1 Solomon son of David then made himself secure over his kingdom. Yahweh his God was with him,making him more and more powerful.	1 Salomone figlio di David si stabilì saldamente nel suo regno. Il Signore Dio suo era con lui e lo elevò alle più alte grandezze.
2 Solomon then spoke to al Israel, to the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, to the judges andto every leader in all Israel, the heads of families.	2 Salomone, dati gli ordini a tutto Israele, ai tribuni, ai centurioni, ai capi e ai giudici di tutto Israele e ai capi delle famiglie,
3 Solomon, and the whole assembly with him, then went to the high place at Gibeon, where God's Tentof Meeting was, which Moses, servant of God, had made in the desert.	3 con tutta questa moltitudine andò all'alto luogo di Gabaon, dov'era il Tabernacolo dell'alleanza del Signore, fatto nel deserto da Mosè servo di Dio.
4 The ark of the covenant, however, David had brought from Kiriath-Jearim to the place which he hadprepared for it, having pitched a tent for it in Jerusalem.	4 L'arca di Dio David l'aveva trasportata da Cariatiarim al luogo che le aveva preparato, in Gerusalemme, dove le aveva eretto un Tabernacolo.
5 The bronze altar which Bezalel son of Uri, son of Hur, had made was there, in front of Yahweh'sDwelling, where Solomon and the assembly consulted him.	5 Anche l'altare di rame, fatto da Beseleel, figlio di Uri figlio di Ur, era rimasto a Gabaon dinanzi al Tabernacolo del Signore, e Salomone con tutta l'adunanza lo ricercò.
6 There Solomon presented a burnt offering before Yahweh on the bronze altar of the Tent of Meeting,making on it one thousand burnt offerings.	6 Salomone salito sull'altare di rame innanzi al Tabernacolo dell'alleanza del Signore, vi offerse mille ostie.
7 That night God appeared to Solomon and said, 'Ask what you would like me to give you.'	7 Ed ecco in quella stessa notte apparirgli Dio e dire a lui: « Chiedi ciò che desideri da me ».
8 Solomon replied to God, 'You showed most faithful love to David my father, and you have made meking in succession to him.	8 Salomone disse a Dio: « Tu facesti grandi misericordie a David mio padre, e mi hai stabilito re in suo luogo.
9 Yahweh God, the promise you made to David my father has now been fulfil ed, since you have mademe king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth.	9 Or dunque, o Signore Dio, sia compita la parola che hai promessa a David mio padre; e giacché m'hai fatto re sopra il tuo gran popolo, innumerabile come la polvere della terra,
10 Therefore give me wisdom and knowledge to act as leader of this people, for how otherwise couldsuch a great people as yours be governed?'	10 dammi la sapienza e l'intelligenza, affinchè entri ed esca davanti al tuo popolo. Chi può infatti giudicare degnamente questo popolo che è così grande? »
11 'Since that is what you want,' God said to Solomon, 'since you have asked, not for riches, treasure,honour, the lives of your enemies, or even for a long life, but for wisdom and knowledge to govern my people ofwhom I have made you king,	11 Dio disse a Salomone: « Giacché hai avuto soprattutto a cuore questo, e non hai domandato nè ricchezze, nè beni, nè gloria, nè la vita di quei che ti odiano, e neppure una lunga vita; ma hai chiesto la sapienza e la scienza per poter giudicare il mio popolo sul quale ti ho costituito re,
12 therefore wisdom and knowledge are granted you. I give you riches too, and treasure, and honoursuch as no king had before you and none will have after you.'	12 la sapienza e la scienza ti son concesse; di ricchezze, di beni, di gloria te ne darò in modo che nessuno, nè prima nè dopo di te, ti sarà simile ».
13 So Solomon came away from the high place at Gibeon, from the Tent of Meeting, to Jerusalem andreigned over Israel.	13 Allora Salomone dall'alto del luogo di Gabaon se ne tornò a Gerusalemme dinanzi al Tabernacolo dell'alleanza, e regnò sopra Israele.
14 Solomon then built up a force of chariots and cavalry; he had one thousand four hundred chariots andtwelve thousand horses; these he kept in the chariot towns and near the king at Jerusalem.	14 Egli radunò carri e cavalieri, ebbe mille quattrocento carri e dodici mila cavalieri, e li fece stanziar nelle città delle quadrighe e presso al re in Gerusa­lemme.
15 In Jerusalem the king made silver and gold as common as stones, and cedar wood as plentiful assycamore in the lowlands.	15 Il re fece che in Gerusalemme l'argento e l'oro fossero come le pietre, i cedri come i sicomori che nascon in tanta quantità nelle pianure.
16 Solomon's horses were imported from Muzur and Cilicia. The king's dealers acquired them in Cilicia atthe prevailing price.	16 I cavalli gli eran menati dall'Egitto e da Coa dai mercanti del re che andavano a comprarli pagando,
17 A chariot was imported from Egypt for six hundred silver shekels and a horse from Cilicia for ahundred and fifty. They also supplied the Hittite and Aramaean kings, who al used them as middlemen.	17 una quadriga di cavalli, seicento sicli d'argento, e un cavallo centocinquanta, e così la compra era fatta da tutti i regni degli Etei e dai re di Siria.
18 Solomon then gave the order to build a house for the name of Yahweh and a palace in which to reign.
