josafat ricco e molto glorioso e s'imparentò con Acab.
2 After some years he paid a visit to Ahab in Samaria. Ahab slaughtered an immense number of sheepand oxen for him and his retinue, to induce him to attack Ramoth-Gilead.	2 Dopo qualche anno andò a trovarlo a Samaria e al suo arrivo Acab immolò molti arieti e buoi per lui e per quelli che erano venuti in sua compagnia e lo persuase a salire in Ramot di Galaad.
3 Ahab king of Israel then said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, 'Wil you come with me to Ramoth-Gilead?' He replied, 'I wil share in battle with you, my men with yours.'	3 Disse allora Acab, re d'Israele, a Josafat, re di Giuda: «Vieni meco in Ramot di Galaad». Ed egli gli rispose: «Io e tu siamo una sol cosa, come il popolo tuo e il popolo mio; con te moveremo alla guerra».
4 Jehoshaphat, however, said to the king of Israel, 'First, please consult the word of Yahweh.'	4 Disse ancora Josafat al re di Israele: «Te ne prego, consulta ora la parola del Signore».
5 So the king of Israel cal ed the prophets together, four hundred of them. 'Should we go and attackRamoth-Gilead,' he asked, 'or should I hold back?' 'March,' they replied, 'for God wil deliver it into the king'spower.'	5 Il re d'Israele congregò quindi i profeti, in numero di quattrocento e disse loro: «Dobbiamo andare a combattere in Ramot di Galaad o restarcene qua?». Ed essi risposero: «Ascendi, e Dio la darà nelle mani del re».
6 Jehoshaphat, however, said, 'Is there no other prophet of Yahweh here, for us to consult?'	6 Soggiunse Josafat: «Ma non v'è qua un profeta del Signore, da poter consultare anche lui?».
7 The king of Israel answered Jehoshaphat, 'There is one more man through whom we can consultYahweh, but I hate him because he never has a favourable prophecy for me, always unfavourable ones; he isMicaiah son of Imlah.' 'The king should not say such things,' said Jehoshaphat.	7 E il re d'Israele disse a Josafat: «Ve n'è uno a cui possiamo chiedere il volere del Signore; ma io lo odio, perchè non mi annuncia mai del bene, ma sempre del male; è Michea, figlio di Jemla». E Josafat disse: «Non parlare in tal guisa, o re».
8 The king of Israel then summoned a court official and said, 'Bring Micaiah son of Imlah immediately.'	8 Chiamato pertanto uno dei suoi eunuchi, il re d'Israele gli disse: «Chiama subito Michea figlio di Jemla».
9 The king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah were sitting each on his throne, wearing their robes;in an open space just outside the gate of Samaria, with al the prophets prophesying before them,	9 Ora il re d'Israele e Josafat, re di Giuda, se ne stavano entrambi seduti sul trono, vestiti da re; se ne stavano appunto sull'aia vicina alla porta di Samaria, e tutti i profeti vaticinavano alla loro presenza.
10 Zedekiah son of Chenaanah, who had made himself some iron horns, said, 'Yahweh says, "Withhorns like these, you will gore the Aramaeans til you make an end of them." '	10 Sedecia poi, figlio di Canaana, si era fatto delle corna di ferro e disse: «Ecco quel che dice il Signore: - Con queste getterai all'aria i Siri, finchè tu non li abbia interamente calpestati -».
11 And al the prophets prophesied in the same vein, saying, 'March on Ramoth-Gilead! Success issure, for Yahweh has already given it to the king!'	11 Anche tutti i profeti profetavano nello stesso modo e dicevano: «Ascendi in Ramot di Galaad e avrai fortuna, e Dio li darà nelle mani del re».
12 The messenger who had gone to summon Micaiah said to him, 'Look! What the prophets are sayingis uniformly favourable to the king. So I hope you wil say the same as they do and speak favourably.'	12 Il messo, ch'era andato a chiamare Michea, gli disse: «Ecco, i profeti tutti, ad una voce, annunziano buone cose al re; ti prego, perciò, che neppure la tua parola dissenta da essi. Annunzia quindi prosperi eventi».
13 Micaiah said, 'As Yahweh lives, I shal speak exactly as Yahweh tells me!'	13 Ma Michea gli rispose: «Viva il Signore! Qualunque cosa mi dirà il mio Dio, io l'annunzierò».
14 When he came to the king, the king said, 'Micaiah, should we march to attack Ramoth-Gilead, orshould I hold back?' He replied, 'Go and conquer, Yahweh wil deliver them into your power!'	14 Venne adunque dal re, il quale gli domandò: «Michea, dobbiamo noi andare in Ramot di Galaad per combattere o starcene tranquilli?». Ed egli rispose: «Andate pure, e tutto riuscirà a vostro vantaggio e vi saranno dati i nemici in vostro potere».
15 The king went on, 'How often must I put you on oath to tel me nothing but the truth in the name ofYahweh?'	15 Soggiunse il re: «Te ne scongiuro replicatamente, dimmi solo quel che è vero nel nome del Signore».
16 Then he spoke out. I saw al Israel scattered on the mountains like sheep without a shepherd. AndYahweh said, 'These have no master, let them all go peaceful y home!'	16 Ed egli: «Ho visto tutto Israele disperso per le montagne, come pecore senza pastore; e disse il Signore: - Costoro non hanno padrone; ritorni ciascuno alla sua casa in pace -».
