1 Although Jehoshaphat enjoyed great wealth and honour, he al ied himself by marriage to Ahab.	1 Lorsque Josaphat eut richesses et gloire en abondance, il s’allia par mariage à la famille d’Akab.
2 After some years he paid a visit to Ahab in Samaria. Ahab slaughtered an immense number of sheepand oxen for him and his retinue, to induce him to attack Ramoth-Gilead.	2 Au bout de quelques années, il rendit visite à Akab à Samarie. Akab offrit en son honneur et pour les gens qui l’accompagnaient quantité de bœufs et de moutons, et il le poussa à attaquer Ramot-de-Galaad.
3 Ahab king of Israel then said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, 'Wil you come with me to Ramoth-Gilead?' He replied, 'I wil share in battle with you, my men with yours.'	3 Akab, roi d’Israël, dit en effet à Josaphat, roi de Juda: “Viendras-tu avec moi à Ramot-de-Galaad?” Il lui répondit: “Je ferai comme toi et mon peuple fera comme ton peuple. Nous serons à tes côtés dans la bataille.”
4 Jehoshaphat, however, said to the king of Israel, 'First, please consult the word of Yahweh.'	4 Josaphat dit au roi d’Israël: “Consulte d’abord, s’il te plaît, la parole de Yahvé.”
5 So the king of Israel cal ed the prophets together, four hundred of them. 'Should we go and attackRamoth-Gilead,' he asked, 'or should I hold back?' 'March,' they replied, 'for God wil deliver it into the king'spower.'	5 Le roi d’Israël rassembla ses prophètes, au nombre de 400, et leur dit: “Devons-nous partir attaquer Ramot-de-Galaad ou faut-il y renoncer?” Ils répondirent: “Pars, Dieu la livrera entre les mains du roi.”
6 Jehoshaphat, however, said, 'Is there no other prophet of Yahweh here, for us to consult?'	6 Josaphat ajouta: “N’y a-t-il pas quelque autre prophète de Yahvé par qui nous puissions le consulter?”
7 The king of Israel answered Jehoshaphat, 'There is one more man through whom we can consultYahweh, but I hate him because he never has a favourable prophecy for me, always unfavourable ones; he isMicaiah son of Imlah.' 'The king should not say such things,' said Jehoshaphat.	7 Le roi d’Israël répondit à Josaphat: “Il y a encore un homme par qui l’on pourrait consulter Yahvé, mais je le déteste: il ne me prophétise jamais le bien, mais toujours le mal: c’est Michée, fils de Yimla.” Josaphat lui dit: “Que le roi ne parle pas ainsi!”
8 The king of Israel then summoned a court official and said, 'Bring Micaiah son of Imlah immediately.'	8 Le roi d’Israël appela donc un serviteur et lui dit: “Va-t’en vite chercher Michée, fils de Yimla!”
9 The king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah were sitting each on his throne, wearing their robes;in an open space just outside the gate of Samaria, with al the prophets prophesying before them,	9 Le roi d’Israël et Josaphat, roi de Juda, étaient assis chacun sur un trône, habillés de cérémonie: ils étaient assis sur la place qui est à l’entrée de la porte de Samarie et tous les prophètes entraient en transes devant eux.
10 Zedekiah son of Chenaanah, who had made himself some iron horns, said, 'Yahweh says, "Withhorns like these, you will gore the Aramaeans til you make an end of them." '	10 Sédécias, fils de Kénaana, s’était fait des cornes de fer et il disait: “Voici ce que dit Yahvé: Voilà comment tu embrocheras les Araméens jusqu’au dernier.”
11 And al the prophets prophesied in the same vein, saying, 'March on Ramoth-Gilead! Success issure, for Yahweh has already given it to the king!'	11 Tous les prophètes prophétisaient de même: “Pars à Ramot-de-Galaad, disaient-ils, tu seras vainqueur: Yahvé la livrera entre les mains du roi.”
12 The messenger who had gone to summon Micaiah said to him, 'Look! What the prophets are sayingis uniformly favourable to the king. So I hope you wil say the same as they do and speak favourably.'	12 Le serviteur qui était allé chercher Michée lui dit: “Écoute, les prophètes sont unanimes pour annoncer la victoire au roi. Toi aussi, parle comme eux et prédis la victoire.”
13 Micaiah said, 'As Yahweh lives, I shal speak exactly as Yahweh tells me!'	13 Mais Michée répondit: “Par la vie de Yahvé, je ne dirai que ce que dira mon Dieu.”
14 When he came to the king, the king said, 'Micaiah, should we march to attack Ramoth-Gilead, orshould I hold back?' He replied, 'Go and conquer, Yahweh wil deliver them into your power!'	14 Quand il arriva près du roi, le roi lui dit: “Michée, devons-nous partir attaquer Ramot-de-Galaad ou faut-il y renoncer?” Michée répondit: “Montez, ce sera un succès! Ils seront livrés entre vos mains.”
15 The king went on, 'How often must I put you on oath to tel me nothing but the truth in the name ofYahweh?'	15 Mais le roi lui dit: “Combien de fois me faudra-t-il te l’ordonner: ne me dis que la vérité au Nom de Yahvé!”
16 Then he spoke out. I saw al Israel scattered on the mountains like sheep without a shepherd. AndYahweh said, 'These have no master, let them all go peaceful y home!'	16 Michée s’écria: “J’ai vu tout Israël dispersé sur les montagnes, comme des brebis qui n’ont plus de berger, et Yahvé disait: Ces hommes n’ont plus de maître, que chacun retourne en paix chez soi!”
