2 Kings 22

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Josiah was eight years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for thirty-one years inJerusalem. His mother's name was Jedidah daughter of Adaiah, of Bozkath.	1 Giosia aveva otto anni al suo avvento al trono e regnò trentun anni a Gerusalemme. Sua madre si chiamava Iedida, figlia di Adaia, da Boscat.
2 He did what Yahweh regards as right, and in every respect fol owed the example of his ancestor David,not deviating from it to right or left.	2 Egli fece ciò che è retto agli occhi del Signore e imitò la condotta del suo antenato Davide senza deviare a destra o a sinistra.
3 In the eighteenth year of King Josiah, the king sent the secretary Shaphan son of Azaliah, son ofMeshullam to the Temple of Yahweh.	3 L'anno diciottesimo del re Giosia il re mandò al tempio del Signore lo scriba Safàn, figlio di Asalia, figlio di Mesullàm, dicendogli:
4 'Go to Hilkiah the high priest,' he told him, 'and tel him to melt down the silver contributed to theTemple of Yahweh and col ected by the guardians of the threshold from the people.	4 "Sali dal sommo sacerdote Chelkia perché fonda l'argento che è stato portato nel tempio del Signore e che i custodi della porta hanno raccolto dal popolo.
5 He is to hand it over to the masters of works attached to the Temple of Yahweh, for them to pay it overto men working on the Temple of Yahweh, to repair the damaged parts of the Temple:	5 Lo si consegni in mano dei capi che presiedono agli operai nel tempio del Signore, perché lo diano agli operai che lavorano a riparare il tempio del Signore,
6 to the carpenters, builders and masons, and for buying timber and dressed stone for the Templerepairs.'	6 cioè ai carpentieri, ai costruttori e ai muratori, perché comperino legname e pietre squadrate destinati alla riparazione del tempio.
7 The latter were not required to render account of the money handed over to them, since they wereconscientious in their work.	7 Ma non si chieda loro conto del denaro consegnato in loro mano, perché essi lavorano onestamente".
8 The high priest Hilkiah said to Shaphan the secretary, 'I have found the Book of the Law in the Templeof Yahweh.' And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan, who read it.	8 Il sommo sacerdote Chelkia disse allo scriba Safàn: "Nel tempio del Signore ho trovato il libro della legge". Chelkia diede il libro a Safàn e questi lo lesse.
9 Shaphan the secretary went to the king, reporting furthermore to him as fol ows, 'Your servants havemelted down the silver which was in the Temple and have handed it over to the masters of works attached to theTemple of Yahweh.'	9 Allora lo scriba Safàn andò dal re e gli riferì la cosa con queste parole: "I tuoi servi hanno fuso l'argento trovato nel tempio e l'hanno consegnato in mano dei capi che presiedono agli operai nel tempio del Signore".
10 Then Shaphan the secretary informed the king, 'The priest Hilkiah has given me a book'; andShaphan read it aloud in the king's presence.	10 Poi lo scriba Safàn comunicò al re: "Il sacerdote Chelkia mi ha dato un libro"; e Safàn lo lesse alla presenza del re.
11 On hearing the words of the Book of the Law he tore his clothes.	11 Udite che ebbe le parole del libro della legge, il re si stracciò le vesti
12 Then the king gave the fol owing order to the priest Hilkiah, Ahikam son of Shaphan, Achbor son ofMicaiah, Shaphan the secretary and Asaiah the king's minister:	12 e ordinò al sacerdote Chelkia, ad Achikam, figlio di Safàn, ad Acbor, figlio di Michea, allo scriba Safàn e ad Asaia, servo del re:
13 'Go and consult Yahweh on behalf of me and the people about the words of the book that has beendiscovered; for Yahweh's furious wrath has been kindled against us because our ancestors disobeyed the wordof Yahweh by not doing what this book says they ought to have done.'	13 "Andate a consultare il Signore per me, per il popolo e per tutto Giuda riguardo alle parole di questo libro che è stato trovato. Grande dev'essere l'ira del Signore che si è accesa contro di noi, poiché i nostri padri non hanno ascoltato le parole di questo libro e non hanno agito in conformità a tutto quello che vi è scritto".
14 The priest Hilkiah, Ahikam, Achbor, Shaphan and Asaiah went to the prophetess Huldah wife ofShal um son of Tikvah, son of Harhas the keeper of the wardrobe; she lived in Jerusalem in the new town. Theyput the matter to her,	14 Il sacerdote Chelkia, Achikam, Acbor e Safàn si recarono dalla profetessa Culda, moglie di Sallùm, figlio di Tikva, figlio di Carcas, custode dei paramenti sacri; essa abitava in Gerusalemme, nella città nuova. Parlarono con lei
15 and she replied, 'Yahweh, God of Israel, says this, "To the man who sent you to me say this:	15 ed essa rispose: "Così parla il Signore, Dio d'Israele. Dite a chi vi ha mandato da me:
16 Yahweh says this: I am going to bring disaster on this place and the people who live in it -- all thewords of the book read by the king of Judah.	16 "Così parla il Signore: Ecco, sto per far venire una sciagura su questo luogo e su coloro che lo abitano, precisamente tutte le cose del libro che il re di Giuda ha letto,
17 Because they have abandoned me and sacrificed to other gods, so as to provoke my anger by theirevery action, my wrath is kindled against this place, and nothing can stop it.	17 poiché essi mi hanno abbandonato e hanno bruciato incenso agli altri dèi, così da provocarmi a sdegno con tutte le opere delle loro mani. La mia collera si è accesa contro questo luogo e non si spegnerà".
18 As for the king of Judah who sent you to consult Yahweh, say this to him: As regards the words youhave heard . . .	18 Al re di Giuda che vi ha mandato a consultare il Signore così direte: "Così parla il Signore, Dio d'Israele: le parole che tu hai udito...
19 But since your heart has been touched and you have humbled yourself before Yahweh on hearingwhat I have decreed against this place and the people who live in it, how they wil become an object of horrorand cursing, and have torn your clothes and wept before me, I too have heard -- Yahweh says this.	19 Poiché il tuo cuore si è intenerito e ti sei umiliato davanti al Signore all'udire quello che ho detto contro questo luogo e contro coloro che lo abitano, e cioè che essi diverrebbero vittime di spavento e di maledizione, poiché hai stracciato le tue vesti e hai pianto al mio cospetto, anch'io ti ho dato ascolto, oracolo del Signore!
20 So look, when I gather you to your ancestors, you wil be gathered into your grave in peace; you willnot live to see the great disaster that I am going to bring on this place." ' They took this answer to the king.	20 Perciò, ecco, ti riunirò ai tuoi antenati e sarai raccolto in pace nel tuo sepolcro, cosicché i tuoi occhi non vedranno tutto il male che io sto per far venire su questo luogo". Quelli riportarono la risposta al re.
