1 Solomon son of David then made himself secure over his kingdom. Yahweh his God was with him,making him more and more powerful.	1 Salomone adunque figliuolo di David ebbe fermo il possesso del suo reame, e il Signore Dio suo era con lui, e lo esaltò fino al cielo.
2 Solomon then spoke to al Israel, to the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, to the judges andto every leader in all Israel, the heads of families.	2 E Salomone convocò tutto Israele, i tribuni, e i centurioni, e i capitani, e i giudici di tutto Israele, e i capi delle famiglie;
3 Solomon, and the whole assembly with him, then went to the high place at Gibeon, where God's Tentof Meeting was, which Moses, servant of God, had made in the desert.	3 E con tutta questa moltitudine andò al luogo eccelso di Gabaon, dove era il tabernacolo del testamento del Signore fabbricato da Mosè servo di Dio nel deserto.
4 The ark of the covenant, however, David had brought from Kiriath-Jearim to the place which he hadprepared for it, having pitched a tent for it in Jerusalem.	4 (Or David avea condotta l'arca di Dio da Cariathiarim al luogo, ch'ei le avea preparato, dove le avea piantato un padiglione, viene a dire, a Gerusalemme).
5 The bronze altar which Bezalel son of Uri, son of Hur, had made was there, in front of Yahweh'sDwelling, where Solomon and the assembly consulted him.	5 E parimente l'altare di bronzo fatto da Beseleel figliuolo di Uri, figliuolo di Hur, era colà dinanzi al tabernacolo del Signore: e Salomone, e tutta l'adunanza si presentò dinanzi ad esso.
6 There Solomon presented a burnt offering before Yahweh on the bronze altar of the Tent of Meeting,making on it one thousand burnt offerings.	6 E Salomone salì all'altare di bronzo dinanzi al tabernacolo dell'alleanza del Signore, e vi offerse mille ostie.
7 That night God appeared to Solomon and said, 'Ask what you would like me to give you.'	7 Ed ecco, che la stessa notte gli apparve Dio, e gli disse: Chiedi quello, che vuoi, ch'io ti conceda.
8 Solomon replied to God, 'You showed most faithful love to David my father, and you have made meking in succession to him.	8 E Salomone disse a Dio: Tu facesti delle grandi misericordie a David mio padre: e me hai stabilito re in suo luogo.
9 Yahweh God, the promise you made to David my father has now been fulfil ed, since you have mademe king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth.	9 Ora adunque. Signore Dio, si adempia la parola di tua promessa fatta a David mio padre: perocché tu mi hai fatto re di questo tuo popolo grande, che è innumerabile come i granelli di polvere della terra.
10 Therefore give me wisdom and knowledge to act as leader of this people, for how otherwise couldsuch a great people as yours be governed?'	10 Dammi la saggezza, e l'intelligenza, affinchè io possa governare il tuo popolo: imperocché chi può degnamente guidare questo tuo popolo, che è cosi grande?
11 'Since that is what you want,' God said to Solomon, 'since you have asked, not for riches, treasure,honour, the lives of your enemies, or even for a long life, but for wisdom and knowledge to govern my people ofwhom I have made you king,	11 E Dio disse a Salomone: Perchè in cuor tuo hai preferite queste cose, e non hai domandate ricchezze, né beni, né gloria, né la morte di que', che ti odiano, e neppur lunga vita; ma hai domandata la sapienza, e la scienza, affin di render giustizia al mio popolo, di cui io ti ho fatto re;
12 therefore wisdom and knowledge are granted you. I give you riches too, and treasure, and honoursuch as no king had before you and none will have after you.'	12 La sapienza, e la scienza son concedute a te: e le ricchezze, e i beni, e la gloria darò a te in tal guisa, che nissuno né prima, né dopo sarà mai simile a te.
13 So Solomon came away from the high place at Gibeon, from the Tent of Meeting, to Jerusalem andreigned over Israel.	13 Salomone adunque se n'andò dal luogo eccelso di Gabaon a Gerusalemme dinanzi al tabernacolo del testamento, e prese possesso del regno d'Israele.
14 Solomon then built up a force of chariots and cavalry; he had one thousand four hundred chariots andtwelve thousand horses; these he kept in the chariot towns and near the king at Jerusalem.	14 E raunò cocchi, e cavalieri, ed ebbe fino a mille quattrocento cocchi, e dodici mila soldati a cavallo: e feceli stanziare nelle città de' cocchi, e in Gerusalemme presso al re.
15 In Jerusalem the king made silver and gold as common as stones, and cedar wood as plentiful assycamore in the lowlands.	15 E il re fece, che l'argento, e l'oro in Gerusalemme era come le pietre, e i cedri come i fichi fatui, che nascono in gran numero ne' piani.
16 Solomon's horses were imported from Muzur and Cilicia. The king's dealers acquired them in Cilicia atthe prevailing price.	16 Ed erano menati a lui i cavalli dall'Egitto, e da Coa dai mercatanti del re, i quali andavano a comprargli a caro prezzo.
17 A chariot was imported from Egypt for six hundred silver shekels and a horse from Cilicia for ahundred and fifty. They also supplied the Hittite and Aramaean kings, who al used them as middlemen.	17 Quattro cavalli da cocchio secento sicli d'argento, e un cavallo cento cinquanta: e se ne faceva ancor gran de incetta da tutti i regni degli Hethei, e dai re della Siria.
18 Solomon then gave the order to build a house for the name of Yahweh and a palace in which to reign.