17 At this the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, 'Did I not tell you that he never gives me favourableprophecies, but only unfavourable ones?'	17 Le roi d’Israël dit alors à Josaphat: “Ne te l’avais-je pas dit? Il ne me prophétise jamais le bien, mais seulement le mal.”
18 Micaiah went on, 'Now listen to the word of Yahweh. I saw Yahweh seated on his throne with thewhole array of heaven standing on his right and on his left.	18 Michée dit encore: “Écoutez donc la parole de Yahvé! J’ai vu Yahvé assis sur son trône et toute la cour des cieux se tenait à sa droite et à sa gauche.
19 Yahweh said, "Who will entice Ahab king of Israel into marching to his death at Ramoth-Gilead?" Atwhich some answered one way, and some another.	19 Yahvé a demandé: ‘Qui trompera Akab, roi d’Israël, pour qu’il parte et tombe à Ramot-de-Galaad?’ L’un a répondu d’une façon, l’autre d’une autre.
20 A spirit then came forward and stood before Yahweh and said, "I wil entice him." "How?" Yahweh asked.	20 Alors l’Esprit s’est avancé et s’est tenu devant Yahvé: ‘Moi, a-t-il, je le tromperai.’ Yahvé lui a demandé: ‘Comment feras-tu?’
21 He replied, "I shall go and be a deceptive spirit in the mouths of all his prophets." Yahweh said, "You wil succeed in enticing him. Go and do it."	21 - ‘J’irai, a-t-il répondu, et je me ferai esprit de mensonge dans la bouche de tous ses prophètes.’ Yahvé lui a dit alors: ‘Oui, tu réussiras à le tromper; va et fais ainsi.’
22 And now, you see, Yahweh has put a deceptive spirit into the mouths of your prophets here, for infact Yahweh has pronounced disaster on you.'	22 Sache que Yahvé a mis un esprit de mensonge dans la bouche de tes prophètes parce que lui, Yahvé, a décrété contre toi le malheur.”
23 Zedekiah son of Chenaanah then came up, struck Micaiah on the cheek and said, 'Which way didYahweh's spirit leave me, to speak to you?'	23 Alors Sédécias, fils de Kénaana, s’avança et gifla Michée: “Par quel chemin l’esprit de Yahvé est-il sorti de moi pour te parler?”
24 'That is what you wil find out,' Micaiah retorted, 'the day you go from room to room, trying to hide.'	24 Michée répondit: “Tu le sauras le jour où tu iras de refuge en refuge pour te cacher.”
25 The king of Israel said, 'Seize Micaiah and hand him over to Amon governor of the city, and Joashthe king's son,	25 Le roi d’Israël ordonna: “Prenez Michée et remettez-le à Amon, gouverneur de la ville, et à Yoach, fils du roi.
26 and say, "These are the king's orders: Put this man in prison and feed him on nothing but bread andwater until I am safely home." '	26 Vous leur transmettrez cet ordre du roi: Mettez cet homme en prison, vous ne lui donnerez qu’une maigre ration de pain et d’eau jusqu’à ce que je revienne sain et sauf.”
27 Micaiah said, 'If you ever do get home safely, Yahweh has not spoken through me.'	27 Michée lui dit: “Si vraiment tu reviens sain et sauf, c’est que Yahvé n’a pas parlé par moi.”
28 The king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah marched on Ramoth-Gilead.	28 Le roi d’Israël et Josaphat, roi de Juda, partirent pour Ramot-de-Galaad;
29 The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, 'I shall disguise myself to go into battle, but you put on yourrobes.' So the king of Israel disguised himself, and they went into battle.	29 Le roi d’Israël dit à Josaphat: “Je vais me déguiser pour aller à la bataille, mais toi, porte ton uniforme.” Le roi d’Israël se déguisa donc pour aller à la bataille.
30 Now, the king of Aram had given his chariot commanders the fol owing order, 'Do not attack anyoneof whatever rank, except the king of Israel.'	30 Le roi d’Aram avait donné cet ordre à ses chefs de chars: “N’attaquez ni petit ni grand, mais seulement le roi d’Israël.”
31 So, when the chariot commanders saw Jehoshaphat, they thought, 'That is the king of Israel,' andsurrounded him to attack. But when Jehoshaphat shouted his war cry, Yahweh came to his help, God drew themaway from him,	31 Lorsque les chefs de chars aperçurent Josaphat, ils se dirent: “C’est le roi d’Israël!” Et ils l’encerclèrent pour l’attaquer, mais Josaphat poussa un cri; Yahvé lui porta secours et Dieu les entraîna loin de lui.
32 for the chariot commanders, realising that he was not the king of Israel, broke off their pursuit.	32 Lorsque les chefs de chars virent que ce n’était pas le roi d’Israël, ils arrêtèrent de le poursuivre.
33 Someone, however, drawing his bow without any special aim, shot the king of Israel between thejoints of his armour. 'Turn about!' he said to his charioteer. 'Get me out of the fighting; I am col apsing.'	33 Mais un homme tira à l’arc sans savoir sur qui, et il atteignit le roi d’Israël entre les attaches et la cuirasse. Le roi dit alors à son conducteur de char: “Fais demi-tour et fais-moi sortir de la mêlée, car je me sens mal.”
34 But the battle grew fiercer as the day went on, and the king of Israel had to be held upright in hischariot facing the Aramaeans until the evening, and at sunset he died.	34 Le combat devenait de plus en plus violent ce jour-là. Le roi d’Israël resta debout sur son char jusqu’au soir, face aux Araméens, mais au coucher du soleil il mourut.
