1 After this David defeated the Philistines and subdued them. From the grip of the Philistines he wrestedGath and its dependencies.	1 ויהי אחרי כן ויך דויד את פלשתים ויכניעם ויקח את גת ובנתיה מיד פלשתים
2 He also defeated the Moabites; the Moabites became David's subjects and paid him tribute.	2 ויך את מואב ויהיו מואב עבדים לדויד נשאי מנחה
3 David also defeated Hadadezer king of Zobah, which lies in the direction of Hamath, when the lattermounted an expedition to assert his rule on the River Euphrates.	3 ויך דויד את הדדעזר מלך צובה חמתה בלכתו להציב ידו בנהר פרת
4 David captured one thousand chariots, seven thousand charioteers and twenty thousand foot soldiersfrom him; David hamstrung al the chariot teams, keeping only a hundred of them.	4 וילכד דויד ממנו אלף רכב ושבעת אלפים פרשים ועשרים אלף איש רגלי ויעקר דויד את כל הרכב ויותר ממנו מאה רכב
5 The Aramaeans of Damascus came to the help of Hadadezer king of Zobah, but David kil ed twenty-two thousand of the Aramaeans.	5 ויבא ארם דרמשק לעזור להדדעזר מלך צובה ויך דויד בארם עשרים ושנים אלף איש
6 David then imposed governors in Aram of Damascus, and the Aramaeans became David's subjectsand paid him tribute. Wherever David went, Yahweh gave him victory.	6 וישם דויד בארם דרמשק ויהי ארם לדויד עבדים נשאי מנחה ויושע יהוה לדויד בכל אשר הלך
7 David took the golden shields carried by Hadadezer's guards and brought them to Jerusalem.	7 ויקח דויד את שלטי הזהב אשר היו על עבדי הדדעזר ויביאם ירושלם
8 From Tibhath and from Cun, towns belonging to Hadadezer, David captured a great quantity ofbronze, with which Solomon made the bronze Sea, the pil ars and the bronze implements.	8 ומטבחת ומכון ערי הדדעזר לקח דויד נחשת רבה מאד בה עשה שלמה את ים הנחשת ואת העמודים ואת כלי הנחשת
9 When Tou king of Hamath heard that David had defeated the entire army of Hadadezer king of Zobah,	9 וישמע תעו מלך חמת כי הכה דויד את כל חיל הדדעזר מלך צובה
10 he sent his son Hadoram to King David to greet him and to congratulate him on having made war onHadadezer and on having defeated him, since Hadadezer was at war with Tou. He also sent al sorts of objectsmade of gold, silver and bronze,	10 וישלח את הדורם בנו אל המלך דויד לשאול לו לשלום ולברכו על אשר נלחם בהדדעזר ויכהו כי איש מלחמות תעו היה הדדעזר וכל כלי זהב וכסף ונחשת
11 which King David also consecrated to Yahweh, as wel as the silver and gold which he had leviedfrom al the nations, from Edom, Moab, the Ammonites, the Philistines and Amalek.	11 גם אתם הקדיש המלך דויד ליהוה עם הכסף והזהב אשר נשא מכל הגוים מאדום וממואב ומבני עמון ומפלשתים ומעמלק
12 Abishai son of Zeruiah defeated the Edomites in the Val ey of Salt -- eighteen thousand of them.	12 ואבשי בן צרויה הכה את אדום בגיא המלח שמונה עשר אלף
13 He stationed garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites became David's subjects. Wherever Davidwent, Yahweh gave him victory.	13 וישם באדום נציבים ויהיו כל אדום עבדים לדויד ויושע יהוה את דויד בכל אשר הלך
14 David ruled over all Israel, administering law and justice to al his people.	14 וימלך דויד על כל ישראל ויהי עשה משפט וצדקה לכל עמו
15 Joab son of Zeruiah was in command of the army; Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was herald;	15 ויואב בן צרויה על הצבא ויהושפט בן אחילוד מזכיר
16 Zadok son of Ahitub and Abiathar son of Ahimelech were priests; Shusha was secretary;	16 וצדוק בן אחיטוב ואבימלך בן אביתר כהנים ושושא סופר
17 Benaiah son of Jehoiada was in command of the Cherethites and Pelethites; David's sons took firstplace after the king.	17 ובניהו בן יהוידע על הכרתי והפלתי ובני דויד הראשנים ליד המלך