17 At this the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, 'Did I not tell you that he never gives me favourableprophecies, but only unfavourable ones?'	17 Voltosi allora il re d'Israele a Josafat, gli disse: «Non t'ho io detto che costui non mi profeterebbe nulla di buono, ma soltanto del male?».
18 Micaiah went on, 'Now listen to the word of Yahweh. I saw Yahweh seated on his throne with thewhole array of heaven standing on his right and on his left.	18 Poi il profeta soggiunse: «Ascoltate perciò la parola del Signore: Vidi il Signore assiso sul suo trono e tutto l'esercito celeste in piedi alla sua destra e alla sua sinistra;
19 Yahweh said, "Who will entice Ahab king of Israel into marching to his death at Ramoth-Gilead?" Atwhich some answered one way, and some another.	19 e il Signore domandò: - Chi trarrà in inganno Acab, re d'Israele, affinchè salga a Ramot di Galaad e vi perisca? - E uno rispose in un modo e l'altro in un altro;
20 A spirit then came forward and stood before Yahweh and said, "I wil entice him." "How?" Yahweh asked.	20 allora si avanzò uno spirito e postosi dinanzi al Signore, disse: - Io lo ingannerò. - Il Signore gli chiese: - Come lo ingannerai? -
21 He replied, "I shall go and be a deceptive spirit in the mouths of all his prophets." Yahweh said, "You wil succeed in enticing him. Go and do it."	21 Ed egli rispose: - Me ne andrò e sarò spirito di menzogna sulla bocca di tutti i profeti di lui. - Il Signore soggiunse: - Lo ingannerai e vi riuscirai; va', e fa' così. -
22 And now, you see, Yahweh has put a deceptive spirit into the mouths of your prophets here, for infact Yahweh has pronounced disaster on you.'	22 Ora adunque il Signore ha dato lo spirito di menzogna sulle labbra di tutti i tuoi profeti; ma il Signore ha pronunciato sciagure contro di te».
23 Zedekiah son of Chenaanah then came up, struck Micaiah on the cheek and said, 'Which way didYahweh's spirit leave me, to speak to you?'	23 Allora Sedecia, figlio di Canaana, accostatosi a lui diede un colpo sulla guancia di Michea e disse: «Per qual strada lo spirito del Signore se n'è andato da me per venire a parlare a te?».
24 'That is what you wil find out,' Micaiah retorted, 'the day you go from room to room, trying to hide.'	24 E Michea rispose: «Tu stesso lo vedrai nel giorno che passerai da una stanza all'altra per nasconderti».
25 The king of Israel said, 'Seize Micaiah and hand him over to Amon governor of the city, and Joashthe king's son,	25 Il re d'Israele poi comandò e disse: «Prendete Michea e conducetelo da Amon, principe della città, e da Joas, figlio di Amelec,
26 and say, "These are the king's orders: Put this man in prison and feed him on nothing but bread andwater until I am safely home." '	26 e dite loro: - Questo dice il re: "Mettete costui in carcere, dategli un po' di pane e un po' d'acqua fino al mio ritorno in pace" -».
27 Micaiah said, 'If you ever do get home safely, Yahweh has not spoken through me.'	27 Ma Michea soggiunse: «Se ritornerai in pace, il Signore non avrà parlato per mia bocca»; e soggiunse: «Popoli tutti, ascoltate».
28 The king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah marched on Ramoth-Gilead.	28 Ascesero dunque il re d'Israele e Josafat, re di Giuda, in Ramot di Galaad,
29 The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, 'I shall disguise myself to go into battle, but you put on yourrobes.' So the king of Israel disguised himself, and they went into battle.	29 e il re d'Israele disse a Josafat: «Mi cambierò vestito ed entrerò così nel combattimento. Tu però ritieni le tue vesti». E il re d'Israele si travestì e andò a combattere.
30 Now, the king of Aram had given his chariot commanders the fol owing order, 'Do not attack anyoneof whatever rank, except the king of Israel.'	30 Il re di Siria aveva dato quest'ordine ai capitani della sua cavalleria: «Non combattete contro veruno, o piccolo o grande che sia, ma solo contro il re d'Israele».
31 So, when the chariot commanders saw Jehoshaphat, they thought, 'That is the king of Israel,' andsurrounded him to attack. But when Jehoshaphat shouted his war cry, Yahweh came to his help, God drew themaway from him,	31 Perciò allorchè i capitani della cavalleria videro Josafat, dissero: «Costui è il re d'Israele», e circondatolo, lo assalirono: ma egli invocò il Signore, che lo aiutò e allontanò coloro da lui,
32 for the chariot commanders, realising that he was not the king of Israel, broke off their pursuit.	32 poichè avendo visto i capitani della cavalleria che egli non era il re di Israele, lo lasciarono.
33 Someone, however, drawing his bow without any special aim, shot the king of Israel between thejoints of his armour. 'Turn about!' he said to his charioteer. 'Get me out of the fighting; I am col apsing.'	33 Invece accadde che uno della turba avendo a caso tirato una freccia percosse il re d'Israele tra il collo e le spalle; il re allora disse al suo cocchiere: «Voltati indietro e conducimi fuori del combattimento, perchè son ferito».
34 But the battle grew fiercer as the day went on, and the king of Israel had to be held upright in hischariot facing the Aramaeans until the evening, and at sunset he died.	34 E finì in quello stesso giorno la battaglia, poichè il re d'Israele rimase sul suo carro di fronte ai Siri fino alla sera e morì sul tramontar del sole.
